HealthyHooha Update 2026

Upvotes

EDIT:
TLDR - Don't be a transphobe. Don't be a creep. Mods are being recruited. Add user flair. <3

Hello Healthy Hooha community! We hope everyone is thriving.

We wanted to check in with everyone and offer a few reminders and acknowledgements.

·       This is intended to be a safe, inclusive place for vaginal health. Trans individuals are welcome here. Bigotry, nastiness, and rule breaking will result in comment/post removal and a ban. We have additional resources in the sidebar regarding trans health.

·       There are creepers here. They may DM you inappropriately or leave comments with a fetishizing tone. Flag their comments and report them to us, and we will ban them, as this is against sub rules. HOWEVER, please keep in mind, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the community and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting.

·       To that end, we are making a concerted effort to increase monitoring of the subreddit. On the one hand, there’s only so much we can do to avoid inappropriate content/comments, short of making the subreddit private (more on that in a moment). On the other, we can improve our modding efficiency using the tools available to us – and have been making strides to do so.

·       We are recruiting more moderators to help with this. We acknowledge that the sub has been undermoderated lately.  Our vision with moderating going forward is to moderate in “real time”, meaning avoiding having to wait for troublesome comments to get flagged and instead remove them before it becomes necessary. If you are interested in modding, please see the application form. The existing mods are establishing vetting guidelines and will recruit accordingly.

·       We’ve occasionally noticed comments asking why this sub isn’t private. Our vision for this sub from the beginning was to make vaginal health visible and accessible – a place where we can share our struggles, commiserate, and feel less alone. Privatizing the sub, in our opinion, is counter to that goal. But we also understand that this makes creepers and fetishists more likely to invade a space that isn’t for them. With an increase in moderation and moderator tools, we hope to combat this and keep vaginal health visible and accessible to those who need it.

·       Consider doing searches for commonly posted topics. As a reminder, photos are technically allowed but in all honesty are rarely helpful, and no one here can give true medical advice.

We are also going to be testing a new feature - designated some posts as Flaired User Only posts. This will restrict comments to users who have added flair from this community. Mods will be using this at our discretion to limit comments to flaired community members only. We think this will be helpful in limiting off topic, fetishizing, or otherwise inappropriate comments.

We thank everyone for their patience, and for your involvement and support in making this a reliable safe community. Wishing everyone well!

-your healthyhooha mod team

HealthyHooha Community Check In

Upvotes

Hello to our beautiful community! We wanted to check in, provide updates, and answer some FAQs/give clarification.

  1. Banning users - We often get modmails reporting users that are requesting DMs and/or being creeps. We'd like to clarify that we can and do ban users that do this. It should be noted however, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the sub and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting. The only way to actually keep people from viewing the sub is by going private - something we've always been committed to not doing in order to keep it accessible for those who need it. If you notice someone soliciting DMs/photos in posts or comments, please continue to report and modmail. We highly recommend directly blocking anyone who actually sends you unwanted DMs.

  2. Crossposts ARE allowed, but they get caught by our AutoMod filters we have in place. We have to manually approve them. Same with any sort of link/photo even if they are not NSFW. We have this in place to avoid NSFW photos showing up in users' feeds.

  3. We will be recruiting more mods soon. We are in process of coming up with screening questions/application for approval. Higher education credentials strongly preferred. Stay tuned for the mod application.

Thanks for you patience with us and for making this a beautiful, supportive, inclusive community. Happy holiday season to all, however you celebrate.

Vulvar irritation/tingling and a painful bump 🫩 looking for advice

Upvotes

I’ve been having a weird tingling/burning sensation around my vulva/vaginal opening, and I’m also feeling a similar burning/irritated sensation around my anus.

It almost feels like the skin is irritated, similar to the feeling you get when you haven’t wiped completely.

I also have a bump that feels deeper inside and has been somewhat painful. The bump has gotten smaller, but it’s still there.

These symptoms started before I used boric acid.

