I don’t have a van and I would like to be acquainted with someone with a van cause here and now van is quite good for moving stuff or so. like the beer and pizza cukture in the US
1) if you ever need free labor/ friend when u have to move stuff or even house handiwork,
I’m free, I’m there
2) in return happy to get the use of your van if an occasion arrive.
just a simple transaction but instead of paying 10 euro an hour to a faceless company that I wont ever have human connection, I thought why not post here and make a more meaningful transaction. plus I just moved here recently, always happy to make connections
brokeass Helsinki uni student happy to make acquaintance whether ur a student or family person or whatever.
have a good day!

Peace and quiet, and therefore sleep.
Every time I visit Helsinki from the US, including while working (not just vacation), I get the best sleep of my life. In the US, unless you have enough money to not have neighbors and/or roommates, pretty much any city is a hellscape for insomniacs and light sleepers. Buildings are shitty, people are loud. I know this can happen anywhere, but in general it's just... Quieter. Even right next to the Sörnäinen metro station.

Hi, I’m in Helsinki on an Erasmus exchange program for the winter semester. I have chronic diseases and will run out of my medication in a month or so, and I need to continue my treatment here (I came from another EU country, so I do have the EHIC card). I am not sure how to get a doctor’s appointment quickly. I called the local health station, but they did not call me back, and then I tried using Omaolo, but it’s asking me to verify my identity with bank credentials, which I don’t have. I just have my personal identity code and a Finnish phone number. :/
Can anyone please advise me on what to do? Can I just visit the health centre? It’s quite urgent because I am experiencing pain and need to see a doctor, in addition to getting more medication when I run out.
Thank you!!

hello everyone! my partner and i are finally gonna live in the same country, which means they’re gonna leave helsinki soon, but it feels like they have a lot to do still, and being in a different country, i am not really of help.
they need to sell some clothes and furniture, and they planned to both use vinted and give some stuff to their friends and family.
but other than this, we were looking for some quicker way of selling things, since they are working two jobs to save up money and they take care of their dog.
vinted requires a lot of time as you have to take pictures, upload, ship…
if you guys had some pro tips on sites or places they can bring their stuff at so they don’t have to spend too much time handling this aspect of the leave, you would really help us a lot!

I left my DSLR camera at a club in Helsinki, Finland about a month ago.
When I contacted the club directly, they told me it had already been sent to the Lost & Found center.
I currently live in the Netherlands, so it's not easy for me to just go to Helsinki myself to check in person.
I asked a friend who lives locally to go in person and check, but the staff said it wasn't in their system yet, so they couldn't find it.
I've also tried calling the Lost & Found center multiple times and can never get through, and I submitted their online lost-item report form about a month ago as well, but I haven't heard anything back since.
At this point I'm starting to worry the camera is just sitting somewhere unlogged and I'll never get it back.
Has anyone here actually managed to recover an item through a Finnish Lost & Found center? How long did it take, and is there a better way to follow up than phone/email?
Any advice would be really appreciated.

Would somebody be interested to play volleyball, football or tennis, or are you looking for a gym buddy or someone to join you for a walk or practice martial arts with?
People are currently looking for company for all these activities through Biond, a new service created by my partner and me. We created the platform to make it easier to find people to join you for hobbies, events and other free-time activities. 😊I thought I would share it here in case anyone is in need of past time activities! The volleyball game for example is already on the weekend 😌
You can also use Biond to find company for all kinds of different activities!
You can find it at https://biond.app. The service is available in Finnish and English, is free to use and is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

So today I saw three girls dressed in all black walking in a straight line, one after the other sorta like a procession. One was wearing a hooded cloak behind the other two, and the other two in fromt were dressed normally, but the one leading the procession was tied to a cross (literally like a crucifix huge ass cross ✝️) and carrying it along as they walked slowly … and the weirdest part was the phrase “PURE BREED” written on the cross
What the hell could that be???

Hi everyone!
I’m visiting Helsinki next week and I was hoping to get some food or bar recommendations from locals :)
I’m looking for not very expensive places that are great for a quick lunch during sightseeing or nighttime dinner places where I could eat and grab a drink.
Any suggestions that are not tourist traps from tiktok would be heavily appreciated 🙋♀️

So, I just moved to Helsinki from Oulu as my girlfriend got a job here. I'm working remotely, but dang... The isolation is real.
Does anyone know where I could get to meet new people?
Or if anyone here is willing to show me around the city, feel free to send a message 🎈
(Btw, I'm from Mexico, not Oulu, or I guess both haha)
