Is this a green frog or an American bull frog? Found in Midwest area. I’m leaning towards northern green frog but I keep going back and forth.

This itty bitty guy hangs out with my orchids. This is his favorite spot: In the smallest pot, with the smallest orchid sprout. It is filled with sphagnum moss that I keep evenly damp.

(He's less than 1 inch -- maybe 2 cm. I'm guessing he's a Spring Peeper, but I'm not sure.)

Gouache . I’m creating a theme of crazy animals in a collection of works. Not sure if people resonate with my work, but I really enjoy painting straight out of my consciousness. I love frogs and toads.

Wild I have some wildlife living in my basement egress and I love them

Upvotes

I have some wildlife living in my basement egress and I love them. It started about two years ago when I noticed a huge toad out my egress window. I’ve always loved toads and frogs and snakes and all that so I was excited along with my kids. We named him Mr. Toad. I started to get a bit worried he wouldn’t be able to find enough food and sometimes caught some crickets from the yard and tossed them down. However we realized he would take advantage of the light in the window to catch moths and other bugs attracted to our lamp. And so for the next two years my kids, my husband and I would greet Mr. Toad every time we saw him and he became part of the family. We witnessed him going into hibernation and would be ecstatic when he started appearing again in the spring. This summer we noticed a large frog in the egress! I believe it’s a northern green frog? And then another one! A little smaller. So now we have Mr. Toad, Mrs. Frog and Mr. Frog. I’ve even seen a huge marbled salamander a few times. It’s become its own little ecosystem. However I sometimes question if it’s ok to keep them there… I don’t want them to starve and there is no standing water. I’ve been wanting to get a little pond for them too. Any suggestions?

Question Advice needed! A frog has adopted my front porch, and my dog keeps trying to chase it.

Long story short, I live right next to a protective natural corridor. We see a lot of wildlife in my neighborhood, and I love that. However, lately this frog (possibly a toad?) has been showing up on my front porch every evening when I take my dog out to use the restroom. This is an issue because my dog is only a year old, and loves to chase and play with wildlife! She is always on a leash, but she has almost pulled me over before trying to catch this frog! (She’s around 50lbs.) I guess I’m just wondering, does anyone have any recommendations or advice? I don’t want to relocate it (I’m assuming he lives in the protective strip of land behind my house)- but he can’t keep showing up on my porch! It’s a risk to himself, my dog, and me. I love this little frog, whom I’ve affectionately nicknamed Fred. I just want to do what’s best for him and my dog!
(Also worried that he may be poisonous? I admittedly know nothing about frogs, so I have no clue if he is or not, but I know some frogs can be fatal to dogs. I love the little guy either way- just want to do what’s best for him and my dog!)

Not sure the species, but a lovely toadlet. I coax it off the path so there's less chance of being run over or stepped on.
