Office Logix Shop Sux

Little back story I refurbish Herman Millers from time to time. I’ve restored hundreds of them and I’ve only ever had to buy a replacement seat mesh twice. Really a testament to how good the original mesh is.

In February of 2025 I bought this Aeron classic size C with a cracked seat and stretched mesh.

That same month I ordered a new seat pan from eBay and I thought shoot, I’ll give an aftermarket maker a go and purchased the office logix shop seat mesh.

Immediately when I installed the mesh I noticed that it wasn’t nearly tight enough. Unacceptable for a $90 brand new product.

I emailed them right away and their response was that they would give me a “full refund” if I shipped it back at my expense.

They knew full well that it would cost me 50% my purchase price to ship it back due its size and shape. I didn’t really want to do that so I thought oh well I got burned I’ll try to sell it at a discount later on and maybe in the meantime I can find an oem seat for a deal. So I put it in my storage unit and forgot about until now.

I pulled it out recently and reinstalled the mesh with bigger aftermarket screws just on the off chance that I installed incorrectly.

The results were the same. The mesh looks like it’s sitting in the frame correctly but it is laughably loose. This seat mesh has been sat in for less than 4 hours and looks how it does in the photos permanently. Not any better than the stretched mesh that I replaced.

Anyway I’m just trying to warn anyone who thinks this is a viable repair option to stay away from it. Just spend the extra money and go oem. Thanks for reading.

FREE CHAIRS near Orlando, FL [mod approved]

In the spirit of u/gregatbtod I'm also starting a periodic office chair giveaway. The only difference is that this will be for those who are too geographically challenged to travel to Wisconsin.

Please read all of the following:

Pickup location: Orlando, FL (32817). Exact location to be disclosed via DM when you are ready to pickup.

Pickup only, no delivery, and no shipping.

Pickup time is to be scheduled via private chat on Reddit. Please, try to send me a chat request (not a private message).

Priority will generally go to whoever can pick up the earliest. If you can't pick up until, say, the fifth Friday of next month, you're unfortunately going to be pretty far down the list. Simply commenting first does not necessarily reserve a chair.

All chairs are used. I haven't had time to thoroughly inspect or test every function on every chair, which is part of why I'm giving them away. I don't believe any of them are obviously broken, but they are being given away as-is, with no guarantees.

Chairs available:

* Geiger Foray black leather office chair

* Steelcase Series 1 stool/drafting chair

* Steelcase Series 1 office chair

Once the chairs are gone, I will update this thread!

Thanks for reading!

my honest review of the libernovo maxis

Upvotes

for reference i weight 270 lbs and im 6 fts tall and i have been using the chair for about a week.

i was hoping on liking the chair sadly i didnt. i selected the chair after recommendation and seeing alot of positivity about the libernovo omni. sadly at the time i couldn't find good review of the maxis but i assumed their reputation would precede them. but first lets start with the positive

the good

the wheel base

the wheel base seems sturdy and is made of metal i had chair in the past fail on that section so it was nice to find. the wheel base is also noticeably larger then other chair i had so their is more stability and less stress on each wheel. only time can say how effective that would have been.

the armrest

the flexibility is amazing i never had armrest move like that. they can go almost completely out of the way but i can also bring them thigh so i can rest my arm while holding a controller. never had a chair that can do that.

assembly

the chair was easy to assemble. every bolt screw with the same head and the one tool needed was included in the boxes. the tool itself happen to be very nice and well made im gonna keep it in my tool chest.

the bad

the seat

the seat is massive i have 3.5 inch free on each side. the cushion is not firm enough for my weight. it took years to my previous chair before i touch the bottom. the maxis its immediate i touch the bottom under the foam. after 2 hours of sitting its annoying.

the back rest

when i saw the review of the chair nobody heavy really tried it and the backrest look cool and flexible. at my weigh the back rest can't stay centered when slightly reclined. i need to focus at maintaining myself centered. when i loose focus my body shift to the side keeping me in a slightly turned position. after this weekend im starting to feel back and neck pain.