I did use boric acid afterward, but I’m no longer using it because I’m worried it may be irritating the area further.
I’m wondering if this looks like irritation, a blocked gland/cyst, yeast/BV, or something else.

I’m planning to get checked if it doesn’t improve, but I’d appreciate any thoughts from people who have experienced something similar.

Photo is in the comments. Please be respectful.

Vaginal "Loosening" With Menopause

Upvotes

TLDR: What can I do about feeling "loose" after menopause?

I'm in my late 20s but had to have a hysterectomy for medical reasons. I kept my ovaries, but they stopped working (apparently a pretty rare but possible outcome after a partial hysterectomy) and am now postmenopausal. I am finally on HRT (progesterone, testosterone, estrodial) but my natural hormones were practically nonexistent by the time a doctor took me seriously.

Over the course of my menopause symptoms, one of the things I noticed was feeling looser during sex that gradually got worse over time. I know that menopause/low estrogen causes issues with elasticity and thins the vaginal walls, which causes this problem. What I don't know is what I can do about it. I started estrodial earlier this year, but starting it doesn't reverse the damage that has already been done. It impacts my sexual pleasure, as well as my partner's, and it heavily impacts my self-esteem and confidence in the bedroom. Has anyone experienced this and found something that helps?

I do kegals, as well as EMS (electral muscle stimulation) therapy for my pelvic floor, but that doesn't help the loss of vaginal wall tissue and decline in elasticity. I can clench down there but I got no natural grip :/

Do I need to worry about PID?

Upvotes

Trigger warning!
I am one anxious lady at the moment as I prepare for my frozen transfer this month. For context I lost a baby last year due to a severe uterine infection and I had sepsis, so infections now make me anxious which I’m sure is a natural response to trauma.

I was recently on vacation and did oral on my husband and then had unprotected sex, I did this 3 times over the holiday. This is something I would never do but it was holidays. I am so worried about the spread of bacteria going upward and somehow I think I have PID now with no symptoms. We have no STIs and as far as I can tell no BV etc. Last microbiome test in March was 100% good bacteria but things can obviously change.

Do you think I should get tested for PID or am I at much risk? I know it can appear silent and my doctor will likely dismiss me.

Question Kegelling & The Feeling of Sex After Not Having For a While

Upvotes

So, title hopefully explanatory but---

So, the feeling of tightness one can experience after not having sex for a while/being penetrated after a while (a while being like, a week for me).

I love that feeling. It's awesome. But I'm too down bad to go without.

Kegelling is said to make things *overall* tighter. Would that help with the same experience? And even *then*- would I have to kegel at the time to achieve that sensation?

Thank you!!

Allergic reaction

Upvotes

It’s been a hellish week and a half. Was using a new bar soap to wash backside and body that had a different fragrance (no I’m not doing that anymore), got terrible allergic reaction no rash just itching and redness. Was putting Vaseline near backside close to vag opening (also never doing again). Now days later I have no itching, last week my scent was different than usual, figured out the Vaseline was mixing with my sweat and causing an issue in my vagina. Now currently haven’t had any issues, this morning I realized an off smell (showered the morning before not night). Did not smell like my natural scent, I’m in college and trying to avoid the annoying health center process, I cleaned up and I think I’m okay now but should I be concerned? For reference I’m about to turn 19 so maybe my scent is just changing?

I don’t know a lot is going wrong with my body right now, period is in 6 days but I haven’t had this scene since I was in middle school and not washing correctly

Is this normal? 👀 Discharge Query

Upvotes

I’ve had greenish/yellowish discharge for around 1–2 weeks. It’s not a strong colour, but it’s more yellow/green than my usual discharge. The texture is sometimes quite jelly-like and occasionally comes out in a larger blob.
I’m on Evra patches and have been for around 4 months. My last sexual contact was about a month ago. I had an STI test 4 days afterwards which was negative, although I know that may have been too early and I’m currently waiting for another test.
There’s no obvious unpleasant smell, although occasionally it smells slightly acidic/vinegary. I don’t have significant itching or irritation.
I’ve had chlamydia in the past, but this doesn’t feel the same. I’m mainly wondering whether this sounds more like normal hormonal/cervical mucus or something worth getting checked.

