Travel solo traveller fiji
Hi all! I have booked a trip to Fiji over New Years but long story short I have had some very frustrating issues come up and two passengers have cancelled on me. Basically I am out of pocket almost $3k and while I have considered just cancelling the booking I am also thinking I may just go by myself?
The booking is for the Pearl Resort so wondering what sort of activities or things to do around there or at the resort and if it is safe for a young female to go alone? And also if there is any celebration happening for New Years?

Ia it the pearl on the coral coast? At Pacific Harbor? Its a nice place. But the ocean is often windy and wavy. If you do some surf, kit surf it can be good. Don't know about celebrations but there is some stuff to do around and you can also do a day trip to Suva, the capital.

There's white water rafting with Rivers Fiji (Did this years ago, it's certainly worth it).
River tubing in Navua is cheap and cheerful. Small town atmosphere, family run business.
If the weather is fair, you can get a short boat over to Beqa for some great snorkeling for the day.
It's been pretty wavy/windy lately, but even this past weekend was perfect, we hit up the beach right near the Pearl.
The resort right up the beach from the Pearl, The Uprising, always puts on a big NYE party. I went a few years ago. I think the entry fee was like $20FJD or something, It's not expensive.

The pearl is really nice. Uprising is nearby and has a more protected beach and a more laid back vibe. Highly recommend River rafting, zip lining, dive/snorkel trips to beqa.

I just returned from Fiji, solo female. I felt very safe.
I’m not familiar with the Pearl resort.

I just got back from Fiji for the 4th time. Stayed for a week at Pearl, nice hotel. Very safe, I would check out scuba diving. Plan some day trips. Head to Suva for a day. Please message me if you have any questions at all.

It’s safe! Better to stay in nadi and head to denerau for NYE. Else, Suva is an option whereby there is a NYs party at Albert park which is right next to GPH

the booking is already for pearl resort though! is it safe coming back from suva to pacific harbour around 1-2am and how would i do so ??

I suggest staying that night in Suva. It will be difficult to find transportation that time and if you do, i wouldn’t recommend going that far especially if you’re drinking.

I just stayed at the Pearl Resort, and I did not like the location. It's on the wet side of Fiji, so it was cold, windy and constantly raining. I had to wear a sweatshirt. If you're looking to lounge on the beach, I suggest staying on the dry side.

what time of year did you go? and are there activities around or does pearl resort offer anything?

Early September - I just left a few days ago.
They had 2 chalkboards. One had a bunch of paid excursions (snorkeling, tubing) that was the same everyday and the other had free hotel activities (basket weaving, cava ceremony, etc). The paid excursions can get canceled due to rain, but they don't update the board.
Nearby are two scuba diving shops, so if you like scuba diving, this may be a great resort. We also did https://rivertubingfiji.com/, which was pretty close.
Again, the main issue is the location. This is on me, but I didnt realize there was a dry side and a wet side in Fiji. The Pearl resort is on the wet side. I didn't get sunny beaches - I got a small, cold, wet beach. The waters looked rough too. It rained nonstop for 3 days. I'm in the dry side of Fiji right now, and it feels like a different country.

oh ok thank you so much for your reply!! do you think it will be better weather in december ? is the activities with tropic magic? because when i looked online the minimum is 4 people and it’ll just be me 😅. besides the weather and the location how were the staff ?

It will not be better in December.
The person you're responding to got a spot of bad luck, because apart from there being a wet side and a dry side of the island, there's also a dry season and a wet season. In the dry season, even the wet side gets much less rain than usual. It's the dry season now (almost drought conditions in some parts), but the past two weeks there's been unusual rain.
Fiji's wet (and tropical cyclone) season runs from November to April. It's a but fuzzy these days because of climate change, but generally you can expect above average rainfall all over the country during that period.
If you can, change to a resort on the dry side: Mamanuca Islands, Yasawa Islands, Rakiraki, or even Denarau.

Ive heard amazing things about Pearl resort. Hope you go and have a lot of fun. I havent been to Suva area, mostly been in and around Nadi. I like it but hope to get to Suva.
Some notes on around Nadi area if you change your plans: If you travel to meet local folks, I would avoid Denerau, as it's mega foreign touristy and I find it overwhelming. People are cool everywhere I've been though, so I dont think you could go wrong. Good luck!

I prefer you stay at Ramada or a wyndam garden in Nadi as pearl dont have much activity and is far from big towns and if you keen can mail me as i can recommend cheap places and activities to suit your holiday a very enjoyable one🫡🙏

You can always go by yourself. Book tours to stay busy. Do you have to stay at the pearl resort? Can you change to a hotel that has other solo travelers and/or backpackers? It would be less noticeable that you are there alone.
