Beginner fishing in/around Raleigh

Been told to go touch grass one too many times and decided to get back into fishing after a long hiatus. Wanted to see if there are any local spots I can try out around here. I don't have a boat so I'd like to stick to bank fishing if possible. Also any advice on what baits/lures to bring would be greatly appreciated

Also if anyone wants a plus one on their next trip feel free to send a DM, I just moved down here so I'd love to make a few new friends.

I’ve never fish Raleigh but here are some things I’d recommend to catch anything from the bank. For crankbaits try a Rebel crickhopper in the fire tiger pattern, a Berkley flicker shad in black silver or pearl white. Get the smaller sizes of each. Get a few of the small Rooster Tails in fire tiger, black and whatever color looks good to you. Also try a weedless Ned rig with a pb&j color. Fish cover - downed trees, docks, rock walls, etc. Good luck!

Most bridges over Falls Lake have pull offs at either end and trails down to the water. All the land around the lake is state game lands.
