r/Commanders DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 21h ago

I’m sorry maybe I’m just stupid optimistic but isn’t this realistically possible?!?

Post image

Like if our offense is healthy and our defense especially ,with a healthy Amos back i like our chances. Our second half of the schedule is very much easier. If Jayden and Co can upset maybe 2-3 favorites… we might be playoff bound. Texans ,First eagles game and 49ers games are my sneaky wins this season. Thoughts?

This assumes we win every game we should while picking up a few upsets. It's wildly optimistic and while not impossible i just cant see it happening

u/SpecialistBee1165 21h ago

Exactly people always do this.

We are going to probably lose a game or 2 we shouldnt in the back end

u/talkingspacecoyote But there is a subpoena 21h ago

Even super bowl winning chiefs will do shit like lose to the 3 win titans or some shit.

u/itakeyoureggs Sinnott Slutt 🥵 12h ago

Yeah, but.. until we prove we are that level we can’t assume it.

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 21h ago

Even if JD stays healthy and the defense is let’s say top 12ish?

u/talkingspacecoyote But there is a subpoena 21h ago

I mean... if jd has an mvp caliber season and the defense is top 12 then sure, 12-5. But again, thats some incredible optimism. Not hating agaisnt it, hope it happens

u/aurora_records I Got JD5 On It 21h ago

Yeah can’t see this defense being top 20 let alone near top 10

u/rwbdanr on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 21h ago

I see the defense improving this year. I just don’t think JD5 has the ability to be his best with this offensive line

u/VT_Obruni 18h ago

I would agree with both of you actually, it'll be better than last year (which was dead last in total defense), but I still think outside of the top 20 (maybe somewhere between 21-25 for both total defense and scoring defense).

u/HughJaynis My Wife Left me for Josh Harris 20h ago

I think having a consistent legitimate pass rush will help massively. Whitt’s system was garbage, but not having anyone besides a way over the hill von miller as a pass rusher was pretty devastating to our defense.

u/ewilliam Hogs 20h ago

Not hating on the signing by any means, but do we really think that Oweh, a guy with one double digit sack season in his career, turns this squad from trash to “consistently legitimate”? I am still pretty skeptical that it’s a top-half-of-the-league pass rush. Was hoping Wise would be back -he was leading the league in QB pressures before his injury - but that hasn’t happened. Getting Dorance back will likely help, but past that, who do you see out there that is legit? Omenihu? Chaisson? Dudes are rotational pieces on most rosters.

u/SpecialistBee1165 21h ago

I dont think our dline/secondary combo is good enough to crack top 12. They can certainly be league average but i dont think we have the personnel to be a top unit on defenae

u/com-mis-er-at-ing 6h ago

That’s the incredibly optimistic part.

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 11h ago

I got downvoted for being optimistic 😂

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

All we need is for the o-line to be merely competent. Our offense could be awesome with the addition of Diggs, Williams, and Okankwo. If the o-line holds up, look out!

u/WolfColaExecutiveVP Saved by Jaysus🙏 21h ago

I think this team hovers around .500. We win a game or two as underdogs, lose a game or two as favorites, and still have lingering questions on if this can be a good team or not.

u/Hofgoober69 20h ago

Yea this team screams 7-9 wins to me. A moderately improved defense but an offense that’s hindered by oline depth.

u/elriggo44 18h ago

10-6 to 6-10 range. That 4 game difference will tell us everything we need to know and I think we find out pretty early.

u/WAS_Commanders 16h ago

Probably half the NFL is in that same range. I like our chances because I like our QB.

u/elriggo44 16h ago

For sure. JD5 gives us the edge IMO. But we’ll see.

u/beddowcj 14h ago

There’s 17 games

u/elriggo44 9h ago

10-6-1 or 6-10-1

u/itakeyoureggs Sinnott Slutt 🥵 12h ago

Always time to mesh as an oline towards the end.

u/chillyk45 18h ago

I agree. I think we were a 10 win team at BEST before LTs injury. Folks saying sub-5 wins are just doomers.

Fortunately, I think 9 wins wins the NFCE this year.

u/Syphin33 16h ago

Which is fine, i wouldn't be upset.

That means improvement, as long as we IMPROVE im gonna be fine.

u/woatboat on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 20h ago

Am I insane for saying if we win 7-9 games and Jayden is healthy and looks awesome that no matter what else happened it’s a RESOUNDING success of a season?

