Hello!

I am the vocalist for the central jersey based band A Parallax View. We play experimental/post-rock and metal, influences are primarily Swans, Free Jazz, and Sumac. Songs are typically long, up to 45mins. We are looking for a bassist who would be up for playing shows in Jersey and Brooklyn in the next few months as well as join the band as a recording/writing member.

All ages are welcome, although 21+ is really preferred because of venue requirements. Familiarity with odd time signatures is definitely desired, we have a track we play live which uses rapidly alternating time. Practices are typically once a week/two weeks in either Rahway or Raritan, but we are flexible in that regard. We are really looking for somebody who doesn’t just play the parts but writes them as well and can bring their own voice to the music.

We currently have mainly demo/live albums out, but we have been working on our first record/song (lol) for around two years and it is likely to be finished in the fall. Best tracks to listen to to get a feel for the music are No Exit and An Evening Redness.

I hope it’s ok to post this here but I am searching for local mixtapes and albums from NJ rappers. I am a big fan of a lot and want to find anything connected with Montclair and Newark and all of Essex county. I am happy to buy files but prefer to buy the original CDs if possible.

Hey all, I am trying to get a live band for my project 'Chronos Devours'. I have a few demos out and more songs completed. I want to have these songs delivered live and then make the opportunity to grow into a more collaborative band. The genre is death metal that weaves between subgenres, with influences ranging from slam and grind like Terrorizer and Cephalotripsy, to more progressive death metal like Akercocke and Nile. I am seeking a lead guitarist, vocalist, and drummer (aged 22-30). I (27) would be on rhythm guitar. (Bassists welcome too, right now they are backing tracked).

Hey! I'm the Social Chair for SAM (KEK) at NJIT Newark NJ. We're looking for local/student bands interested in playing a live backyard show at one of our fraternity parties this semester. We usually host a rock show every fall aswell

We're looking for a high-energy set with recognizable party/rock covers -- stuff like Mr. Brightside, Arctic Monkeys etc, etc. We'd likely be looking for around a 45–60 minute set.

I want to be upfront that we don't currently have a performance budget, but we'd provide food, promote/tag the band heavily through our social media, let you promote your music/socials at the event, get you photos/video from the performance, and can set up a Venmo/tip QR for the crowd. Our bigger events like our Beach party last semester brought in a crowd of 200+ people , def can be a good opportunity to get in front of new people.

Is anyone in New Jersey that plays and knows how to tune a dholak/dholki? I am not a trained percussionist and only play the same couple of rhythms. The treble side sounds great right now, and I was able to tune it to the same key all around. The bass side has lost its juice- I don’t know how else to describe it and I don’t know how to fix it. If you or someone you know is in NJ and would be available to help, let me know, please. Happy to pay for their time.
