Unfortunately I also knew who they were. But they were both still relatively fringe figures, particularly Candace. She’s only relevant now because she’s on the antisemite grift and tying it to Charlie’s death
Oh yeah! You’re right. She sort of made a name by being the anti BLM black lady. I forgot. I listened to her on Rogan back then. Wow I’m really ashamed to admit that hahaha
First I remember of BLM was as a hashtag when Trayvon Martin died. I don’t remember what year that was but Kendrick Lamar references his death on To Pimp a Butterfly which came out in 2015 (unfortunately, Kendrick was the biggest hypocrite of that year), so it’s been around since before 2018 for sure.
it was 2012 but the movement started picking up in 2013 after george zimmerman got acquitted, and then blew up in 2014 after michael brown and the ferguson stuff
Nah Candace has had a massive following for at least a decade now, consistently getting millions of views on YouTube and facebook. It’s what allowed her to be comfortable burning the bridge with Ben Shapiro’s media network because she knew no matter what her massive following would follow her.
Eh tbh I was pretty active in politics and 2021 was the first time I truly heard of Candace Owens. Even in my Republican phase I always took her as a quack. It wasn’t until 2022 or 2023 that I was familiar with Kirk either. I guess in hindsight I’d seen them in pics but never knew who they were at the time.

If you were at all tuned in with American Politics in 2018 you would know who Kirk and Owens were.