If we go 8-9, Jayden looks great, a few guys flash, the coordinators don’t out and out suck… we’re absolutely talking deep playoff run potential in 2027.

u/CustardLimp359 10h ago

Realistic thinking

u/219_Infinity 20h ago

Winning 7 in a row to end the season is wild unless you are Joe Gibbs trying to make the playoffs

u/imfletch22 18h ago

No. This is stupidly optimistic. Emphasis on stupid. We are not beating the Texans or the Jags. 3-3 in the division is the very best we get. That puts us at 9-7…if everything goes our way. But a 1-9 start is very possible. Which demoralizes everybody and we end up 3-14.

u/imfletch22 18h ago

Also, last year is way more indicative of what kind of team we are vs the year before when EVERYTHING went right and we were playing nothing but cupcakes.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLLEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

u/KenyAzalea 17h ago

YESSSSS, PREACHHHHHHH

u/NightwingArc 21h ago

Nothing wrong with optimism. I just wish this sub had more balance, but that’s difficult when people get downvoted for pushing back on negative narratives or simply trying to see the upside.

u/ewilliam Hogs 21h ago

I find that the “balance” varies wildly from thread to thread. One of them will have all top voted comments talking about how rough the roster looks, then next will be all people talking about how ten wins is our floor. I’ve had literally the same comment in one thread get upvoted wildly, then get downvoted to hell in another. This place is just plain manic, especially after the Tunsil injury.

u/BubblegumPOW 21h ago

I do think that’s a little optimistic. We could very easily be 1-7 after week 9. Brutal first half schedule. You never know though. That’s why we love football!

u/att5786 15h ago

Assuming no major injuries I think we’re 3-3 going into the bye week. Just feel like we’re better than Indy, NYG and SF

u/Troll_Enthusiast He Sold 20h ago

Doesn't seem too insane like what most pessimistic fans think, but i'd still say we'd go 11-6 or 10-7

u/Cultural-Spring-281 21h ago

Texans will be tough. Dallas always plays us tough. Jags will also be difficult. Depends how Murray plays Vikings can also be good. No one knows though a 8+ win season would be great in my books tbh.

u/AaronBurrIsInnocent 21h ago

Ludicrous. No way we lose to the bengals.

u/rthonpm 18h ago

A healthy Joe Burrow and even a semblance of an NFL defence by the Bengals and they will be a very tough out.

u/challenja 20h ago

I would switch loss to eagles week 1 and win against Dallas week 2

u/Mr-Tiggo-Bitties I love to kiss tittiess 20h ago

u/mattgodin7 20h ago

Why would we beat the eagles away and then lose at home?

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 20h ago

Because we might struggle against there receivers unlike the eagles

u/REP281 18h ago

u/xtehnYouTube 20h ago

I agree with this tbh

u/SweerBaby_Use1023 20h ago

Yes it’s possible

u/actual1 20h ago

Someone is optimistic

u/PhoenixCogburn 19h ago

Anything is possible. This team could go all the way or flame out like last year. That’s why we’re invested. That’s why they play the game.

u/Hermit1978 18h ago

Yes you are. But if you can't be overly optimistic before the first kick off when can you be? Hoping you're right!

u/lesterjayj 18h ago

This. Also it’s more fun. WTF would/should I be a realist about rooting for my team? As if reality wasn’t already stressful enough.

u/dingerz4daze 11h ago

This is it, this is the way

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 11h ago

It’s the only way brother🙂‍↔️

u/FlatStanly 21h ago

I honestly don’t know that you watch football after reading this. You expect us to beat the Eagles week one but lose to the cowboys immediately following???? I get we normally lose when we play in Dallas, but that’s more coincidence and superstition than actually based off the stats of the teams this year

u/MediocreJerk 21h ago

I expect the Cowboys to win the NFCE this year (ugh). The Eagles are still a good team but, based on their roster, and worse than last year and much worse than the SB winning team. Eagles also generally start off slow.

I think it’s very possible we pull out all the tricks week 1 and have an upset win, while Philly gets their shit together in later weeks and beats us in the second matchup. I can’t imagine us beating Dallas in week 2. Realistically, if I was forced to bet I would say we’re starting 0-3, but week 1 is probably our best matchup of those three

u/Ninjablacksox1 21h ago

I do as well. Hurts is in a new rythym passing game, which he isn't good at, with new recievers. We have an unknown offense and defense. We will beat them.

I don't think we can contain pickens and lamb but will get another shot at home week 18.

u/acegregg 19h ago

Ninja, brother, I love this optimism. For real. But we are gonna get smoked by the Cowpies. They got a LOT better in the off season, and we did not. Gonna be fugly, imho.

Hail

u/Ninjablacksox1 18h ago

Any given Sunday but yes I do think we lose week 2. Especially considering amos is out.