armrest

one of them just broke... their is no locking mechanism for the back and forth motion its juste a clicking mechanism and that fine but the left armrest's clicking mechanism broke today. its still usable but it now slide back and forth when i don't want it to...

the ugly

the chair just feel flimsy. at that price i was expecting some premium feeling but every mechanism have alot of play in them. the tissue of the headrest is ruff on the skin of my bald head i feel like i should start wearing a hat...

conclusion

i really wanted to like this chair. I wouldn't recommend the maxis. its expensive, none critical part broke after a week and i can't find a stable comfortable position. i now have back and neck pain.

maybe if you aren't heavy its a good chair but its targeted at heavier user soooooo

Any good office chairs for home use?

Upvotes

Landed a full remote position recently, and my current desk seat is just a wooden dining chair. It’s not cutting it at all.

Firm surface, terrible back support. A couple hours in and my body lets me know youth is behind me, 35 here. Ready to splurge on a quality chair for myself.

I frequently cross my legs while seated, and need good recline to unwind during games or films.

The Libernovo Maxis Manual is the one I keep coming back to. People say it’s great for relaxing, but how does it perform through long work hours? Any risk of soreness after all day sitting?

I’m 6'3", 183 lbs, and my budget is capped at $1,000. Definitely open to other chair ideas. TIA.

Is herman miller embody worth?

Upvotes

Thinking of purchasing a hm embody in hyd india. Quoted about 2.1 laks inr (2300 usd)
Other options are steelbody gesture and that will be like 25% cheaper. Have heard great things about hm embody and thinking not to cheap out and go for it. Recommendations are well. Thanks in advance

Colamy Atlas/Xk problem(?)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

So I got the Colamy Atlas/Xk Darkgray at the start of summer. Big shipping process. But I really freaking enjoy having a chair that doesn’t destroy me.

But here’s a real interesting problem & discovery I’ve made. The problem was that my right arm rest wouldn’t slide back as much as it used to(or as much as the left arm). So I opened it up & found out the bottom half of the slide had shattered into three pieces. The main piece, a circular back piece, & a smaller shard. No biggie, must just be a me problem. Bad plastic mold, bad shipping experience. That’s fine. Glue exists. No way am I shipping it back.

So, after a few days. I glued it back together today & reassembled. Only to find that it can move further forward & backward while being much stiff than the free flow it usually is.

Also no bigge, the angle must be slightly off on the piece but it’ll smooth out over time & it still functions as it should. Only problem is that the left arm rest still has the fast clicky movement but only has as much range. Weird right?

So I open up my left arm rest to check out why the range is off.

Only to find a similar style but far more extreme breakage in the same spot.

And I’ve come to a realization. Colamy either doesn’t care about the plastic quality on this piece or they purposefully leave it broken because it feels better even if it could cause limited movement later on. Because I have seen EVERY single review remark about how free flowing & nice the 4d arm rests are.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I got two uniquely poorly manufactured arm rest pieces. But the way they broke & the same piece without me even noticing it makes me think otherwise

Steelcase, secretlab, sore butt, help!

Upvotes

About 6 years ago I bought a second-hand steelcase leap v2. Modded it with a dodgy headrest. Used it for ages. Great chair. My wife has commandeered it now that she is WFH.

Went to buy a new gesture, 2.5k+ (aud) with headrest. Had a rest of a mates secretlab titan evo. It was super comfy and I loved it. Despite the posts here bashing their ergo, I decided that for less than half the cost of the steelcase, I’d give it a try. 1099 delivered. I’ve had it about 4 weeks. Great quality. Rigid frame. Easy to adjust. Excellent arm rests and the mag cushion headrest is good too.

