I completed my 4th year of kinesiology and I am doing 5th year now. Why 5th year? Cause I didn’t know what I wanted to do in the future so I half assed up to 3rd year like an idiot. 4th year, I started to put more effort in and got up to a 3.8GPA for my 4th year. My Cgpa is now 3.10 after taking some more summer courses. Since I did horrendous in my previous years, I have prerequisite courses that need a 70% grade average requirement but I do not meet them. Therefore I have to retake lots of courses. In Canada schools look at the last 20 credits (last 20 courses) so that is why I am doing the 5th year. Not meeting lots of my prerequisite like physiology and anatomy is putting lots of pressure on me and I’m not confident in getting an A in these courses. I have looked through most Canadian schools that the competition is incredibly high. I also did research across the world and found that Australia and UK is very popular for canadian students. Still I want to look for a place closer to home.

Anyone been in my shoes? If so, what did you guys do?

I’m currently a Kinesiology student and I have about 59 credits left in my degree. My goal has always been to become a physiotherapist, but lately I’ve been feeling really discouraged and anxious about whether that’s still realistic for me.
My grades in anatomy and physiology haven’t been great. I got a C and C+ in my anatomy courses, and I also didn’t do well in physiology. I’m going to be retaking my second physiology course and I’m hoping to significantly improve my grade.
I know I still have 59 credits left, so there’s time for me to improve my GPA and hopefully show a strong upward trend, but I’m honestly scared that my earlier grades have already closed too many doors for PT programs.
I’ve been looking particularly at PT programs in Ontario, but I’m open to programs elsewhere in Canada as well. I know some schools have minimum grades for prerequisite courses while others seem to focus more on sub-GPA/recent credits, so I’m trying to figure out what options I realistically still have.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where they had weaker grades earlier in their degree, especially in anatomy/physiology, but improved later and eventually got into PT?
Would retaking prerequisite courses and doing well in my remaining 59 credits actually make me competitive somewhere? I’m willing to put in the work — I’m just feeling really overwhelmed and would appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through the PT application process.
**TL;DR:** Kinesiology student with 59 credits remaining, weak anatomy/physiology grades, retaking physiology, and really wants to pursue PT. Is it still realistically doable if I significantly improve from here?

I'm curious what other PT programs are using for clinical hour tracking. Ours feels more complicated than it needs to be. Hours get logged in one place, the CI signs off somewhere else, and then some of the same information ends up getting submitted to the program again.

Has anyone's program actually figured out a system where the student, CI and school are all working from the same place? Mostly curious what the day to day process looks like for people who aren't maintaining multiple versions of the same log.

Finding a cheap PT school isn’t hard like they make it out to be. There are schools like Hunter and CSI in NY that offer 50k tuition for all three years. This is not only in NY there are many other schools offering in state tuition for <60k. Other than that there are accelerated 2 year hybrid programs that lowers costs on rent and years of school. And also schools that offer incentives such as free tuition in return for something. Ex. Military or working in underserved population.

If you check the guy I mentioned page, all day is just him discouraging students or leaving negative comments bout the students decisions or the profession. These people are out of touch with the profession and don’t know what they are talking bout. Just because they have regretted decisions or made the wrong ones with their career doesn’t mean we will. The profession has grown where I personally know PT’s making 150k plus, PT’s making 200k plus in HH and PT’s working for sports teams. It is not impossible like these typical redditors think it is. These people think that an expensive PT school with bunch of debt and only geriatric clinicals and starting salary of 70k is the only option, which it is not. So please be aware of ppl like this stalking this thread. TikTok has a much better SPT community than Reddit we all know how Redditors are stereotyped and is exactly how these type of ppl act here. You do not have to rethink your career choice because of a few “PTs” in the sub tell you too.