Week 18 at home, hopefully for the division could very well be different.

Yes they got better but we got a lot better also.

u/FlatStanly 20h ago

You’re crazy if you’re really gambling unknowns above a sb winning qb cause he’s trying something new. We’re looking at 0/3 as our most likely start

u/Ninjablacksox1 20h ago

Your loss. Easy money.

u/FlatStanly 20h ago

Have fun paying FanDuel on Sunday

u/Ninjablacksox1 20h ago

Will do sir.

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

No way we start 0-3.

u/BeigePhilip 20h ago

I just can’t see us beating Philly, or Indy, or SF. We’re much improved from last year but the problems that remain are pretty serious.

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

Indy?

u/BeigePhilip 10h ago

We couldn’t keep JD on his feet with the OLine we had last year and I don’t think we’re any better this time around. The Colts, meanwhile, have put some work into their defense. I don’t think we can beat them unless someone on our line makes a huge step up.

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

I'm thinking we start 2-1. With our loaded offense and Allegretti back, our offense should be tough to stop. If the defense steps up to top 15, we win the division. We have a much younger, faster team this year, much better than 2024. Daniels when he's healthy is a top 5 WB. Lamar, Daniels, and Stafford I rank ahead of him. Our WR room is so much better this year. Been a Redskin fan since 1981. Signing of Diggs was huge for Daniels. I'm just laying out what I see in the roster. The starters played so little in the preseason so the only important thing coming out of those games is putting together the best 53. On top of this we now have a field goal kicker that can kick those 50/60 yard field goals.

u/Jfonzy 20h ago

Win @ Philly week 1..

No

u/KneeDragr 21h ago

I could see 10 wins, I can't see us winning all the games against SF, Houston, Jacksonville, all playoff teams last season, but 1 of those 3 seams pretty good chance.

u/MediocreJerk 21h ago

This is probably at the most optimistic end of what is realistic. Possible, but highly unlikely. I would be shocked and elated if we win more than 9.

u/grasspikemusic 20h ago

We are not a Superbowl contender this year and 3 seasons in to a total rebuild from the worst owner in Pro Sports, and some of the worst Coaches and Home Offices in the NFL no one should expect us to be

I think we will get 8-9 wins and show improvement over last year. DQ and AP won't go anywhere and we enter next year's draft which should be strong with all of our picks

That's all we can ask for an expect and we should all be fine with that. We have a brutal first 6 games but an easier run in November and December

We could just as easily lose a few close ones and have 6 wins on the year, especially if we have more bad luck with injuries

Or we could win a few close ones and get 10 wins. Especially if we get lucky with injuries and play some teams that are unlucky with injuries

We should all be OK with that also as long as we look better and have improved from last year.

As a lifelong fan going WAY back to the 1970s I want to build a dynasty, I don't want to keep on doing the cycle of burn it all down and start over every few years, or destroying our future by being in win it now mode and trading away pics

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

That's not all I expect.

u/Da_Millionaire 21h ago

I think you have it backwards on splits with eagles

u/Ninjablacksox1 21h ago

Nope. We're beating them week 1. Bank on it.

u/WuPacalypse LEFT HAND UP 20h ago

Idk, they are getting flamed for their offense a little bit. Might be able to sneak a week 1 win if the eagles aren’t in mid season form yet.

u/REP281 18h ago

Do you think we will be mid season form?

Out of the two teams the eagles are more game ready then washington.

u/WuPacalypse LEFT HAND UP 17h ago

Mid season form for us usually means a stupid amount of injuries and underperforming, so hopefully we are not in mid season form.

u/Hodler_caved 21h ago

I think any one of those Ws you have are possible

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 21h ago

u/REP281 18h ago

How? That is not possible unless...

u/pdoggaming 21h ago

I lowkey think we also beat the bengals

u/ticket21truth 21h ago

Road wins in Philly and SF would be incredibly tough, but yes possible.

u/Inner-Mountain-1634 21h ago

Been a fan since 1981, 11 wins max.

u/jgruntz1974 20h ago

I think the team is going to start poorly. I'm talking 1-6 or 2-5 record. After that, that's when I think things will begin to gel and I'm thinking in the 6-4 or 7-3 record.

Right now, injuries are just decimating the club. It also doesn't help that Peters and Quinn are comfortable with the team the way it is. They don't have a legitimate center and that's a crucial element to the offensive line. Trey Amos looks to be a little injury prone and he plays a position that is weak and they really need him.

