She’s so adorable! I’m new to the cat world lol. We got Noelle in March and Pumpkin this month! So far big sister is not a fan. She hisses at her. For now we keep them separate .

How long did it take your cats to like each other?

She had ringworm on her body, is on her last week of itrafungol, I wanted to let he out of quarantine but now I’m not so sure?

It’s been 1 week since we got our chocolate esh kitten, Puddin’ Rue! I have previously had persians and himalayan… so this kitten energy is really something else! She really never slows down😅

He thinks I’ll hand-feed him if he looks at me like this. He’s right.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Exotic Shorthairs. Their chubby faces and lazy personalities are just way too cute ☺️

I made this little guy for his family as a keepsake, and he’s about 7 inches tall. I really loved working on all the little details!

This is Daikon, my 4-month-old Exotic Shorthair. I recently brought him home and I'm trying to decide which pet insurance would be best for him.

His breeder told me that their vet noted he has a wry mouth / misalignment of his teeth, but said it is purely cosmetic and doesn't currently affect his health or eating. His paperwork also mentions conjunctivitis, although the breeder didn't mention that to me directly. I have my own vet appointment scheduled for September 9 to have him fully checked.

I'm especially wondering about insurance because Exotic Shorthairs can have breed-related health and dental issues. I'm currently looking at companies like Trupanion and Embrace, but I'm open to others.

For those of you with Exotics:

- Which pet insurance do you use, and have you been happy with it?

- Have they been good about covering hereditary/congenital conditions?

- How is the dental coverage? (I'm worried they wont cover since he has wry mouth)

- Has anyone had experience with a mild wry mouth that was initially considered cosmetic but later required treatment?

- How does your insurer handle something already noted in the kitten's records but not currently requiring treatment?

I'm assuming the wry mouth and possibly conjunctivitis could be considered pre-existing, so I'm not trying to hide either of those. I mainly want good coverage (preferably affordable) for anything new that might happen as he grows up.

Dear my fellow Exotic Shorthair cat friends,

I would like to share my story about getting my nose surgery done a month ago. As you all know, we have flat faces. While our cuteness makes everyone overlook our conditions, this facial structure comes with all sorts of problems.

My breathing issues started right after I turned one and a half years old. Whenever I tried to breathe after a zoomie, my mum said I made snorting sounds. This was not normal, and my breathing had never been like that before. Mum took me to the vet, and we decided to get a "nose job" to widen my nostrils. We booked the surgery for the following week.

Usually, cats like us need surgery to shorten our soft palate because we suffer from Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS). Luckily, my soft palate was normal and did not need to be shortened. I only had the stenotic nares surgery done, which you can see in my before and after photos.

The surgery was very straightforward. I went in the morning and came home late that afternoon with painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication for a week. Ever since the day after my surgery, I haven't made any snoring sounds. I also stopped making that soft whistling noise my mum used to hear whenever she held me close to her ear.

My mum was scared to put me through surgery because all procedures come with risks. However, she knew the benefits would far outweigh the dangers because she wanted me to breathe comfortably and avoid worse problems down the track.

One thing my mum was curious about, though: do any of you obsess over playing with water after undergoing general anaesthesia? Because I do! I don’t know why, but every time I have general anaesthesia, I suddenly love playing with water and splashing it all over the floor from my water bowl. That obsession goes away straight after the drug leaves my body. Please share if you have this obsession too, as I would love to hear from you!

So, to my fellow Exotic Shorthair friends out there who are thinking of having a nose job: if you have any questions, just ask! If my mum knows the answers, she will happily tell you.

Hello, New here! Just picked up my new baby girl. She is 12 weeks old. Need help with names 😊
