My dogs paw print is destroyed

Post image

When my dog died we got her paw print done, I just found out that my little sister completely ruined it. I can’t really be mad at her since she’s a 10 year old autistic child and I think this might have happened a month or two ago but I’m still angry and omg

Edit: I talked to her about it and she doesn’t remember it and was very confused about what I was showing her. I’m probably not gonna try to get it reprinted because it won’t be the same and it’ll probably be expensive, especially since I found her painted paw prints that I made with her the day before she died. Also the paw print was stored in a bookshelf in a hallway at my house, it wasn’t in my room because everyone loved that dog so it wasn’t on display, we didn’t think she would be interested in it but we think that she thought it was makeup and she has a habit of messing with and destroying makeup

Also I’m not going to break her stuff, I’m not going to teach her that breaking stuff when you’re mad at someone is okay.

Autistic or not, you need to explain to her the gravity of what she has done.

It’s just hard because it was probably around a month or two ago, I don’t know if she would really understand me since it’s not recent. I’m going to try to talk to her about it tomorrow. I don’t want to talk to her when I’m still upset

You're a good sibling

u/hellspawn3200 Aug 03 '26

She'll still know. Just name sure she links your not upset and that she needs to be more careful.

Is she autistic to a mentally handicapped degree or is her autism less debilitating?

u/ZenPixels Community Regular Aug 04 '26

She can’t like read and write, she doesn’t really understand how her actions effect others

Affect is a verb meaning to influence or change, while effect is a noun meaning a result or consequence. Affect would be the correct word to use here I hope you edit your comment.

OP, is your sister more or less autistic than this guy?

u/No-Promotion4006 Aug 08 '26

Well, considering I can read and write, the sister is obviously more autistic. Based on that metric, it seems that OP would be more autistic than myself also.

You’re insufferable lmao

u/Maximum-Tip4869 Aug 09 '26

You are correct, but I think you’re skills are needed somewhere else

I'm out in these streets doing grassroots activism for literacy. Why is that a bad thing?

u/Reciprocitus 23d ago

You did something with grass alright, but it ain't activism.

You should definitey go outside and touch some though.

u/No-Promotion4006 23d ago

What's "though"? Why would I want to touch some "though"?

Effect can also be a verb ("to effect change"), however OP did not use that form.

Affect*

u/Juliennix Aug 06 '26

man, OP just lost something dear to them, you don't need to be a dick about grammar when the intent was clear.

I never remember which one to use lol

u/Opening_Package_722 Aug 06 '26

I use the word impact instead, now I don’t need to remember which is which

u/ZenPixels Community Regular Aug 06 '26

This might be genius

u/ParticularLower1865 Aug 06 '26

Affect is to change. Effect is the result. Do you see how this affected you? I bet it’ll have a lasting effect.

u/EnvironmentalLime464 Aug 06 '26

It it’s an action it’s affect. Think of the A’s. Action and Affect.

This is how I always remember.

u/bboringg27 Aug 07 '26

I use rAVEN. Affect = Verb, Effect = Noun.

To affect, the effect of, etc

u/eternal_refrigerator Aug 09 '26

Totally off topic but MOOOOOOMMMMIIIINNNNN

u/pourborn Aug 08 '26

I was taught to remember affect = action effect = end result. Sorry about your loss ☹️

Their autistic, not a dog. I would treat them like a human and talk to them

u/TheOneICallMe Aug 07 '26

As an autistic person who struggled growing up, its important to have the conversations sometimes even if they are difficult. You dont need to blame her or make her feel guilty, jus tuse it as an opportunity for learning.

u/aledba Aug 09 '26

Assume competence always. She's got a developmental disorder, presumably not an intellectual one. This is a message from my autism

u/hard-dee4u Aug 03 '26

Don’t talk to her about it she won’t get it and it’ll upset both of us

u/Lazy-Main1782 Aug 03 '26

Bring it up like when she’s a little older or do it now. Regardless, she needs to be thought a lesson.

u/Mist_biene Aug 03 '26

Depends hugly about how autistic she is. You have no clue is she can ot can't understand if explained patiently.

u/CourageSharp8144 Aug 06 '26

Both of us??