I think a 7-10 or 8-9 record is probably where they end up. I don't think they'll get blown out in games, but we're going to see where they're really weak and what needs to be addressed.

u/Anotherweekend7 20h ago

I can’t understand why everyone one is counting one of the best defenses in the league as an easy win. Same with the Jags who probably will face some regression but are a good team that went 13-4 last season.

u/Bait_esq 20h ago

The loss after the bye week is a little too on brand.

u/steely-gar 20h ago

From your mouth to God’s ear.

u/caddyncells 20h ago

If healthy all year and playing at 2024 type Offense output, then yes.

u/owenmills04 19h ago

I don’t see us going 4-2 in conference

u/yung_indigestion 19h ago

Closing out on 7 wins?

u/Savings-Variation801 19h ago

I have Cincinnati as a sneaky win too.

u/MartinC077 18h ago

A far more realistic outcome is reverse the numbers.

u/B1GBa11ZEater 18h ago

So we’re beating Philly in the opener in Philly but then losing to Dallas? Makes no sense

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 18h ago

It’s football it always makes sense lol

u/rthonpm 18h ago edited 16h ago

Dallas has owned this team since 1962. Beating them is as rare as hen's teeth.

u/B1GBa11ZEater 17h ago

except Daniels as a rookie got further than Dak has in 10 years so who cares what’s been happening since 62 old man

u/Anthony_chromehounds 18h ago

No, that’s delusional thinking, flip that record around and it’d be more appropriate.

u/Crazy-Philosophy-530 18h ago

We going 10-7 gang

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 18h ago

Not with that attitude, we won’t!

u/lesterjayj 18h ago

Looks great to me. I’d add a couple more W’s. Let’s go!!!!👍👊💪

u/REP281 18h ago

Obviously anything can happen, but the fact you started with a win against the eagles, a team that is more likely ready for week 1 then Washington says you are wearing rose colored glasses.

Based on the off-season (signings, injuries, training camp, and our head coach) I expect 4-13, 5-12 this season.

u/Environmental_Park_6 18h ago

It's not that optimistic. Recency bias and being beaten up by Dan Snyder has this team rated as maximum pessimism.

u/SnooCompliments3682 18h ago

2024 ain’t coming back fam. I’m sorry to say it but it’s true. We’re back to being mediocre at best, horrible at certain points, decent at others

u/LawyerFriendLenny 18h ago

I live in north jersey so maybe the local media hype has screwed with my brain, but unfortunately I don't see us sweeping the Giants this year.

u/EyeCanFeelYou 17h ago

I think we come up short in week one but shock the league with wins in weeks two and three. I also see us winning week eleven against the bengals. 14 and 3 and back in the NFCCG. I’m optimistic too!

u/Vivid-Respect-1869 16h ago

I don't see us going 12-5... although anything's possible if: JD stays healthy (let's not forget he's the real thing, top 5-7 in the league), the D has notably improved (which I think it will with the several many new players we got in the offseason), and the Oline interior somehow competently performs... but if I believed the doomers here, I wouldn't even watch the games and I'd already be focused on our 2027 draft ;)

u/scuba_steve_DC 16h ago

As one of the big haters on this sub, I’m still going to say - “Of course, anything is possible”.

But to start with the most glaring question from jump street… n what work would a team 2 years remove from the Super Bowl, who won the division last year, who’s strengths are running back, oline, defense and who’s only possible downgrade (wr) is going against our weakest unit (secondary) while our offensive line is in shambles, our running game is mid, our passing games new coach, new receivers and a patchy oline…

In what world would you ever think beating Philly is possible any more than the “anything’s possible” “any given Sunday” chances?

Now the questionable games: Indy - great running game and decent pass team with a lot of wins early last year (I predict an L), Giants - I predict we are in the bottom of the division this year and the GMen will be near the top (or at it). This is more of a coaching and talent gut feeling though so it is the closest of this 3 game stretch (also being divisional) that I’m 50/50 on.

San Fran is just much better coached, better talent and probably an L but I’m not nearly as certain of these last 3 as I am the first 3

u/Lindycrush 6h ago edited 6h ago

Indy - Never bet on Daniel Jones. Guy tackles himself just running.

NYG - Harbough is a joke and should have been fired by the Ravens years ago.

49ers - Plagued by injuries. Every scandal that can happen seems to be keeping them in the news. Daejon Love, greatest wide receiver to never do it, got cut.

