Optical illusion from that specific angle aside. Faroe Islands is a beautiful place regardless, would love to visit someday.

Awesome landscape, but also misleading. The lake is at the same height as the ocean, an incline and the video angle makes it look otherwise.
Nature is lit, it doesn't need to be misrepresented.

Confidentally incorrect. The lake surface hovers 32 meters above sea level. The lake surface is NOT at sea level. There's even a waterfall where the lake drains into the sea. Good luck swimming up.
But the caves don't reach until underneath the lake that'san illusion.
And on camera the magic effect appears, even without filters, much more dramatic than when you're there. With your own eyes it's not the lake but the cliffs that capture the attention.

If we're getting semantic here, pretty much all lakes are above sea level. I should have worded it as "the lake is not significantly higher than sea level", as these posts like to portray the lake as the same height above the sea as the top of the cliff face. 32 meters is not a small distance, but it's not nearly what the illusion of the video would have you believe. Geographically speaking, 32 meters above sea level is not significant.

Well, when the lake is barely 100 meters from the ocean, a height of 32 meters seems quite significant to me.

To me it's not, since that 100 meters includes some of the highest vertical sea cliffs in Europe and the world. Don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely stunning view which I'm sure the video doesn't do justice to. Besides, that's around a 10th of the islands average elevation (~300m).

How is this semantics. You said the lake is level with the ocean and it's not, simple as that.
Relative to the distance to the Sun Mount Everest is a hair, relative to a puffin egg any drop of 5 cm is fatal. We humans live at a human scale and there 32 meters is more than just your average tall building.

As I said in my response, 32 meters isn't a small height. I am saying that I don't find it significant when compared to the cliff in front of it in the picture which is 3 to 4 hundred meters tall. I'm not judging this to a human scale, as I said in my response, I am judging on a geographic scale.

Ok I agree but the elevation of the lake is still 30-40 meters which would allow for caves underneath to form.
