Question/Help Are these good traits for a ruler?

Post image

I was wondering if I can appoint this character as a ruler. Confused because of the heartless trait

As you already pointed our heartless is your only real downside here and a reason to perhaps reconsider, since it prevents happiness. It does however also make everyone skilled with frost. I personally prefer volatile for a ruler since not only is everyone skilled with shock, it doesn’t have a big downside like heartless does. Headstrong and mighty are useful for increasing productivity in the related workstations, so could be useful depending on how efficient your workstations are at moment. Finally leader is always a nice trait for a ruler, since rulings can inspire workers to finish their current cycle and that can happen at multiple stations at once.
All together I think you have a good candidate, but just keep in mind keeping people content enough might be tougher.
I recommend this thread for a breakdown of ruler traits, their rating and influence on your castle:

I would personally recommend not using a ruler with the heartless trait. Charming is also one I don’t like as it reduces productivity.

But won't leader balance it out?

Possibly but I’m not sure my self. I thought leader just gives you a chance to increase productivity through certain rulings, whereas charming is a constant reduction on production.

Can confirm that leader just gives the chance to instantly speed up some stations as results of rulings. I think charming would just reduce overall productivity. Personally I wouldn’t want to make that trade off unless there were no other good candidates when it’s time to select a new ruler, especially with heartless. Having someone with more traits isn’t automatically better than fewer, it depends on the quality/combination of traits.

i would recommend to use a ruler with NO BAD TRAITS AT ALL. doesn’t matter whether they’re green, blue, purple or gold class.

No. Stick him at the war table and give him melee weapons.

The most important thing with a ruler is avoiding bad traits. Good traits are just a bonus.
