Sooooo the commercial sales department in Richardson is already going downhill!! Who could have ever foreseen this?!
Just kidding, I totally called it. They over hired WAY too many reps on the floor and the call volume is not matching the amount of people. They’re starting to fire people for “performance”, but really they’re letting people go left and right because commercial sales is an absolute shit show !
The process SUCKS, the script SUCKSS, the grading metrics SUCKKKKKKK. This is just a God awful department. I think it’s really unfair that the people who feel this will be the struggling agents who left their previous jobs for THIS role, it’ll never be the sups or managers. The people who OVER HIRED everyone in the first place!
Let’s also not forget that the supervisors are incompetent, and they’re basically training everyone to lie, cheat, and gaslight these customers. They’re want us to SCARE them into buying instead of letting them choose for themselves… all for the sake of THEIR metrics. Well, people are growing wiser to the bullshit and we are getting more and more calls in complaining about the selling tactics. It’s almost as if fully grown adults don’t LIKE being manipulated by greedy agents?! Who would’ve THOUGHT !

Don’t worry the senior directors and directors have a plan to make things better soon 😂

Would you imagine that? The company lays off many experienced insurance professionals around the country, moves operations to a new location, hires people with zero experience in the industry, trains them to write business they've never offered before, and is surprised when they realize they aren't meeting their own lofty performance metrics? Speaking as one of those who was laid off I think the failure is fitting.

You are speaking to the choir. It’s not just your dept. It’s all of them.

Everything sounds about normal for Geico except…they hired too many people?? That’s what I’m shocked about.

Wow I thought this was going to be The shining Star if they never asked any of us if we wanted to go into commercial it was like a secret the other regions didn't know about.

They didn’t want people with actual insurance experience leading this department, that’s what I’m seeing. They wanted moldable call center reps who were smart enough to get a license. Now they just eat up whatever greedy sales tactics are passed down to them from “supervisors” (spent two months selling and couldn’t even hit the metrics themselves that we are being held to). It’s the blind leading the blind. And it’s all by design.. cuz if you should so happen to hire someone with actual insurance experience (me) then youll have someone who is going to call out the predatory behavior instead of conforming to it.

I totally believe you. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. And you're right I guarantee it was done by design.

You’re absolutely correct about the lack of ethics. The amount of twisting the sales department does to get their metrics is amazing. It’s of course not the agent‘s fault but it is Geico‘s fault.

Absolutely. It’s borderline disgusting the thing I’m expected to do and say just to sell.

Don’t worry, you will be able to laugh soon enough at the fallout of this latest GEICO brainstorm.

But that office only fired people who was at the bottom YTD , and the gating system is trash if your in gate 2 but the agents that are in gate one is always getting calls back to back so I think it’s more of the gating needs a update
