I've got a Dreamcast, PS2/4, GameCube, Wii, Series X/360/OG, and I'm trying to find a switcher for them.

Not necessarily all of them, but I would like to be able to use this on my trinitron and also have the option to connect to a capture card that only takes hdmi.

Was hoping for 3x component 1x HDMI in, and 1x component 1x HDMI 1x S-Video out as a minimum, would be nice to have double this and would be nice to have an S-Video out too (one of my CRTs only has S-Video in for better-than-composite)

Am I SOL for HDMI and Component out? I can't find one. I do have a 2x composite & 1x S-Video in to S-Video out which works if there's only the HDMI and Component Out as a switcher but I can't find the right keywords I guess to find this on Amazon. Looking for the best quality for these old consoles without further modding them.

Also would it work to have Component Out on a switcher into an Upscaler? And do Upscalers work well with Capture Cards?

I have two kids in elementary school, and they usually go straight to their computers after school.

Sometimes I wish there was something we could all play together. I saw the Blackview PlayPop 8 in some IFA stuff recently. Apparently, you use your body as the controller and up to four people can play at once. Sounds pretty fun.

Has anyone else seen it? Think this would be fun for family game nights?

Hey everybody!

So I’m sure everyone is aware of the PR nightmare that Sony has been going through in the last few months. I’ve been a PlayStation fanboy especially since the PS3 days and my current console is the disc version of the standard PS5.

Unfortunately, between their recent consumer-last business practices (dynamic pricing has just started to appear) and their need to stray away from discs and their combative tendency toward game ownership has left a sour taste in my mouth and to tell the truth: there aren’t any PS exclusives that have me excited especially now that Kingdom Hearts will be on multiple consoles on release.

All this being said: I’m trying to be financially responsible so I’m considering selling my PS5 and getting a Switch 2 - I’m a HUGE Star Fox fan and Nintendo’s refocus on Star Fox has been really exciting, and Nintendo always has such a good focus on releasing exclusives that actually get people excited. I’m also a big movie collector, and I just recently pulled the trigger on a Panasonic 4K player so I no longer have to rely on my PS5 for that either.

My question however is: has anyone else done this yet and if so, how did you justify it to yourself? My biggest concern point right now is that even though I don’t technically own any of it, my PS5 account has YEARS of digital purchases back into the PS4 days and if I sell my console, it’ll all be gone. I hate the idea that I’d have to buy some games again, but the only option is to buy the Switch 2 outright and keeping the PS5 which honestly, I have no interest in doing because I don’t need more gaming options to choose from. I just want one core console.

If anyone has done this, I’d love to hear what your thoughts were at the time, and bluntly: would I be an idiot for letting my PS5 go when it has hundreds of backlogged games?

This isn’t specific to any one console; it’s a question about the Television/Display you use.

I’ve been a gamer since the age of the NES, and I have never seen a TV that could support more than 4 devices on an I/O standard. No more than 4 RCAs/Composits, no more than 4 Component, and no more than 4 HDMI.

Even on the largest screens, the number of inputs of a given type never exceeds 4, as far as I can tell.

Has anyone found a TV brand that comes with more than 4 HDMI ports on some of their TVs?

Yes, I know you can use a splitter, and I am in my current setup.

Budget gamer dad looking to play single player games on the couch in the brief spare time that I have, I was thinking Xbox One X?

Clever timing by Microsoft.

1-Raising Game Pass prices to begin with.

2-Dropping the Game Pass prices back down, winning a few hearts along the way and painting it as part of a new vision with a new Head of Xbox.

3-Sony’s fumble in announcing the phasing out of physical discs.

4-Microsoft capitalising on Sony’s bad publicity by announcing that transferable digital licences will be offered and associated with physical discs going forward (doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be phased out in the future).

5-Microsoft gains positive publicity.

6-Microsoft has enough goodwill to announce the caps to cloud gaming with less backlash.

7-Microsoft employs marketing spin to soften the blow with this ‘solution’ of keeping your subscription recurring when really it’s due to subscription laws varying by country. AND a recurring subscription means players will pay the maximum possible price for their memberships.

Meanwhile:

1-When Game Pass prices increased, they quietly patched the years-long workaround of using foreign codes such as from Turkey, Argentina for Game Pass Core and then converting to Ultimate via the £1 Ultimate trial.

2-Microsoft ‘lowered’ the price again but have an excuse to no longer include new CoD releases on Game Pass = a hell of a lot more revenue for them with the MW4 sales and beyond, given they own Activision. And no more dirt cheap Game Pass from foreign codes 🤔

3 and 4-Microsoft will undoubtedly drop physical discs in the future. No question about it. They just got lucky with Sony’s stupidity in announcing it first and handling it poorly.

5 and 6-Microsoft cuts a lot of server maintenance and file hosting costs by capping cloud gaming. Financial win, ensuring this bad news is overshadowed by Sony’s major fumble.

7-Microsoft basically gives people FOMO to keep them on recurring plans at max possible price, as people are less likely to cancel and use cheaper keys/cards for their subscriptions.

That’s not even touching on the hardware price increases, which were timed to be after Sony’s own one!

TL;DR:

Gotta hand it to Microsoft, they sure know business and have been doing a great job with Series X. Polar opposite of the Xbox One.

I have an Xbox series x and a ps5. Since I made one gen on 360 and the other ps4, I have games on both libraries.

I had a PC in the meantime with games on Steam, but I don’t want the PC anymore.

I also have a Switch 2, I tend to take a lot of games on it but unfortunately they don’t all come out on this one...

So I’m currently wondering where to get my third-party games.

Do I keep filling my library on ps5 or the one on Xbox?

In fact, I’m trying to have one main platform and the other for its outsiders (since Xbox is moving back towards outsiders, the question arises).

What do you think? I suspect there will be several opinions, but if you have any arguments, I would be open to it 😊
