The difference being a) Michael wasnāt doing it for internet points, but because he sincerely wanted to help those kids, b) Michael wasnāt a millionaire (he was more broke than when he made the promise).
I was about to say, maybe Iām the asshole but $500 aināt shit these days. That being said, depending on the context like sure itās great they donated but I get the sense thatās being generous given how much of it just looks like a photo op.

So I have a short track car we do local dirt oval racing with. Pretty much every end of season / memorial / Holliday weekend race is a ābig dealā now so everyone gets these checks, except the 4 bangers are racing for like $150 bucks lol
Presumably because sheās not spayed? $600 is a lot less than itāll cost the shelter when they have to fix the unwanted puppies when your intact dog roams and gets pregnant by the local pitbull/chihuahua. I get it sucks but it should be expensive for people to keep their dogs unfixed if they canāt keep it contained.
Influencer is a dirty word now. A lot of people respond to influencers the same way they would respond to somebody telling them they are a real estate agent or they work for ICE š¤®
I spent $500 on lap dances one night back in 2014 and I was pretty poor. Kind of ridiculous in this day to see some shamfluencer doing the "giant check" bullshit for the same amount.
I donated $500 to a cat rescue, didnāt tell anybody until now, ate some pizza, read a book and went to sleep. There should be an internet challenge where you have to do something really nice anonymously and never tell anybody about it. That would break these charity posers minds. Bet they couldnāt do it.

Do they have to buy a new giant check every time? Seems to me it would make more sense to buy one reusable one, then write in the name/amount with a dry erase marker as needed.
A one time donation of $500 should not be enough to buy you the opportunity to a speak into a microphone in front of these children. Do not waste everyoneās time so you can LARP as a princess.
If she had pledged a donation of $50 a month for only a year and some of her time without the cameras, she wouldāve donated more overall and made more of a difference.

At my school each player on the basketball team individually raised 500. Overall Iāve raised 2000 for my team, 500 is nothing and we know she came from a good family that could afford better, regardless if she won the show
I mean itās a lot of hoopla, but $500 is still $500; I am sure the kids are happy to have some funds for their team. Although I do think the giant check was in poor taste- the money it cost to make that could have been handed over to the team instead.
Iām not Jewish, but there is a Jewish concept that I love. If you do an act of charity, whether itās donating money or a kind act, and then tell others about it, any moral goodness is eroded and it doesnt count in Godās eyes.
If you're a millionaire and you donate $500, you should be embarrassed and they should throw that big ass check back at you and tell you get the fuck on.
500?????? For all that. Seriouslyā¦..thank gd I make a decent living. 500 is actually a decent chunk for me to give for charity to one place. I would say she should be embarrassed but that is a word that no longer has any meaning in our societyā¦ā¦