Postpartum How do you know if episiotomy stitches are healing properly?

Upvotes

I'm 12 days postpartum and had to get an episiotomy. I've had some pretty severe pain since day 4 in the area of my stitches to the point where I can barely sit. Ive been looking at them at least once a day and the other day a small section of it looked as if the skin was retracting away from the stitches leaving a raw red area (not inflamed or infected, just like raw flesh?), when I went to my one week checkup I had the doctor take a look and she said they looked like they were healing fine. Today the raw area looks much larger and I can see threads poking out. Is this the stitches dissolving, my body rejecting them, or did I rip them? I'm finding very little advice on what healing for an episiotomy looks and feels like and I don't want to spend upwards of 18 hours in the ER just to be told it's normal.

Advice Needed Never ending yeast infection (3 months)

Upvotes

I’m going insane. After three rounds of antibiotics this spring, I’m not surprised that I was diagnosed with a yeast infection. The only issue is, I found out during a routine gyno appointment because it’s asymptomatic. At most, I’ve noticed less discharge than usual.

I took two doses of fluconazole and when it ran its course, I went in for a follow up. They confirmed that I STILL had a yeast infection but they couldn’t treat it normally because it was resistant. Bill: $310. To be told to go to CVS and try boric acid

Did the 7 day course of boric acid. Still didn’t feel back to normal. Had my period. Did 7 more days. Still don’t feel back to normal.

Now I’m paranoid about every little itch. I’ve been suffering since June. I really don’t want to go back to the doctor to confirm whether it’s gone or not. I can’t afford that.

Just took another dose of fluconazole last week and I feel the same.

I have Monistat but I’m nervous for some reason. What do I do?

ETA: just took a ph test and results were normal…am I free?

Sexual Health which do you prefer, vibration vs suction? is having both worth it?

Upvotes

i have been using vibrators for years and im thinking about trying something different like you know, just to switch things up bu i have a limited budget so im trying to do research before buying.  i have a couple of vibrators and sometimes i get bored using them and that made me curious about suction toys, like do they really feel different? in case you tried both of them, what made you prefer one over the other? also does having different types worth it?

Question Good bodywashes that won't irritate me?

Upvotes

Hi!

I've found that, recently, my bodywash and/or shampoo has been irritating me... down there, and, UTIs and such are just a huuuuge hassle I do not like dealing with. The pain is so annoying, it's almost unbearable sometimes.

I use Men's bodywash (as I am FtM), but, I'm perfectly fine with not smelling like... whatever manly scents are called. I'd love to smell like roses! (It's probably the scented stuff irritating me...)

If any of you use bodywash for sensitive skin/areas or non-irritants, what are the ones you would suggest to me the most?

Advice Needed need help with vaginal burning

Upvotes

okay so this started like 3-4 months ago. i had a rough sexual encounter in which i got hurt, i was bleeding after and the next day. ever since then i have intense burning sensation whenever i try to have sex. this really bothers me because normally i love sex but now i can’t enjoy it. it only burns during penetration and after the sex is over + i pee it burns more. i’m scared i have an std since i’ve never had one before, i’ve never had any type of infection.

i’m not very attracted sexually to my partner, i don’t get turned on like i used to, im usually dry and tense, and his ‘part’ is on the girthier side (tmi sorry) im guessing this could also be a potential cause?

every std i google says symptoms are usually dormant but when they do show up it’s burning during sex or urination + discharge + pelvic/abdominal pain. this is NOOO help and im freaking out. hell, i could have all of them. the only symptom i have is pain during and after penetration

i guess what im asking is has anyone else experienced this and should i get tested for stds? or could it be anything else?

I have a lump on my vaginal canal entrance

Upvotes

No flair, cause honestly I just need to touch grass or a hug. And yes, I will go to the doctor about it.

