Storage Setups Lego manuals sorted by theme and #. I used a similar method as the pinned thread except I store them in 13" cubby storage bins which allows them to get stored on the bottom row of my Kallax displays.

Trans sort of larger pieces today

This does not include vehicle windshields. This is what's currently sitting in a few of my bins. I'm going through ideas in my mind. I think I've got something figured out. I will post a photo of what I decide.

Obviously, too many pieces and too large to occupy that many drawers with the amount of use, so it'll be a Lego storage/storage.

I'm initially thinking a clear 27 gallon bin with bags numbered with the part number

I will do vehicle windshields probably tomorrow. That's an even bigger project.

I have this 115L tub of lego i purchased years ago and would love to sort/have organized. There are a lot of off brand pieces I would like to split out as well.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to start out I would really appreciate it, it seems so overwhelming

Looking for advice on disassembling Lego sets and storing/organizing them for future rebuild?

Upvotes

Essentially, I need to downsize for a bit and I absolutely do not want to get rid of the sets, but I don't have the option to store them if they're built, or even taken apart into smaller chunks. Many of them were built 3-4 years ago at this point, and I'd prefer to fully disassemble them so I can rebuild in the future. (Luckily, I have adhd and crappy memory due to it, so rebuilding them will essentially feel like the first time again 😂)

Assuming that I could find the build instructions online, I am rather concerned and clueless about how I could disassemble and store them similar to how they are organized and packaged originally. I don't think it would be practical to just have one big massive bag to sift through when it comes time to rebuild.

Any advice? Would I be able to find out how the sets were packaged to follow the instruction booklet? Or is there any other way ways to go about this? Orrrr am I kinda SOL and asking for too much here 😅

Tips/Tricks Akro-Mills 24 Bin Full, What’s Next?

Upvotes

I’ve been sorting by piece, upgrading to larger Akro-Mills containers as I fill each piece type. I now have too many 1x4, 2x4 and 2x6 plates that each bin is completely full. What is everyone’s recommendations for organizing now that I have hit that point?

Need project ideas

Upvotes

I have multiple 18 gallon totes of assorted LEGO I've acquired/been gifted over the years. No design sets, just buckets of random bricks and need project ideas(s). Maybe flood coat them with epoxy for game table legs or something?

Storage Setups Any good organizers/containers for minifigures?

First page is this little wall I have. Anytime I put any minifigures on there, they’re either really unstable or don’t fit.

Second page is another display I have. This one is really hard to organize minifigures on, plus it makes them look cramped.

Last page is the thing I’m sort of looking for, but one that fits LEGO minifigures. I’ve searched everywhere (minifigures are around 2 inches), and all I can find are really small ones. If I find big ones, they only fit like three side by side.

Storage Setups The neverending Lego sort

Back when my kid was at the tender age of 4 with a couple of Lego sets, I optimistically decided that sorting his Lego collection into an Ikea Trofast system was the perfect way to organize his collection.

Fourteen years and 42 Trofast bins stuff full with no discernable organization to be seen, I realize what a mistake that was. I started the sorting process back in January by sorting everything into broad categories- bricks, tiles, plates, ect ect. I was able to get 20 bins done. I still have 22 unsorted. I quickly realized that the Trofast bins weren't going to work long term and decided to go with Alex drawers with Target drawer organizers. I've been able to sort maybe 8 of my presorted bins down into smaller categories- I opted to sort by part, reasoning that it would be easier to find a specific color within the same group.

I have completely underestimated how long this will take. I may have also underestimated how many Alex drawers I will need. I figure by the time I realize that, it'll be another several months and they might be on sale again. We shall see.

Trans Clear Sort/Org

Re-organized my clear drawers today. This is before I go through a bunch of bulk ... so I'm trying to make room. Anything that gets too big, like the one by one round plates, will be put into long-term storage and labeled appropriately. These are Sterilite x 12 12 containers with STORI dividers. I find this system really handy. I've posted some of my other sorting. I thought this one looked pretty good.

Recommendations are always welcome.

I picked up 2 bins of unsorted LEGO 2 years ago. And I finally mustered up the patience and time to knock out bin 2. These wood shaker sorters have helped so much.

AFol, 32 yo , been MOC building for 3 years now. Started from zero materials in 2023

Once I discovered these at Home Depot, I couldn’t stop really…

The removable cups are the biggest efficiency factor when it comes to locating and pulling pieces on the fly. You simply keep a dump tub to the side , dump the cup and pull what you need , rinse and repeat.