But oh my days my butt is so so sore. May as well be sitting on a brick wall. I’ve seen the secretlab posts here about ‘we make them firm on purpose for ergo’ but man actual ergo chairs are softer and more ergo? So, I tried an egg sitter (albeit just a knockoff cheap one). No help. Tried to genuine 100aud secretlab plush cushion. No help.

I sit on it for work and play all up probably 11-12 hours almost daily. I feel like I need a butt massage every time I get off it. Today I wondered if it’s on purpose so you’ll buy their standing desk too just to get off their chair for a rest.

Anyone got any goated cushion suggestions to solve my problem? Should I find a genuine eggsitter or just abandon (sell cause I can’t return) the chair?

Or, which chairs in Aus have strong ergo and absolute royal-teir squisherino plush mc daddy thickest seat cushion?

178cm 80kgs regular build.

The $25 Leap V2

Found this for $25 on marketplace on Friday and was just able to pick it up yesterday! It’s in great condition and everything seems to work on the chair. Was thinking about replacing the back and seat foam and upholstery. Question for people who ordered the Crandall Furniture kit, was getting the thicker back pad worth it?

Leap V2 armless retrofit

Upvotes

Has anyone ever retrofitted arms on an armless leap V2? I scored an armless leap for $20 on Facebook marketplace, so I’m not out much if it doesn’t work out. But obviously I’d like to have arms if I could. Info online seems to be mixed on whether or not it’s doable, but if it is I t seems like the hardest part would be sourcing the arm assemblies. I haven’t been able to find anything online. I’ve reached out to Crandall and Steelcase directly, just waiting to hear back.

Just ordered my Anthros

Upvotes

As the title says, I just ordered my Anthros using the Labor Day deal. I’m a bit annoyed that the free shipping code I received through targeted ads didn’t work.

I’m 6'1", 255 lbs, with hip and lower back pain, so I really hope this chair works for me. I got the all-black option for $1,749.00 before shipping and tax, which brought the total to $2,017.44.

At that price, I’m either getting a full 12 years out of this chair or sending it back within the 60-day return window. I want it to work so badly, but it seems a bit “too good to be true.” Hopefully, I’m wrong!

I’ll come back and post a full review once I’ve had enough time to try it out.

Office chair recs for someone who sits cross-legged 6+ hours/day? Budget ~$800

Upvotes

I’m looking to replace my office chair and could use some recommendations, especially from other people who rarely sit still 😂

I’m 5’4” and work from home, so I’m in my chair ~9-10 hours a day. Realistically, I spend 6+ of those hours sitting cross-legged, with one or both legs tucked underneath me, etc. I do also sit normally with my feet on the floor, so I want something that works well for both.

I currently have an Autonomous ErgoChair 2 / older ErgoChair Pro and just cannot get comfortable in it. I actually really like that the seat itself tilts/leans back with me, so I’d love to keep that feeling, but otherwise I’m ready to move on.

What I’m looking for:
● Comfortable for long WFH days
● Works especially well for sitting cross-legged
● A seat pan that doesn’t feel cramped or aggressively contoured
● Comfortable when I do sit normally with my feet on the floor
● Recline/tilt that feels natural — ideally where the seat moves with me
● Adjustable enough for someone 5’4”
● Around $800 max, but happy to buy used/refurbished if that gets me a much better chair

I’ve been looking at Steelcase, Herman Miller, Haworth, etc., but I’m having a hard time figuring out which chairs actually work well for people who sit like I do vs. which are designed around maintaining a very specific ergonomic posture.
Would love to hear from fellow cross-legged chair sitters: what chair do you use, and can you comfortably sit cross-legged in it for hours?

Upvotes

Not too knowledge about chair saw this in marketplace for $40, seller does say its in good condition. Also beside that saw a Hon convergence for $60. Like i said i dont know if these chairs are good but i should wait for something else to showup. Would love to hear some thoughts. Any help appreciated

Need a good ergonomic chair for long work days. Tailbone + neck pain

Upvotes

I’m getting older and apparently my tailbone has decided it hates my current office chair, on top of the neck pain and bad posture I’m already dealing with.

