I still believe that Q-Tip is the one Black Muslim that’s actually pretty chill about his own beliefs

He told Kanye that hating Jews is pretty warped, after all, and this is a guy who’s always hit the Five Percenter pipe pretty hard

u/guy4guy4guy Aug 14 '25

Yeah being black Muslim/Israelite doesn't mean hating Jews but there are popular communities in those spaces that hate jews

u/LTS55 Aug 14 '25

Yup, there are a few sects of BI that are straight up classified as hate groups

u/lexE5839 Aug 14 '25

Kendrick’s cousin just happens to be in one of those

u/guy4guy4guy Aug 14 '25

It's said seeing the radical hate ones reach more popularity nowadays

There’s a big Black Israelite community in Dimona Israel. They originate from the OG group from the 70’s, I think back then it wasn’t hateful at all towards Jews just thought they were descendants of a long lost tribe and part of the Jewish diaspora. I guess the extremism evolved later on in some circles.

u/guy4guy4guy Aug 15 '25

Poor guys nobody deserves to live in dimona

u/itay162 Aug 17 '25

Maybe the radiation textiles somehow detadicalized them

u/guy4guy4guy Aug 17 '25

Hey! I'm a byproduct of the dimona "textile" factory and I'm very radical

As a Jew I haven't thought much about it when I first learned about Jamaicans and Zion and all that. But the more I think about it feels very uncomfortable to me. It's similar to those white girls spending some time in an ashram and start claiming they're guru's and wear white linen all the time. It gets even more crazy when they start to erase your culture and claim you're the one stealing it.

u/guy4guy4guy Aug 17 '25

Honestly I'm also Jewish it never fucked with me, like I hate anti-Semitism (ofc) but these people I always felt like "oh shit they crazy" and never more than that

iirc one sect of black israelites straight up just integrated with conservative judaism, michelle obamas cousin is a rabbi for them https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commandment_Keepers

(and btw for those wondering conservative judaism has nothing to do with conservative politics, it's just called that because its in between reform and orthodox)

Rap is pretty conservative in nature tbh nobody really points that out. That’s why I enjoy it I think

That's really cool, makes sense if you really think about how the sect of conservative Judaism would look to people in christo-centric communities

Freddie Gibbs

Yasiin Bey? Unless you mean "black Muslim" as in NoI/NGE specifically.

u/Any-Pineapple-521 Aug 15 '25

I’ve always seen him as more of a grey area than Q-Tip and more neutral on Kanye

Q-Tip is unusually welcoming to everyone for someone who has his beliefs and has pretty solid social views

Tbh, Q-Tip is kind of rare in the rap world for those things in general nowadays

First sentence is weird and wrong, Hebrew Israelite aren’t even Muslim.

u/Any-Pineapple-521 Aug 14 '25

Both groups have been known to have derogatory views towards Jewish people is the point

Nope, hold on, you're under a misunderstanding of the conversation-- when we say "black muslim" we don't mean muslims who are black, we're talking about the Nation of Islam, which is seperate and has serious problems with antisemitism.

u/qyo8fall Aug 15 '25

Isn’t Q-Tip a Muslim who is black, though? Not an NOI member? That would imply they were talking about Black Muslims as in Black Sunni Muslims.

u/FrigidMcThunderballs Aug 18 '25

Sorry i'm late, but you're right. I think the original comment mistook that tho, and thought Q-Tip was NOI.
