I am a PTA student, and I feel like my cohort is very divided. Half the class is in their own group chat, and the other half is just there. We know it bc they would text in class and nothing pop up in our discord. Like we are so separated as a whole cohort. Like, there was this one time in lab where you could really see the separation. It's like they don't want to be around anyone else outside their group. I also feel a vibe that the other folks don't like me. I eventually gave up talking to them because I've felt a physical separation since the end of Term 1. Part of me thinks maybe I gave the wrong impression? I participate in class, and I overtalk when I get excited about things I knew before. I am hyper-aware of people behavior. I have a wierd feeling its bc of that so now I try not to talk in class as much. When they talk to me it feels so fake I hatee it. Its like backhand talk. It gives me high school vibes, and I truly had high expectations because I saw the past cohorts and they looked so close together. It makes me feel like I should get out of this cohort and join the next one. I still have my seatmates, but it feels draining to go to school and see the rest of them. Not only I noticed it but my other classmates noticed it too. :///

Hi all, I recently just got an acceptance letter to University of Miami class of 2030. I thought there was an interview process associated with the school, wondering if anyone else has got the same message or if this is potentially a mishap and I shouldn’t get my hopes up. This letter came very quick, I didn’t submit my application until 8/30 and they got back within the week.

I have been applying to DPT programs this cycle. I recently got my first acceptance from a hybrid school, and while I'm very excited, I'm unsure if the program is right for me. Has anyone participated in a hybrid program before, and if so would you recommend it?

They are giving me about a week to make a choice. I'm worried about how well I'd actually learn with most of the classwork being online. Furthermore I'm worried about the lack of collaboration I'll be able to have with my peers and professors given the format. However, I'm even more worried that theres a chance I get denied from the other 8 schools I applied to. While I targeted holistic and last 60 hours schools and overall have a solid application (1000+ hours in 5 settings, 3 strong LOR, 307 GRE), I'm worried my cGPA is going to turn off a lot of potential programs to my application (its a 2.9 overall, last 60 is a 3.75, prereq is about a 3.75 as well). Any advice on how to handle this?

Hi everyone. Just taking opinions on where I should continue my studies as an international student. I've received offers from both schools and am having a hard time deciding where to go.

I keep hearing things like Bond is full of nepos, bad employer reputation, and high costs. While others say people don't care where you graduated. As for the costs it would actually be cheaper for me to go to Bond than Unimelb since i'm an international paying full fees for both.

Unimelb on the other hand has a bigger campus and is in a major city, which appealed to me. It is also consistently ranked among the top universities in Australia but the program is 3 years to complete instead of 2 at Bond.

Any thoughts? Can anyone here attest to the programs from either university? Thanks!

Ok this is my first time posting on reddit but I need some advice. I'm interested in medicine however i'm not sure which route I should take. My end goal is to have a doctorate and work with athletes and children, I'm on the pre-physical therapy track right now but I just started so I haven't really gotten into my major specific classes. The only reason i'm on the fence about PT is because I don't like physics all that much, so I'm also thinking about becoming a sports medicine, PM&R, or pediatric physician. What should I do?

Edit: Thank you guys for all the information it's really helping me make this decision. For some background I know PT and med school use physics, however i'm more worried about how often I have to apply those physics principles in residency, or with PT patients. I'm set on all other types of sciences and math, it's just that when I did physics in high school It was the bane of my existence, I got an A in the class, but that doesn't mean I can practically apply its principles on an everyday basis, which i'm worried about having to do depending on the path I take. I'm already going to graduate undergrad with some debt under my belt so whats some more honestly, its really not about the money but more about where I can make the biggest impact on the people I want to help.

Certifications: AHA BLS, working on CSCS during gap year

Applying to school:
GRE required: CSULB, SDSU, CSUN, CSU Sacramento, University of Maryland, Baltimore
Optional: George Washington University, Duke
No GRE: UCSF/SFSU

I am considering applying to school for a PTA program. I was curious if anyone here could take a look at my unofficial transcript from my Associates Kinesiology degree that I did not finish, to see, realistically, what credits you believe would transfer to a PTA program.

I know it’s subjective to the school, requirements, and curriculum, just figured I’d give it a shot to see where I could possibly land once attempting to transfer. I have earned 74 credits from my previous school in Kinesiology out of 94. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I graduated back in May (PTA) and had to take a PEAT. I scored a 562. I have severe anxiety which led to my decision to push my July exam date to October. It’s now September. I’ll be honest I haven’t studied consistently due to stress, fear of failure and overall anxiety but I managed to go through Cardiovascular/Pulmonary and Neuro already. I’ve taken scorebuilder practice exams and practice questions from Truelearn. I have yet to purchase another PEAT due to financial issues, but hope to take one this week. I could really use the advice and some encouragement. Is it doable to pass in October??? Please no hate lol. Thanks

My DCE just told me that I failed my first clinical and I’m really just in awe right now and feel like a failure and don’t know what to do. I had very specific guidelines from others but I was not able to meet them. I can either appeal (Your appeal would need to be based on how your grade for CE I was assigned in an arbitrary or capricious manner or you were treated unfairly) or if I don’t appeal then they will develop a remediation plan to repeat the CE and continue with next years class. What should I do?

