I was on hold 3.5 hrs yesterday and 2.5 hrs today 😭

I email the executives at fiu and leave them voicemails until they do their job. Their email addresses and phone numbers are public record.

Just show up irl lol

u/noisycat 5d ago

Seriously at this point I could take the train there in that time

u/VoTBaC 5d ago

Train? How?

u/noisycat 5d ago

I live in a different part of Florida lol. I’m an online student.

It's not the school. Every college is going through this. You can blame the Big Beautiful Bill. Vote blue to get the red out.

u/CommunistsAreCancer 5d ago

What the fuck does a congressional bill have to do with a state university’s financial department’s customer service line putting him on hold for hours?

u/markanthmore 4d ago

Due to the amount of students now having to call due to the fallout of the bill? Are you dense?

Edit: Just saw your post history. You are dense.

u/RuuRuuRu 4d ago

The bill caused a bunch of funding issues for schools so disbursements were made late due to last minute adjustments to fasfa grants and such. It’s been a disaster everywhere.

u/xRoshy 4d ago

Why do you have to insult your own intelligence to try to prove a point lol ? The line is on hold for hours because of the volume of calls due to the delays and frustrations caused by the bill. What do you think could be causing it ?

u/TheHolyManHimself 4d ago

The big beautiful bill rewrote some important policies on fasfa eligibility and rollout, which is overwhelming universities and causing a gridlock in customer service calls because everyone is having issues with their aid

Ngl this is literally why I left FIU. They suck.

u/StrengthNo7026 5d ago

Where’d you go

u/lovelymorgana 5d ago

Do you mean after I left? Shit dude I just went back to CC because it was just so much easier to take care of finances and issues than FIU and I just don’t care anymore what is on my degree lol.

u/VoTBaC 5d ago

CC?

u/lovelymorgana 4d ago

Community college lol

Tbh that’s why whenever I have to speak to them, I always show up in person no later than 10:30-11am cuz after that, it’s a total shit show at the beginning of the semester. You’re lucky if you even get ahold of someone over the phone lmao.

Just do the live chat

u/Mo_Tingzz 5d ago

let me try

u/Mo_Tingzz 5d ago

doesn’t work. chat icon doesn’t even bring anything up

Funny how I graduated over a decade ago and these MFs still call me but when one of you guys has a question you have to wait forever

u/iEnVyTH10 5d ago

Was on hold for 2 hours and nothing. I tried putting in a live chat but it openly said there were no agents. Like i’m just trying to figure out my financial aid status.

FAFSA website shows i’m processed and everything right code too. But FIU financial aid tab shows no information found.

I even got a message sent to my phone that payment is due today and if I don’t pay then I’ll be hit with a late fee and eventually cancellation.

As a transfer student this is just disappointing.

u/Full_Ad_6371 1d ago

I am also a transfer student and I am beyond disappointed I had so expectations for fiu they really made it seem like it’s such a good school but honestly my experience has been nothing but hell

u/Potential-Salary8385 5d ago

Ā does anybody know if having the Student Drop Protection hold on my account will affect my refund from being processed?

u/Known_Lingonberry448 5d ago

guys i promise you, if you have a problem go in person!! nothing is worth the effort online unfortunately.

u/Monkey-Money-Inc 5d ago

Use the new iPhone ā€œholdā€ feature on the bottom left (only for ios 26 and up tho)

u/VoTBaC 5d ago

What does that do?

u/BrightRaven210 4d ago

Allows you to keep them on hold through Apple servers and disconnect the call. It will then call you back when they come back to the line.

u/Dizzy_Thing_3758 4d ago

So should I go in person or call. Omg.

u/Awkward-Interview-98 FIU Student 4d ago

I spoke with someone from financial aid and she was like we received your fafsa on August 28 so allow 7 to 10 business days for it to process. The problem there is the’ve had my financial aid application for months. I received an aggregate limit email on August 18th and I haven’t made any changes to my fafsa. Not sure what’s going on.
