The leash I have here is about 4 ft long, I have it even though my dogs are large because when I go places where they are required to be on a leash and I want to take a picture of them, I'll swap out their normal leash for this one long enough to take the pictures since this one looks a lot better, only downside is it's 4 ft long so I can't get very far from them to get really good pictures plus I've had it for like 3 years and it's starting to fray.

I've already looked at Walmart but the ones they have are not long enough and they feel weird, I don't know how to describe how this one feels but it's like a soft nylon and it's really flexible, it feels really good quality both the cook and the leash itself, I can't remember the brand of this one but I know they used a lot of green in their logo.

I know this is a weird question to ask, so thank you to anyone that actually helps❤️

Not sure if anyone remembers, but I posted just under two weeks ago, about my dog Axl being rushed to the emergency vets for having a focal seizure being told he has neuro issues and we were to spoil him and that nothing can be done, he maybe had a few weeks to go. I wasn’t set on this diagnosis, it felt off, and the vet who told us really focused on not doing further investigation because he’s 12 and a half, his sister passed from a stroke in July, and we should just cherish what time we have left with him. I scheduled an appointment with his regular vet anyway to follow up, if he had a little time left, I wanted to know how to keep him comfortable. That appointment was today, and while his regular vet agrees that he has some neuro issues (which we knew already, he’s been having sporadic seizures since he was 4/5, luckily very rarely so we’re able to keep him unmedicated) she believes it’s a possible narrowing at the end of spine, we had some tests ran, as well as a full check up. The only thing we didn’t do was an MRI which he’d have to be referred to a different vet for, but as far as she can tell? Axl is okay. His issues are contained to his back legs (hence her opinion of the spine) which he already has knee dysplasia and arthritis. However they’re very well managed, he can still run, play, jump and do everything he normally does. His quality of life is still great, and he’s very healthy for a dog of his age and size. His weight is perfect, his teeth are good, his heart, lungs and blood work are all good. She doesn’t believe he has ‘only a few weeks left’, and is happy to continue to monitor his symptoms. The only thing she was able to say really, is that he will probably need to be started on gabapentin further down the line, but as far as she can tell, he’s still full of life and is a happy, handsome boy. Now while an MRI will give us an exact picture of what’s going on, the felt it wasn’t a needed procedure, especially since he would have to be sedated. I agree, if he doesn’t need to go through it, I would rather not put him through it. I trust his vet.

All of this to say, Axl’s going to be okay, but also, if something doesn’t feel right, please don’t be afraid to question your vet or ask for a second opinion. Sometimes vets make mistakes too. I don’t think the emergency vet was intentionally catastrophizing Axl’s condition, I believe she was working with what information she could see, without taking into account he was post ictal and anxious. He’s a dog that freezes when scared. When she was doing a check over, he was slow to react and I believe she based her information on this. While he was still slower than normal to react when the vet ran the same tests today, he reacted a lot quicker than he was post ictal, which, obviously. We’ve been through emotional turmoil thinking we were sharing his last days with him, while he acted completely normal. So always be willing to fight for your pups if something feels off!

Just so proud of our little reactive rescue dog and want to share! We got Finnegan at PAWS Atlanta about 4 years ago and he was in rough shape (the shelter was great with him). We went to look at a larger dog and he found us instead.

In the last four years, he’s grown his hair back, gained weight (a lot of snacking and pup cups), gone on countless adventures- we were visiting Pittsburgh in the photo on the right, and slept soundly in bed every night. He’s loved by our families and he’s taught us so much about patience, love, how reactive dogs still deserve to experience the world, and the power of a good walk. He’s my best friend.

Here’s a picture of my sweet baby! She’s a husky/german shepherd mix and she fits our high energy lifestyle very well! We hike and run pretty much everyday! I also have a flirt pole and a tug toy for her. She also chews on bully sticks, pupsicles, and eats her food out of high level puzzles and out of the grass.

Is there anything else you do with your high level dog that they really, really love? I’m just trying to keep things fresh for her and give her new ideas! I’m also looking into getting a lure course set up in our back yard or an agility course for her.

Just caught myself doing this, laughed, and thought I'd see what other people do. We have a dog named Mugsy. I will tell him to move out of my way literally more than 20 times a day, every day, for more than 6 years now. At least once a week, it results in this phrase...

"Mugsy. Ancient Indian word for He Who Is In The Way."

I also used to tell the dog/cats/chicken goodbye with "Be Good and NOBODY EAT ANYBODY."

He is now one year past his life expectancy with heart failure. This was supposed to be a funny video but it just made me cry 🥲

We adopted this sweet boy 5 days ago and are absolutely in love with him. He’s just 9 months old and originally was a stray in Arkansas, then was placed in a high-kill shelter, and transported up here (east coast) where my fiance and i adopted him. He will be safe, happy, and loved for the rest of his life. 🩷 Breed guesses welcome! Right now we suspect GSD, Chihuahua, and Pittie. Will DNA test soon :)
