VIDEO Influencer millionaire donates $500 and spends more money on the photo op than the children
•
u/Bakilas 4d ago
Donating $500 and acting like you paid off a new library wing is wild.
•
u/BoulderMaker 4d ago
I'm told a man named Michael Scott paid for a student's computer battery? šŖ«
So there's that...
•
u/Getoff-my_8allz 4d ago
Hey those batteries were lithium and he brought one for each of the class. Even fictional characters donate more then this chick.
•
u/BulkyDecipherer 4d ago
The difference being a) Michael wasnāt doing it for internet points, but because he sincerely wanted to help those kids, b) Michael wasnāt a millionaire (he was more broke than when he made the promise).

u/GOURMANDIZER 4d ago
I had to rewind and count the zeros š¤£
$500 is a crazy amount to write on a novelty giant check and have a ceremony about.•
u/Amanda316 3d ago
Probably the minimum they would do a big check for. Adding the .00 at the end to make it look bigger is crazy.
→ More replies (1)•
u/Undrwtrbsktwvr 3d ago
A big check is just a prop-piece of cardboard, You can have one printed for a half-penny if you wanted.

•
u/WhitePhat 4d ago
I was about to say, maybe Iām the asshole but $500 aināt shit these days. That being said, depending on the context like sure itās great they donated but I get the sense thatās being generous given how much of it just looks like a photo op.
•
u/BulkyDecipherer 4d ago
I couldnāt have said it better myself.
$5,000, okay. But $500? Seriously?

This reminds me of when Michael Scott donates to cure rabies and spends as much on the giant novelty check as what heās donating.

this has to be raigebait or delusion bc what in the fuck? who would be THIS dense, $500 doesnt cover anything but maybe fkr them $500 is enough? idk. this is rudiculious.
→ More replies (3)•
u/Gooncookies 3d ago
Yea like $500 you just fold up and slip into someoneās palm. The giant check is wild.
•
u/p4p4shili 4d ago
The giant check with the 500$ written on it is so ridiculous

u/puaka 4d ago
She really thinks she did a Mr. Beast thing with the 500 bucks š

u/Cool-Inflation4159 4d ago
Right. There needs to be a minimum amount required for giant novelty checks. Needs to be in the tens of thousands in my opinion.
•
u/razldazl333 3d ago
Now I want to get a novelty check to pay my bar tab at the end of a slow night.
•
u/p4p4shili 4d ago
Well yeah I bet she can invest 10k $ without any problems, considering her outfit probably costs more.
•
•
u/drkrelic OG 3d ago
I burst out laughing when I figured out it was only $500, thatās insane. This feels like an onion skit, the way sheās posing with them all like she did something incredible.
•
u/thissexypoptart 3d ago
This has to be a skit, right?
A grown adult woman couldnāt possibly think throwing herself a celebration over donating $500 is appropriate, right?

$500? In this economy? That wonāt even buy the entire team new uniforms.

u/Smooth_Marsupial_262 4d ago
My dog go picked up and dropped off at the pound the other day. Cost me $600 just to get her out! Fucking Californiaā¦
•
u/tree_people 3d ago
Presumably because sheās not spayed? $600 is a lot less than itāll cost the shelter when they have to fix the unwanted puppies when your intact dog roams and gets pregnant by the local pitbull/chihuahua. I get it sucks but it should be expensive for people to keep their dogs unfixed if they canāt keep it contained.

Theyād document the whole thing and release a 47 part series about it on TikTok and start selling courses on how not to be an influencer.

I kind of want to anonymously donate $501... Anyone know the organization?
Update: I anonymously donated $251 to my local high school. My employer will also match $251.
•
u/jonz1985z 4d ago
Same. A bunch of people should do it and actually raise real money.

Let's do it Price Is Right style and I'll donate $502 just to beat you and get on the stage with Bob, lol.
•
u/metallosherp 4d ago
I spent $500 on lap dances one night back in 2014 and I was pretty poor. Kind of ridiculous in this day to see some shamfluencer doing the "giant check" bullshit for the same amount.
•
u/Wizzle_Pizzle_420 4d ago
I donated $500 to a cat rescue, didnāt tell anybody until now, ate some pizza, read a book and went to sleep. There should be an internet challenge where you have to do something really nice anonymously and never tell anybody about it. That would break these charity posers minds. Bet they couldnāt do it.

u/Gucci_Loincloth 3d ago
I was about to say. Anyone even relatively BROKE could fucking donate $500 lmfao; this almost makes no sense.
Same story as yours, oddly enough for some reason the same year and everything. I think it was my 18-19th brithday and got swindled at the strip club lmfao

How much do giant cheques cost? I feel like there should be $1000 minimum for giant cheques.
•
u/Far-Imagination2736 4d ago
Giant checks cost like $70-$120, custom costs more
•
u/Whelp_of_Hurin 4d ago
Do they have to buy a new giant check every time? Seems to me it would make more sense to buy one reusable one, then write in the name/amount with a dry erase marker as needed.

A one time donation of $500 should not be enough to buy you the opportunity to a speak into a microphone in front of these children. Do not waste everyoneās time so you can LARP as a princess.
If she had pledged a donation of $50 a month for only a year and some of her time without the cameras, she wouldāve donated more overall and made more of a difference.
Nothing gets me heated more than faux charity. And if that check bounces I swear to GOD
•
u/AshingiiAshuaa 4d ago
What's the minimum for writing a giant check and not feeling like a douche? $10k?
The check itself has to cost 10%-20% or more of the donation.
•
u/EverydayPigeon 4d ago
yh, even 5k definitely not, 50k I guess you can have this fanfare if you have to but even then it's so self-aggrandising
•
•
u/Square_Barracuda_69 3d ago
$500 is such an insignificant amount with the theatrics that are behind this video. Absolutely braindead to be thinking this was a good idea

It's very respectable to donate. Donations DO help but acting like $500 is a life-changing amount of money is ridiculous.
•
u/Imnacho408 3d ago
This bitch.... either do 500 privately and dont show off, or for this type of thing, do like at least 100,000
•
u/NoOnSB277 3d ago
I mean itās a lot of hoopla, but $500 is still $500; I am sure the kids are happy to have some funds for their team. Although I do think the giant check was in poor taste- the money it cost to make that could have been handed over to the team instead.
•
u/Lady_Mallard 3d ago
Iām not Jewish, but there is a Jewish concept that I love. If you do an act of charity, whether itās donating money or a kind act, and then tell others about it, any moral goodness is eroded and it doesnt count in Godās eyes.
