Monthly Buy, Sell & Break Rule 3 Post

Upvotes

On occasion we, the mod team, get requests for things that would break rule 3 (no solicitation). At other times people just break the rule and we have to remove the post. So, in this monthly post you get to break rule 3 and sell yourself or your stuff (within the realm of legality).

Some reminders/ground rules:

Rule 2 still stands, nothing illegal.

Rule 4 still stands, no personal information.

More on rule 4; if you want to send someone to your house or go to someone's house and need their address then keep it in private messages. Or stick to the basic internet rule; meet in a public place.

Unless you're an actual business don't give out your phone number or email address. If you post a phone number or email address and your post doesn't show up it's because the auto-mod caught it and one of the moderators will have to approve it.

So that's about it, if you have any questions go ahead and ask.

If you want to continue advertising your business/services outside of this thread you can buy adspace from Reddit, which is usually what we end up telling people to do.

40 minute wait, way overpriced food, my spouse and I almost died in the heat(thankfully we bought a wheelchair and took turns).

My spouse saw the labor day sale and went rogue.

We have now banned valas and all future outing require both of our approval.

Traffic Vala’s Traffic

Upvotes

For those of you going to Vala’s today or any other time in the next 60 days. Don’t block the fucking intersections. Pulling into the intersection and blocking cross traffic is not getting you into or out of Vala’s any faster. If anything it creates more delays and accident potential. Your time isn’t any more or less valuable than anyone else’s. Wait your turn at the intersection and don’t run the light.

ISO/Suggestion Young quilters/ sewists

Upvotes

Any young quilters or people who craft sew? I’m a young woman of color who likes to sew but is somewhat new to quilting but everytime I strike up conversations with veteran quilters at the fabric stores I’m invited to quilting clubs then immediately told I need to invest in way more expensive tools, why everything I’m doing is wrong down to my fabric colors, and questioned how I “could’ve possibly gotten into sewing.” Would love to meet some young people/ people of color in the hobby!

ISO/Suggestion Tiny homes

Upvotes

Has anyone in Omaha looked into developing a tiny home community here? Would anyone be interested? My husband and I really love the idea of living small/financial independence, but would like to also be in a community. I’ve seen other communities around the country with things like dog parks, fire pits, gardens, trails, and even as fancy as fitness studios, co-working spaces, and libraries. I think something like this would be amazing in the Omaha area and I know there must be other like-minded individuals who are wanting something simpler.

I found this old camera that looks brand new. A 1937-38 Argus model AF….and found a. 20 exposure fill of Kodachrome film inside. I’m looking for a way to develop or see if any of these photos can be developed. Hoping they’re not all ruined and would love to see what’s salvageable.. the history buff in me is chomping at the bit to see if we have some photos here and from when. Any suggestions?

ISO/Suggestion Insulation contractors

Upvotes

Hello,

Over the weekend I removed some wood paneling in a bedroom. The room and ceiling has Zonolite insulation and I read online that this brand is known for asbestos. Are there any insulation removal companies that can do the removal ASAP?

The insulation was disturbed so I’m sure we’ve been breathing asbestos throughout the weekend. (I was unaware of Zonolite being known for asbestos until literally right now). I’ve called a few but because of the holiday there have been no answer or they are booked out.

Would appreciate any help or advice I can get!

Local Question Realtors, I need advice.

Have been trying to sell my old house but currently having no bites.

History on the last few months:

Had a buyer put it under contract on the second day of it being for sale. After a month and a half they backed out. Was suggested by inspection people to get a piping situation fixed (although it was not broken). Had to take the house off the market for a month. Once it was back on the market, school had started.

Original price was $285. After pipe fixes it went back up at $279. No movement after a week dropped it to $270. In the last 3 years the house has gotten a new roof, ac, heater, water heater, and now underground piping.

Is there no movement because my realtor is not making moves? Is the cost too high? What am I missing?

Local News Yet another chase for the weekend

Upvotes

ABLE-1 began circling over the 156th & W Maple just now and shortly after 10+ patrol cars between DCSO and OPD came absolutely flying down 156th before turning onto W Maple. Must've been only a few streets up because ABLE-1 started a super tight circle and dropped some altitude.

Hi, I really don't know how to word this post but i thought l'd try this: I'm pretty new to magic and have fallen in love with commander, and I'm just looking for friends to play with me. I have mostly precons and usually stay in the bracket 1-2 range and I'm free most nights after work if anyone is interested or has an open spot in their pod.

Loca flora/fauna In a few weeks the Missouri River just north of Omaha turns white with snow geese, one of the loudest wildlife spectacles in the country

Post image
Upvotes

If you have never stood under a big snow goose migration, it is hard to describe. DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, on the Missouri River about half an hour north of Omaha, is one of the places it happens. Through late fall the geese stack up by the tens and even hundreds of thousands, resting on the water and feeding in the corn stubble before pushing south. When something spooks a flock the whole thing lifts at once, a white blizzard against the sky and a roar you feel in your chest.

There is a twist to the story. Snow geese were once in trouble, and now there are almost too many of them. Cheap waste grain on the wintering grounds let the population explode, to the point that the birds are chewing up their own Arctic breeding tundra. The clouds over Nebraska are a conservation success that overshot.

This map is those birds along the Missouri corridor. Keep an eye out for the dark ones mixed in, the "Blue Goose," which is the same species in a different coat. Peak numbers hit around late November, and Loess Bluffs a couple hours south can top a million birds.
