If you were at all tuned in with American Politics in 2018 you would know who Kirk and Owens were.

u/almostasenpai Apr 05 '26

Ben Shapiro and Charlie Kirk were everywhere in 2016

u/mrpoopybuttthole_ Apr 05 '26

ben got memed then, that’s why people knew him, kirk only got memed last few years

u/EmperorAcinonyx Apr 05 '26

no, you just weren't tuned in. people have been clowning charlie and tpusa for a decade. i know because i was there lol

u/ocudr Apr 05 '26

Same. The meme about kirk back then was that his face was too small for his head.

u/NeverHadAGoodUsernam Apr 05 '26

You should be less confident in the things you say

“My wife is a doctor”

I remember Candace owens from that "social autopsy" bullshit before she became a conservatard grifter

u/Delicious-Image-3082 Apr 05 '26

As u/captaincookbaby said, yeah I unfortunately knew about them too
No comment on Kirk cus ion wanna get banned

u/sendphotopls shout out my stove Apr 05 '26

Yeah this speaks more about this persons ignorance than anything else lmao

u/captaincookbaby Apr 05 '26

Unfortunately I also knew who they were. But they were both still relatively fringe figures, particularly Candace. She’s only relevant now because she’s on the antisemite grift and tying it to Charlie’s death

u/baseballdude6969 Apr 05 '26

Nah she was big around BLM too

u/captaincookbaby Apr 05 '26

Oh yeah! You’re right. She sort of made a name by being the anti BLM black lady. I forgot. I listened to her on Rogan back then. Wow I’m really ashamed to admit that hahaha

u/Bread_Fish150 Apr 05 '26

2018 was before BLM became big right? Or do I got my years jumbled up.

u/Turt1estar Apr 05 '26

BLM peaked in 2020 but I would say it got “big” toward the end of Obama’s second term.

u/Striking_Resist_6022 Apr 05 '26

First I remember of BLM was as a hashtag when Trayvon Martin died. I don’t remember what year that was but Kendrick Lamar references his death on To Pimp a Butterfly which came out in 2015 (unfortunately, Kendrick was the biggest hypocrite of that year), so it’s been around since before 2018 for sure.

u/baseballdude6969 Apr 05 '26

She’s had a presence since before BLM, that’s just when she got her mainstream break.

u/ctierra512 Apr 06 '26

it was 2012 but the movement started picking up in 2013 after george zimmerman got acquitted, and then blew up in 2014 after michael brown and the ferguson stuff

at least that’s how i remember it

u/mnmr17 Apr 05 '26

Nah Candace has had a massive following for at least a decade now, consistently getting millions of views on YouTube and facebook. It’s what allowed her to be comfortable burning the bridge with Ben Shapiro’s media network because she knew no matter what her massive following would follow her.

u/stankboxers Apr 05 '26

i knew about candance in 2018 but tbh didn't know who kirk was till two or months or so before he passed

u/RealJBMusic Apr 05 '26

Eh tbh I was pretty active in politics and 2021 was the first time I truly heard of Candace Owens. Even in my Republican phase I always took her as a quack. It wasn’t until 2022 or 2023 that I was familiar with Kirk either. I guess in hindsight I’d seen them in pics but never knew who they were at the time.

u/AfroKyrie Apr 05 '26

If you're active in right wing American politics*

u/mfpacman Apr 05 '26

Nope, I definitely knew who they were because I was tapped into politics and wanted to know what the nazis fuckin looked like