I don't think it's STD, cause it's didn't appear as an effect of sex with anyone new and my partner hasn't had other lovers either. I also don't have any other symptoms, so even if it was something with a dormant period it would have other specific symptoms, which I don't have.

At first I thought it's a tear after a bit too rough sex, but its apparently not.

It's a soft, round, pea sized lump right by the entrance and some more of that tissue going inside. Slightly painful to the touch.

Now like I said, I'll go to a doctor about it anyway, but if any of you has knowledge on it or experience I just want to know what to possibly expect, not panic if it's just a cyst or be unexpectedly hit with cancer diagnosis.

Treatments 💊 vaginal itchiness, no abnormal discharge..HELP!

Upvotes

i’ve been experiencing vaginal itchiness for the past 2 days or so. it only really happens after i pee and it develops more and more throughout the day. i have no discharge that is abnormal..so i dont think its a yeast infection but im not 100% sure. i do not have the means to go to the doctor right now.

i’ve only ever had a yeast infection once (and had the discharge..which is why im not sure) and i used monistat. would it be beneficial to try monistat again just in case that its a developing yeast infection? is there something else i can do? do i have a uti? is there a way to treat that instead over the counter? my period is coming in a few days..could it just be related to that — although it’s never been there before? is there anything else it could be.

i truly just need help to ease the itchiness that develops during the day. or a general enough OTC treatment for whatever is going on.

Happy V supplement or any other suggestions.

Upvotes

So wondering if anyone has used happy v or has had success with any other supplements.

So basically back in January I got the worst UTI of my life and the symptoms never went away. For months I’ve been having UTI like symptoms but no UTI. In July I find out I have BV and a yeast infection from urgent care. The medicine isn’t helping so I went to the gyno. I found out I had ureaplasma, GBS, BV and a yeast infection. I was feeling great and then I had sex and immediately got a yeast infection again. I just started taking happy v literally tonight but wondering if anyone knows of anything else that can help. Maybe i’m just like super sensitive. I saw a lot of posts of people saying they tested positive again for ureaplasma multiple times and needed multiple rounds of antibiotics before it goes away so I think i need to go back to gyno for that. Thank you!!!

Sexual Health How to set sexual boundaries/prevent genital inspection

Upvotes

Hello,

So I made a post a couple days ago and really appreciate the advice I got. What I realized my fear really is is not the structure but my fear of its interpretation.

How do I prove to a guy that I don't do things like clitoral stimulation? I don't want a man to try searching for that part. I have removed glans but the structure around it couldn't go away no matter cutting amount. I'm worried that I will be treated like I am a girl with a clit just because I have excess skin

Sexual Health I’ve never experienced a clitoral erection?

Upvotes

I’m 25(F) and have a high sex drive, whenever I masturbate though it can take upwards of 1-2 hours to orgasm. I never minded and assumed it needed to build up, but just recently I tried a clit pump cuz I heard it makes things extra sensitive and enjoyable, and my clit was actually full and hard to the touch.. It scared me when I reached down and felt it cuz I’ve never experienced that before, I’ve always been fairly soft. Is that how hard it’s supposed to be?? Have I been living with clitoral erectile dysfunction all along

Symptoms 👩🏻‍⚕️ Bouts of very excessive watery cloudy discharge

Upvotes

For the past few weeks I have had bouts of excessive, watery discharge. I first started noticing it because it would mainly come out when I was peeing, and make the toilet water super cloudy. Now it also comes out sometimes if I activate those “push” muscles in any way (sneezing, etc).

But it’s a like a lot. I’m talking, if it happens when I’m naked it splatters on the floor and drips all the way down both legs. It doesn’t smell. I’m 26 and have never been pregnant, not on birth control, and don’t have sex with men.