Philly - Hurts is one of the worst QB’s to ever get a ring. Contain the run, make him have to beat you through the air, and any game against the Eagles is winnable.

u/Commandersfan328 16h ago

I think 10 wins is teadonable

u/Syphin33 16h ago

Even if you add 2 more loses it's still 10-7 which is enough to clinch against maybe the Texans may be a loss, their defense is fucking terrifying and another team.

u/Opposite-Impact-6623 16h ago

Very possible

u/EyEdeA2121 16h ago

Def not possible

u/One_Team_1294 15h ago

Do we know if Amos is good yet? Much less how he’ll bounce back after a broken leg.

u/jehosophat44 14h ago

absolutely insane. This team is best case 4-13

u/Royal-Trip-2406 DIGG'S LATE, BUT INEVITABLE BOWEL MOVEMENT TRACKER 11h ago

Alright man relax lol

u/beddowcj 14h ago

I think we’ll be 10-7

u/Confident_Pear_8303 14h ago

5-12 is ALOT more likely.

u/Dangerous-Meal8303 13h ago

If the o line can hold up and Jayden stays healthy, a 12 win season is certainly possible and the playoffs should be expected.

The world will be shocked by the turnaround of the defense. Joe Witt had no business being a dc. The dude was way in over his head and because of it we started games with a 14 point handicap. By having a competent DC, we should at a minimum be league average, that’s how bad Joe Witt was, it’ll be an extreme addition by subtraction. On top of that we’ve added speed and talent to the defense. It wouldn’t surprise me if we are a top half of the league defense.

Losing Tunsil hurt, but Jayden’s legs make it a bad idea for d lineman to pin their ears back. Jayden can avoid rushers. As long as Jayden isn’t dealing with multiple jail breaks, then losing Tunsil shouldn’t hurt our chance at a good record to much. Hopefully he can return for the playoffs. Diggs and Terry can be a nasty WR duo and with Jayden’s ability to get 1st downs with his legs, the offense can be really good.

Good PR, Good KR, Great punter, hopefully we finally got a good K.

I think the fail mode is Jayden getting hurt, this is how we don’t make the playoffs. But if he does get hurt, Athan will eventually get to play, and will become the next Tom Brady. Get him to the Greek will be the best QB in the history of Washington football if he gets the opportunity. There is something special about him

u/daydenjaniels 13h ago

unfortunately this is not realistic as I have this team going at least 17-0

u/La1zrdpch75356 13h ago

They're all legit, including Josephs.

u/KaosJoe07 12h ago

Anything is possible, but the changes are low. I like your optimism though.

u/FannyNisbit 12h ago

Possible? Sure. Likely? Fuck no lol.

Without a lot of luck, we're going to have a losing season this year.

Unfortunately our roster and coaching is too good to not land a top three draft pick (without major injuries), so we cant trade build for the future off of that =/

u/Lindycrush 6h ago

We can always depend on the NY Giants to win their last couple games and give us better draft position though! 😂

u/FannyNisbit 6h ago

Fair!!!

u/MichaelKeegan 12h ago

We can take the Bengals. 13-4 is more like it.

Also, I’d rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right

u/StonkHatWoody 12h ago

I think the the season depends on the first 9 games. If we can win 4 of the first 9, then yes I believe we can win 6 or 7 of the last 8 and be in position for playoffs.

u/CustardLimp359 12h ago

technically anything is possible but this is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY unlikely. 🤷‍♂️

u/raiderMoes 11h ago

It is definitely impossible.

u/HTTRyan21 10h ago

I’d switch niners and bengals and count Houston or jags as a loss. Otherwise, I agree 10-12 wins is possible

u/timwhatley993 21h ago

Not impossible but not sure the team is good enough for a 7 game winning streak to end the year.

u/_groovesharkmalone Ageless Wonder 20h ago

First of all through Jesus all things are possible, so write that down.

u/COACHREEVES 20h ago

I don’t know what to expect.

I understand that we didn’t really see the “new“ offense.

I understand our defense looked fairly good against guys who are on, indeed and LinkedIn now looking to catch on at an insurance agency.

Start with such a brutal schedule and I’m really just hoping by the end of the year we’re fighting for maybe a Wild card and That we have a ton of hope for next year. Anything more would be gravy and I hope I won’t be too disappointed by anything less.

u/tx_bayou 20h ago

More likely that we go 5-12 than 12-5

u/CrispyMonrovia 19h ago

No, not even close. Our first win of the season will be week 5. Our second win of the season will be week 10. This is Cowboys-fan level delusional.

u/chowdhuryhameem 20h ago

This is where I’m at post-Tunsil injury. A month back, I had made a post on here with us going 10-7, which I think is still possible but as a ceiling.

u/MoreDeadishThanNot 16h ago

Even if the season goes remarkably well, a loss to New York and the Texans is likely. I predict 5 wins (due to injuries along the oline, secondary, and QB as a result of the oline) but I’d prefer that you be closer to correct 😁