I spend a lot of time at my desk between work and some gaming, so I can easily be sitting for 8 hours at a time. My current chair has been giving me pretty bad tailbone pain, so I recently picked up a used Herman Miller Aeron Size B to try.

So far, it’s not great. It feels pretty hard, my tailbone is still on fire, and I can’t seem to get comfortable in it.

I’m 6’1”, around 220 lbs. I’d like something with really good back/lumbar support, a comfortable recline, and preferably a padded seat instead of mesh, assuming the mesh is what’s bothering my tailbone. A headrest would be a big plus, and ideally I’d love something that reclines well and has a footrest for when I want to lean back while gaming.

I’ve been looking at chairs like the Steelcase Gesture, Leap, Haworth Fern, and HBADA X7.

I’m open to anything.

Any recommendations?

So many choices to choose from!

Upvotes

I have been thinking of buying a chair, and did not know what I was jumping into. I have gone through many of the posts on this sub-Reddit, I have watched BTOD videos.

Seems it really does boil down to try and see if you like it. Because from I gather, it really is about personal choice.

For me, my office is one of the first things that people see when they enter my home. My wife has nudge in the direction of (a chair that meets aesthetics / office design), whereas I am more of whatever is functional.

But wanted to at least look for one and that brought me to Haworth Fern and my other (just functional) choice was the Embody. What has me going back and forth is the quality issues people have spoken about the Fern (some seem to be shipping related issues and assembly). I like the fact that I can return it in 30 days and may go with it.

Anyone here has been happy with the Fern?

Help Identifying This Chair

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

I need help trying to identity this chair, I got it for free of this lady in San Diego.

It’s a 9to5 Seating chair, I’ve tried looking it up but there’s so many chairs and they all look the same, does anyone know what chair this is. I think it’s a Lex? maybe?

If I’m being honest, I am trying to flip it, she says it’s a decent brand; and for $0, it’s hard not to pass up. She says she got it from the office she works at so 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Only thing is that the base where the wheels are is cracked, so I just gotta replace that.

Any guidance or help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated 🥹.

Really lost on my decision

Upvotes

Hey everyone, really new to the chair space. Been using those cheap gaming chairs and I think it’s time for something real.

Been having mid to lower back pain the last few days and realized my current chair is in a rough state, and I think it’s time for a big upgrade.

My budget would be anywhere from 300-600$ (Canadian).

Bonus if I can get it on Prime, as I need something quickly lol.

I was looking at the Sihoo b100 SE and S100, also some HE’s and Howorths but no idea what do consider, and don’t want to overpay for something I can get the same experience with cheaper.

Need help finding a chair - feeling like I’m looking for a unicorn

Upvotes

Hello! I need help finding a chair and I have searched through this subreddit and WFH and others and can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.

I’m 5’5” but with short legs, I’m 185lbs but bottom heavy. A lot of times if I sit with my butt all the way back the seat pan depth feels too deep and I have to lean back to have my back touch the chair. Which makes me lean forward not supported while working.

I have sciatica and get lower back pain.

Budget is $500

I want something comfortable with lumbar support, a head rest, and adjustable arms.

I would love something where I can sit cross legged occasionally. A foot rest would be great too. I have ADHD and like to move around positions.

I currently have the Everdene office ergonomic task chair by the brand Inbox Zero that I bought from Wayfair.

I’m working 5 days a week now, at least 8 hours a day, and my body is starting to hate me a little. I’ve been looking pretty hard at the Libernovo Omni Pro, but then I started thinking a standing desk might be smart too. Problem is, I don’t really have the budget for both right now. It’s one or the other. I haven’t picked a specific standing desk yet either. For long desk days, would you put the money toward a good ergonomic chair first, or a standing desk?