Keep in mind I’m a stealth transgender man in a conservative area and I’m absolutely terrified of going to the gynecologist. They will definitely not understand why I’m there and likely not believe me (or possibly discriminate) when I tell them I was born female. I do NOT live in a trans friendly area. I’ve never had a PAP smear and it’s safe to say I’m never going to the gynecologist unless there’s big warning signs that I have a major issue that can only be fixed with medical intervention, like cancer. Any ideas of why this might be happening and what I should do? Will it just go away on its own?

Pregnancy and LEEP

Upvotes

Anyone here who’s had a LEEP and is planning on pregnancy but is scared to start trying? Thinking that if the next PAP test shows abnormal and a LEEP is needed while pregnant, you won’t be able to get it done until after you give birth?

Advice Needed Recurring BV 10+ years

Upvotes

I’m actually loosing my mind. I have struggled with yeast infections and BV for well over 10 years. I’ve gone to many doctors in Denmark and doctors in Spain, and no one can help me with a permanent solution. I simply get the antibiotics depending on what issue is present (sometimes both at the same time) and the infections aaaalways come back next cycle or next time I have intercourse, so I can sometimes have bv and yeats twice a cycle.
Recently a gynecologist finally took me a bit more serious and did more tests and put me on a 6 month long treatment for yeast infections. It seems to have worked, I’ve only have it 1 or 2 times during those 6 months. But I still struggle with BV. And i can smell myself all the time, it’s making me so stressed and upset and sad.

I only have my boyfriend that I’m sexually active with, and it often gets triggered after sex. He cleans his hands and private part thoroughly before sex, he even started to brush his teeth because washing hands and penis didn’t help. I clean up right after the act is done to and I do not vaginal douche. I wear cotton underwear, I take probiotics, I don’t have an IUD anymore, I don’t take birth control. It’s making me want to cry and rip my hair out to be quite frankly. It’s ruining my sexlife with my boyfriend because of how much it affects my mental health. Only place I haven’t tried seeking help is amongst other women, and not doctors and Google. So I’m hoping someone reads this and has had the same experience and has found the magic cure 😭😭😭 I’m on my knees, help🥹

Sexual Health Bleeding after.. self care.

Upvotes

Hey. So ive recently run into an issue and Google isnt helping.

Every time I self pleasure, I end up bleeding. The blood is bright red and never lasts too long, but its not accompanied by any discomfort or anything.

I would assume its just hymen breakage or something but this is never an issue with intercourse?? Im confused as to what the difference is. The toy i use is longer and thinner than my boyfriend so maybe it has to do with that?

Someone help T-T

Question Damaged Vulvar Skin Barrier

Upvotes

Has anyone had a damaged vulvar skin barrier? I’ve had symptoms for over 2+ years and I’ve been checked for everything. Only relief I’ve had is tacrolimus ointment somewhat and one random time I took prednisone, although it hasn’t worked since then. I’ve had 2 biopsies that have come back as “mild chronic vulvitis”. The second most recent one showed fibrosis, but other than that little to no change. I feel that every treatment I try makes it worse….could it be possible that the skin barrier is just totally out of whack?

Symptoms:

Started a month after coming off the Zafemy birth control patch. I was on it for about 5 months. I then was told I had a UTI and took Macrobid. My symptoms started midway through the antibiotic course. I was also extremely stressed out at the time and dealing with another illness.

Symmetric redness of the vulva (from the clitoral hood down to the end of the vaginal opening)

Fluctuation with my hormonal cycles. My symptoms improve immensely on my period and worsen with ovulation. Although, I don’t think this is a hormonal issue I more believe that the acidic discharge is irritating my sensitive tissue.

Burning, stinging, itching. A general feeling of hypersensitivity.

Irritation with hair growth. I was fully shaved before this but have now grown the hair out to see if shaving was keeping the loop active.

Odd discharge that isn’t infectious but can be bright yellow and thick/sticky. It seems to stick to the vestibule and vulva causing more irritation.

A damp feeling like as if the skin might be weeping? However, the top layer of my skin appears normal and derm has said no skin issue…

I’d appreciate anyone’s help with this! I’m literally at my wits end, I just want to figure out what is going on so I can help heal my body!
