Unshocked with Naomi Klein

“When people can buy elections, when people can buy governments… that for me is a fundamentally a threat to democracy. Being against billionaires is not a left right issue. This is about whether you care about democracy or not.”

The world’s worst person is also the world’s first trillionaire. In this latest episode of ‘Unshocked,’ Naomi Klein and Mehdi Hasan break down what Elon Musk’s trillionaire status means for democracy, capitalism and the rise of racism.

In the conversation, Naomi and Mehdi explain how political corruption, government subsidies and IPO promises make up Musk’s new trillionaire status. They also dive into what the increased influence of billionaires means for the state of democracy, noting how Musk is taking advantage over people’s anger over wealth inequality and directing it to migrants.

They also discuss how SpaceX IPO is based on unrealistic goals, Musk’s feud with Ro Khanna and protests in Albania over the Trump family.

Gaza is Being Starved; Reddit-mods suggesting constructive actions

Upvotes

The UN has stated that every single part of Gaza is in famine conditions.

For over 20 months, Palestinians in Gaza have been starving. Parents have been feeding their children leaves, animal feed, and flour mixed with water. Babies have died from malnutrition. The trucks carrying food, formula, medicine, and clean water sat just miles away, blocked by Israel.

Now, after massive international pressure, some aid is finally getting in.

This is a crack in the blockade, not its end. Aid is not flooding in; it is trickling, and what’s entering can’t possibly reach 1.8 million people without a total lifting of restrictions, guaranteed long-term access, and safe distribution.

What you can do right now:

Donate- if you’re able to. Choose vetted organizations with access on the ground.

Keep up the pressure - aid only started moving because of public outcry. Organize, protest, keep talking. This momentum cannot fade. Contact your representatives to end Israel's blockade of Gaza and impose sanctions on Israel.

Amplify - share updates, Palestinian voices, and testimonies. Keep an eye on Palestine.

This famine is not an accident. It’s the result of siege, blockade, and a system of control. If we look away now, they’ll tighten the noose again.

Donate

Palestinian Red Crescent — medical aid, ambulance services, and emergency care.

UNICEF for Gaza’s Children — nutrition, clean water, trauma support.

Zeteo Anti-War Scientist Takes On AIPAC-Backed Congressman

Thumbnail

“We need a foreign policy — sensible, humane foreign policy based on national interest and national security, not faulty intelligence, not foreign government’s influence, not war profiteering.”

Scientist Karishma Manzur is challenging four-term, AIPAC backed Congressman Chris Pappas in the New Hampshire Democratic primary. Pappas — backed by Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton and Pete Buttigieg — trails Republicans in the polls. Yet, even with establishment backing, Manzur has been gaining ground.

Manzur has spent much of her career outside politics. As a scientist, she worked for decades on treatments for illnesses including epilepsy and depression before turning toward politics. She says her experiences shaped her views on American power and foreign policy.

In a candid conversation with Zeteo political correspondent Prem Thakker, Manzur explained how U.S.-funded violence in Bangladesh influenced the way she sees American foreign policy, why she believes Washington’s wars are intertwined with corporate profiteering and how Trump has used conflict overseas to avoid scrutiny over the Epstein files.

Manzur also discussed if she would support Chuck Schumer as Senate leader, challenged the establishment’s definition of who belongs inside the party and criticized efforts in Washington to bring the U.S. and Israeli militaries together.

Mehdi Interview The FBI Surveilled THOUSANDS and Thousands of Muslim Americans

Thumbnail

Constant surveillance, anti-immigration policies, and open hatred… Has Islamophobia in the U.S. gotten worse since 9/11? And did anti-Muslim bigotry in America exist long before then?

Yes and yes, argues journalist and author Rozina Ali, as she joins Mehdi for a conversation about the history of Islamophobia and her powerful new book, Seasons of Fury: Four Families and the Rise of Islamophobia in America.

Ali’s book examines the way Islamophobia is “manufactured and encouraged” in the U.S., tracing its roots back well before 9/11, to the 1940s. Today, xenophobic persecution is not reserved for Muslims. Ali explains how the Donald Trump administration is using vague anti-terror laws to target anyone it deems a political enemy.

Ali breaks down the way “thousands and thousands” of Muslim Americans were surveilled by the FBI and undercover informants, and explores the role Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu played in shaping what we know to be Islamophobia today.

Zeteo's Mehdi Hasan stops by for a political conversation about Donald Trump’s second term, describing it as extraordinarily corrupt, with examples including crypto dealings, foreign money flowing into Trump-linked accounts, no-bid contracts, and family members benefiting from government connections. It also discusses the political fallout from the Iran war, rising gas prices, and how these issues may hurt Republicans heading into the midterms, while arguing that Democrats are gaining energy and could win key races in the House, Senate, and states like Michigan and Texas. A major part of the discussion focuses on anti-Muslim racism and hypocrisy in political and media coverage, especially around Arab-American and Muslim candidates such as Abdul El-Sayed and Zohran Mamdani, and criticizes Democrats for not consistently defending Muslims.

Mehdi Interview ‘You Sound Insanely RACIST’: Mehdi Confronts Pete Hegseth’s Pastor Ally

Thumbnail

What would America look like under a Christian nationalist government?

According to Pastor Douglas Wilson – who preached at Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon earlier this year – that would mean repealing the 19th Amendment, barring non-Christians from voting, and not only ending gay marriage, but expelling the states that try to uphold it.

In this ‘Mehdi Unfiltered’ interview, Mehdi gets into a HEATED debate with Wilson over whether the U.S. was ever meant to be a Christian nation. Mehdi also challenges Wilson on his vision for America, as well as his controversial views on slavery – which Wilson has described as a “relationship based upon mutual affection.”

Mehdi Interview A New SQUAD Could Reshape Congress in 2027

With the midterm elections less than three months away, Justice Democrats’ communications director Usamah Andrabi joins Mehdi Hasan in this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered’ to break down what has, so far, been a big year for progressives, and what these victories mean for the future of the left and the Democratic Party.

As AIPAC continues to pour millions of dollars against pro-Palestinian candidates, Andrabi explained how big a role Gaza has played in the Democratic primaries, telling Mehdi that Gaza’s genocide has become “such agalvanizing issue because it's a moral question for so many voters.”

Andrabi explained to Mehdi that Justice Democrats, a progressive political action committee, has been focused on replacing establishment, AIPAC-backed representatives in deep-blue congressional districts.

In the past months, Justice Democrats has successfully endorsed several House candidates in their primaries, including Darializa Avila Chevalier. Claire Valdez. Dr. Adam Hamawy. Donavan McKinney. Chris Rabb.
