So, I met a woman who converted to Christianity after converting to Islam. Part of the reason she converted to Christianity was that as a Muslim, she found out that men could marry up to 4 wives, but women could have only one husband. I was very surprised she didn't know that going in. Apparently, there are women who don't know the very basic things about Islam who convert to it anyway.

It’s actually denial IMO. They hear about these things but don’t want to believe it. then find out the hard way.
