I was listening to a cover of Up The Junction by The Squeeze being performed by a band called The Lathums. It’s so similar to the original song I really don’t understand what could be gained by performing it so closely. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it got me thinking about covers and why some bands aren’t interested in taking their own spin on a song. Personally I would rather just listen to the original rather than a beat for beat cover.

Another example is Take It Easy. I know Jackson Browne Co-Wrote this but it’s practically the same as The Eagles version, I’d simply never feel a need to listen to Brownes version.

What are some other examples of this?

My pick will definitely be Black Sabbath's first 6 albums. They were incredibly important, influential, defining but most of all they were all very different from each other (inside the respective genre), coherent, creative and filled to the brim with incredible all time riffs and performances... And just insane songs overall, the amount of great material is absurd.

The radio feature and all “for you” playlists contains commercially promoted music and they don’t publish what percent or label what songs. I hadn’t seen a post about this so it might be common knowledge on here idk.

Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas exactly 30 years ago to the minute, he would pass away six days later. He left behind an undying legacy and an extensive amount of music.

His message and impact are still felt to this day.