Hi I just have started MSc Physiotherapy and it’s my first week so it’s all induction and getting to know each other! Already I’m panicking and becoming insecure compared to my peers since I came from a psychology degree into this course, others have come from Sports and rehabilitation, biomed, kinesiology ect more healthcare related! I know the degree will be really fast paced with a lot of anatomy content which is all brand new to me but for my peers they’ll already have a foundation! I’m worried about being behind and struggling and whether I deserve to be on the course :(

I’m also a Muslim woman so during practical sessions I’m confused on the attire as I can’t wear shorts or undress!

Got emails on the first and the second for these two schools for acceptances. I was wondering if there were any current students or alumni of these programs that could shed a bit more light on the pros and cons of these programs. Also is anyone else going to go to the admitted students day?

Curious how other PTs who do freelance or side work on top of clinic hours manage the mental switch. Not looking for life advice, genuinely want to know if anyone has built any kind of system for it.

My situation is full caseload during the week and dev work squeezed into evenings and weekends. The problem is not time exactly, it is cognitive load carrying over from patient documentation into the other work. By the time I close the EMR I am not exactly fresh for anything requiring focused thinking.

Tried time blocking, tried different task managers, none of it touched the core issue: the two types of work draw on completely different mental modes. Clinical reasoning is reactive and relational. Dev work needs sustained uninterrupted attention. They do not coexist cleanly in a single day.

Wondering if anyone here is juggling PT school or clinical work alongside something else demanding and actually has data, or at least a rough sense of what works. Not anecdotes about hustle mindset, actual workflow observations. What does your schedule look like and do you think the cognitive fatigue is cumulative over the week or does it reset daily for you.

Hey guys so I submitted my applications late august and I am extremely nervous because I did not do well in a class I took this past spring, so i retook it this summer and passed with a B but I submitted my application before the class was done so it still says in progress on my application until I am able to submit my final grades through PTCAS in December.

The issue with this is that the grade that I got in the class in spring unfortunately drop my GPA below 3.0 to a 2.96 which is right below the GPA cut off. I also have two other courses in progress this semester which I am certain I will get A’s in and I am certain that my overall GPA will raise back above a 3.0 (which I know is not ideal for applying to PT school, but I would say I’m fairly strong in hours, setting diversity, and letters of recommendation and my prerequisite gpa is better) I am super nervous because since it is the GPA that I applied with I will get a flat out rejection since interviews are done based off of the GPA that you submitted your application with and the bad grade I received last semester dropped me below the minimum . I applied almost everywhere in California and I am betting on private schools since my GPA is lower and they get less applicants. I have emailed multiple schools that I have applied to asking about this situation and they have all stated that they see I have classes in progress and that they will go over my application again once I’m able to submit my new transcripts in December, but will it be too late by then? Will all of the cohorts be full? Kind of a weird situation and I don’t know if I am overthinking all of it.

I have pretty good stats, GPA: 3.9, GRE: 315, a couple hundred observation hours, mostly in outpatient ortho/peds. Work as aide in outpatient clinic.

I am a PTA student, and I feel like my cohort is very divided. Half the class is in their own group chat, and the other half is just there. We know it bc they would text in class and nothing pop up in our discord. Like we are so separated as a whole cohort. Like, there was this one time in lab where you could really see the separation. It's like they don't want to be around anyone else outside their group. I also feel a vibe that the other folks don't like me. I eventually gave up talking to them because I've felt a physical separation since the end of Term 1. Part of me thinks maybe I gave the wrong impression? I participate in class, and I overtalk when I get excited about things I knew before. I am hyper-aware of people behavior. I have a wierd feeling its bc of that so now I try not to talk in class as much. When they talk to me it feels so fake I hatee it. Its like backhand talk. It gives me high school vibes, and I truly had high expectations because I saw the past cohorts and they looked so close together. It makes me feel like I should get out of this cohort and join the next one. I still have my seatmates, but it feels draining to go to school and see the rest of them. Not only I noticed it but my other classmates noticed it too. :///
