Instagram keeps taking down account created for fundraising

Upvotes

Hi,

I need advice, the gazawi woman I'm in contact with made an Instagram account to raise funds for her 5 y.o. orphaned niece, but it keeps getting taken down. I suspect it's because of IG age policy, because she would write things like "I am a child in Gaza" and basically impersonate her niece. She asked me for advice so the Instagram is not taken down. I imagine It would be better if she promoted the niece's campaign on her own account (she also has a fundraiser for herself) but I am really scared she risks her account taken down. Any ideas? Does the account have more chances to stay up if I create it from Europe?

I handed off the campaign of a family in Gaza to someone else and he doesn’t know how to deal with some impossible costs

Upvotes

A lot of context is needed so let me explain. I had been helping Mohammed and his family in Gaza by posting his Chuffed account to this Substack chat where multiple people could donate. It’s been a good strategy and Mohammed has been able to meet large goals like three surgeries because of it. However I’m a recent college graduate still living off my family at the moment and they don’t want me to have anything to do with Gaza and especially donations after I personally gave a lot to this family in 2024. They found out I was still in contact and immediately had me delete my WhatsApp contact for Mohammed. I made sure to give Mohammed’s number to someone else in the substack chat and he’s been posting for Mohammed since I can’t.

Recently Mohammed was able to evacuate Gaza because of his sister being on the waitlist for cancer treatment in Egypt. He could not take his wife and three children, who are all under 10 and they face heavy shelling in Gaza. The person I gave the campaign too has been extremely helpful but he’s getting stressed with how urgent Mohammed’s needs are getting, especially because Mohammed asked him to get 70,000 dollars to evacuate his family from Gaza after they had to leave thier tent because of bombing. He talked to me about this too when I was messaging with him and frankly, I think it’s impossible as horrible as it is. I want to try and focus on just the goals the Substack chat can meaningfully help with but it’s terrible to tell this man we can’t get his wife and family out. Mohammed also wants to get 450 so his wife and child can go back to where they were to retrieve their tent, which is much more feasible but he needs it very soon. All this is stressing my friend out and I wish I had better advice. Is there something I could be doing better? I think he should hand Mohammed’s campaign off to someone else in the chat for at least a week but that might be tricky to coordinate.

Using cryptocurrency to send donation funds

Upvotes

Hello, I run campaigns on Chuffed for a few families in Gaza.

Currently, I transfer any funds using Paypal. One of the families that I support, however, has recently asked if I can send the funds to their binance wallet.

I know very little about using cryptocurrency. All of my reading into it so far has left me confused and honestly very wary. I am so worried about making a mistake and losing the funds. I live in a state that has strict controls on crypto, so I am unsure how to navigate this as well. I also don't know if I am correctly understanding the capital gains tax implications as well.

I need someone to explain it to me like I'm five 🄲.

Hello! I need help on how to send cryptocurrency to a family in Gaza!

Upvotes

Hi everyone! Would someone kindly give me a step-by-step process on how to send cryptocurrency to a family I’ve known for half a year in Gaza. Like what app to download and how to use it since ive never used crypto. I’m from the US and I heard from some people that legal action can occur but I also heard that if I do it wrong then the money is lost. I want to make sure I do this right. Any help is appreciated.

She does have a chuffed account but I want to be able to send money immediately and directly to her.

Fundraiser Verification

Upvotes

Hello, I understand that posts like these have been circulating often on how individuals can ensure they aren't being scammed when donating to Gaza Relief Campaigns. From what I have seen, I have been told to donate to organizations rather than individual fundraisers, which I get

But there seems to be a common theme with a lot of these fundraisers being (what seems to be) intentionally vague, and I know I have seen reports about Isr*eli bots and fake accounts being used to siphon funds away from those who actually need it

I ask if there are any ways we can tell if a campaign is legitimate? I am seeing campaigns that say "since before the war" when referring to relatively young individuals, which is something I have seen Zionists use as a talking point (considering that the war is not a recent development) alongside the other vague talking points. I understand not everyone's private lives need to be posted online, but verifying whether or not the money is going towards the occupier or those who need it is very important.

Some of the links I am seeing are also asking or implying a specific amount to be donated, which sets off alarm bells in my head.

From other reports I have read, I have seen that the Red Cross is complicit in cooperating with the occupation forces, does this include the Red Crescent as well? I know that there are numerous reports of the IOF intentionally striking aid targets, but I just want to know what foundations are safe to donate to, where the funds will truly reach someone in need.

Furthermore, if anyone has any signs they look out for in regards to verifying that an individual campaign is legitimate, that would be great.

Tldr; I want to help, but I am afraid of my money going towards those who harm Palestinians and others affected by illegal occupation and war crimes. Are there campaign websites that are guaranteed safe to donate through? Or should you only look towards official organizations, and which ones?

Thank you!

Edit: Clarity, paragraph ordering
