Looks like they’re police escort riders stopping traffic for a VIP, so can’t allow that to stop, whatever happens. Imagine he made quite a scene with the driver after the convoy went past!

I think he thought the bike was gonna keep on going and was already looking for the pov vehicle to get in front.

A lot of people saying the driver must have been on his phone, but it's more likely he had seen the bike coming through and was looking behind it to see if there was a gap, without realising the bike was slowing down and stopping on the roundabout.

I think a lot of people in this thread would have done the same thing, or at least pretty similar, exactly because of this.
You don't expect someone to stop in front of you while entering a roundabout, cop or not, but you do expect to look for gaps to fill.

I'm not saying they were right, I'm just saying it's easy to focus on what's approaching the junction and assume that the vehicle passing your entrance is going to continue at the same speed. I was taught when learning to maintain a constant speed around roundabouts because people make this assumption all the time and usually subconsciously.

But even if the bike did maintain a constant speed, they were close to hitting them anyway. You should actually be watching the thing that’s obstructing your path so you can go once the obstruction is clear. You should be looking in every direction just before you go at any junction, roundabout or not. There could be a pedestrian crossing or something else.
