I'm currently planning my first trip to India for next winter, and I'm really excited. I'm 21F Canadian and I want to make friends in the places I'm visiting (Delhi, Agra, Kerala).

What is the best way to do this? Is it common to talk to other people at cafes, hotels, activities, etc.?

The landscape here honestly doesn’t feel real. The mountains, empty roads and that quietness make Spiti such a different experience. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited.

1. If you went recently, was is very crowded and since the Shravan month is over, will it be right expect less crowd?

Hey, Sri Lankan here..I was on my usual morning ride through Galle Fort Sri Lanka today and witnessed something really disappointing.

A group of Indian tourists, probably in their 45–60+ age range, got down from a Coaster bus near the Dutch Hospital. One of the ladies used a tissue and then simply threw it onto the wall right next to a sign that clearly says not to litter.
The irony was hard to miss ,the sign was literally right there.

I took a photo of the spot & when I got closer I saw few tissues laying on the ground next to the board. I’m not trying to generalize about all Indian tourists, because obviously one person’s behaviour doesn’t represent an entire nationality. But when you’re visiting a UNESCO World Heritage Site like Galle Fort, basic respect for the place should be a given, regardless of where you’re from.

Sri Lanka welcomes millions of tourists, and we want people to enjoy our country. But please, don’t treat our historical sites like garbage dumps. Pick up your trash and put it in a bin.

It’s really not that difficult.

POSTING AGAIN AS THE TIMELINE IS COMING CLOSE

Plan A: I was planning a solo, alpine style trek to Gaumukh Tapovan in the last week of September/first week of October. But a few factors have made me rethinking my decision, including weather conditions and the extremely high cost of hiring a local guide in addition to renting gears like a tent.

So i have come up with a Plan B: I am sharing the ss of a bike trip that will ride me through beautiful landscapes and apple orchids of harsil valley, thick deodar region from Purola to Mori, the riverside long stretches of Tons river and if i am lucky enough, the vast brown/grey high altitude valley of Nelong, Gartang Gali, all the way to Sankri and beautiful Chakrata. I'll have a proper mix of living it slow in Harsil for 3 days and also riding my beautiful bike for 100-150 km on a couple of days to enjoy riding, doing beautiful photography and stopping

wherever i want to breathe in the Himalayan beauty.

The itinerary cost: 1. for approximately 1500 kms of riding, fuel cost will come around 4000-5000/-

1. Stays: I will be staying in basic hostels/homestays so i am expecting around 8000-10000/-

2. Food: Add another 1000 per day so 8000/-

Total itinerary cost could fall around 20000/- to 23000/-

If any rider, or any enthusiast, wants to tag along on the same dates as mine, feel free to join in!! Can prove to be more economical and we'll have each other to take lovely photos of us and our bikes!

Need advice planning Ladakh + Zanskar bike trip (Sept 13 onwards)
Hi everyone! I’m planning a 14–15 day Ladakh bike trip and would love some advice from people who have done these routes.
I’ll land in Leh from Delhi on Sept 13 morning and plan to rent bikes there.
I’m interested in doing both:
🏔️ Zanskar Circuit:
Leh → Kargil → Suru Valley → Rangdum → Pensi La → Padum → Gonbo Rangjon → Zanskar monasteries → Kargil → Leh
🏔️ Eastern Ladakh Circuit:
Leh → Nubra → Pangong → Tso Moriri → Hanle/Umling La → Leh
A few questions:
Do I need 2 days to acclimatize in Leh, or is 1 full day enough?
Can both circuits be combined into one continuous route, or is it better to return to Leh between them?
What would be the smartest 14–15 day itinerary without making every day extremely tiring?
Any places I should skip if needed?
How are the roads, permits, fuel and accommodation in September, especially around Gonbo Rangjon?
Main priorities are scenery, riding and less-touristy places.
Any advice from people who have actually done these routes would be greatly appreciated!
