Discussion Genesis cars
Hello folks! Me again 😅. Trust You're all doing well...
Please I'd like to hear you're opinions and experiences with the Genesis sedans and SUVs, also possible comparisons with the lexus counterparts, cos while the Genesis offers more surface value, I haven't found much about reliability and ease of maintenance. Please any ideas?

These cars are good, if you enjoy driving they are better dynamically than lexus for sure, but once you face a mechanical issue related to gearbox, diff or engine then you are cooked. Parts not easily available and the wrench monkeys in Mabela will put holes in your pocket, trust me I know, I used to have a G70.. now I don't, got myself a M3.

Ohh wow! Could this be related to the fact that it's American spec as stated by someone above or it's just a general issue?

Yes and no, mine was a american spec with only side door repair and no airbags deployed, I drove it in oman for 2 years without any issues, but once the problems started they never ended really.. its more to do with the fact that the Koreans are still far behind in delivering a complete package, not just looks, they got their designs sorted once they hired some European designers from Audi and BMW. Research JDS, it's a known issue on their 8speed transmissions which Genesis corporate is still ignoring.

It's turning into the new Lexus. Engine and gear issues still exist but the tech is quite good.
If you are strict on maintaining them, they'll last a while.

Genesis is a great brand. Reliability is very good but probably second only to Toyota/Lexus in my experience and maintenance is generally fine..
But in Oman, only buy GCC spec.. trust me on this because If you buy an import, be prepared for a headache. The dealer here (OTE) may refuse to service it or even order parts because the car isn't registered in their system.. so you're stuck ordering parts yourself or going to the UAE.
The problem isn't Genesis, it's the dealership here. gotten a G70 and other Genesis cars,. they're amazing.

Isn't this true for all dealerships though? I don't think any of them would want to deal with imported cars

I don’t know much about its reliability side, but most people have them recommended them and for me i like how they look

Better tech, design and all, the reliability and ease of maintenance is the main concern.