Also how do I tell my family about this😭😭😭

Hi! One of the schools I’m applying to (TWU) requires me to choose between their campuses and I’m having some trouble deciding between the Houston and Denton locations. I have some pros/cons for both, but would like some advice from fellow applicants/people in PT school on which campus seems better, since i’ve been thinking about it so much i feel like im going crazy.

Houston
pros:
- new city to me
- culturally diverse
- in texas medical center

cons:
- far from family/significant other
- while it’s near the TMC, it doesn’t seem like the hospitals in the area take many students (may not even get clinical rotation there)
- expensive!!

Denton
pros:
- LOVE their campus
- near home
- cheap
- access to DFW hospitals

cons:
- don’t like the city as much
- not as established of a campus
- for some reason feels like a defeat to go to school 30 minutes from home, even though i know it isn’t

I’m in desperate need of help. I’m looking for a DPT program that is hybrid for under 100k. I have been putting this off for years but it has been a goal of mine since highschool. I just want to do what I love but I get in my head and hold myself back.

So my cGPA is 2.8 due to a bad start to college but my science and pre req gpa is better (above a 3.0 forsure ) also have a couple retakes due to that bad start. I’m applying to schools that do last 60 for cGPA or do holistic review of application.

Can I still get in? I have a C in A&P 1 though due to financial reasons I chose to not retake that course 😬 A in every other pre req but some retakes until I finally got that A.

I did a lot of volunteering , assisted in research at my Uni, and have hundreds of outpatient and inpatient hours (geriatric, peds , stroke , spine injury , sports are some that I shadowed at these locations but not limited to those)
290 GRE.

3 PTs and a professor are my LOR

I have a few interviews lined up. 1 school is higher rank (school A) top 60 and expensive. I already booked the interview date for that school. Another school (school B) wants to interview that day too. They are lower rank but not bad! A shorter program length, and about $60 grand cheaper! I have been accepted to another program already (high 200s rank) so I have my safety school.

The question is, should I just drop the school A interview? I fear the only reason I want to go to it is for the chance at a high rank school but it is so expensive! And the pros are better for school B. If I got into school A I'm not sure if I would choose it over my safety school bc the price. But there's a part of me that feels like I would feel validated if school A accepted me.

Please help me reason this out, I am so nervous.

Edit: ok I was pretty sure I should just not do it since I didn't even wanna pick it over my safety school. Also ranks are stupid, got it. I needed you all to help me squish the stupid feelings so I could do the logical thing! I'm dropping it, gunna schedule the interview with school B. Thank you!

just got an email from jefferson that they reviewed my application and they basically said that they want to see my fall term grades, and that I should email them the transcript once I complete the term.

the question is.. they hold in-person interviews in september , but don’t start online interviews until november. getting to that school is definitely a trip so i was wondering is having an interview much earlier affects anything? does it give better chance of acceptance since it’s rolling? do they prefer in-person usually?

for me, going for in-person would mean at least a day of missed school but i’m still considering both options just wanted to see what you guys would advise me to do. hoping to get more invites from philly schools and perhaps group them up into one trip possibly but we will see how that goes.

hi folks! i’m curious if folks have opinions or stories about admissions from a nontraditional background?

I graduated undergrad with a BS in computer science (3.9 gpa) and have worked for several years at a big tech company, but have been on a journey to find something outside of tech for the last year or so. I am a lifelong dancer and began teaching/choreographing and such and recently have wrapped up my pilates certification and have begun teaching pilates.

I became interested in DPT since all of the interests i’ve been exploring are related to movement and biomechanics and with how my brain works I love getting into the science of everything. i’m working through my prereqs right now at community college (which is pretty much all bio/chem and 4.0 so far) and i’m setting up some shadowing hours right now.

I’m curious if folks have any advice or thoughts on what I can do to make my admissions chances stronger or if there are gaps I am not thinking about?

For context, I'm openly gay, non binary (pronouns He/They), and POC (Filipino American). I love this job, and working hard on my application, so I when I enter school and the field I want people to see me for how good I am at the career. I plan on applying to PT school in the cycle of fall 2027. I'm just apprehensive because sometimes I see areas of the field that are very white dominated, and cohorts at some schools are majority white students. I don't want to post this generalizing a group of people, but I've had bad experiences in my past (undergrad, high school, childhood) of homophobia, racism, and biases that I'm apprehensive about facing again. I just want to know if there are any PTs that had similar fears, experiences, and advice. Career wise, I'm very interested in outpatient settings, or a setting that deal with neuro or movement rehabilitation.

This is my first time posting on Reddit so bear with me😂 I am hoping to start PT school next summer in June, and have been saving for a vacation in another country with a couple friends. We were planning on going in May, and I would start grad school the next month. Is it financially irresponsible to do that? I am split on taking the vacation because I don’t get the chance to hardly, or save my money because I will need it for rent, groceries, etc. as a broke graduate student. I know the whole thing of traveling while being young and all, but I also know I’ll be tied down with paying off debt after I get out of grad school. Thank you all in advance!🙏
