Mod Post Just a reminder from your friendly CWY mod team: abusing the report button is against Reddiquette and site-wide Reddit rules.

We all know who the real mod is and this video demonstrates she is clearly tired of our shit.

You are absolutely correct. I’m merely a puppet, a conduit if you will, for Grudge’s eventual world domination.
•
u/Khaotic_fish Jul 27 '26
Grudge? Does he hold one?
•
u/WithoutDennisNedry Jul 27 '26
She is named after the cat on Star Trek: Discovery. “[Grudge] because she’s heavy and she’s all mine.”

He? Despite clearly having been called She? That's going in the book.

Makes me wonder if people have made bots that just report everything for some fuckin reason
•
u/TheRealMasterTyvokka Jul 27 '26
I don't know if reddit cares is still around but there are some people who would weaponize that if they couldn't handle losing a debate or didn't like a comment or post.
I suspect that might be what's going on as well reports.
•
u/VoodooDoII Jul 27 '26
Reddit cares is definitely still around, I see people ask about it still
I don't get them anymore but that's because I blocked it lol
•
u/SevroAuShitTalker Jul 27 '26
Its a lot less frequent than it was a year or two ago. I used to get it everytime I disagreed with someone in comments.
•
u/TheRealMasterTyvokka Jul 28 '26
I feel like reporting and blocking after a comment have become the new debate "gotchas."

Hey, what basement-dwellers choose to do with their time ain’t none of my business.

I have never reported anything in this sub; however, I will say that when I have reported a post before, my app didn't allow me to report certain options available. For example, if I would report a post for breaking a sub's rules, a little toast notification would pop up at the bottom saying, "reddit is having difficulty" or something similar. So I would have to choose something completely off topic like spam in order for the report to go through. Just my two cents on the report button not working properly.
But back to the topic at hand...why is anyone reporting anything in this sub? Unless it's something completely off topic.
Also, I love Grudge. Please tell her I said pspspspsps.

That’s a really important point and I glad you brought it up because I’d like to address it.
If a post breaks the sub or site rules in any way, it’s more important you get mods attention about it than the reason you’ve chosen in the options screen. We see those and we instantly know exactly what happened (Reddit glitches for us too) so we don’t report those as report abuse. We are just glad someone looped us in so we can do something about whatever rule-breaking is occurring.
So please don’t let Reddit’s difficulty toast stop you from reporting legit rule-breaking, just do what you’ve always done and choose the option available that fits closest. The legit report abuse is when there’s a completely normal, rule-abiding post of a kitty vocalizing—nothing more, nothing less—and someone reports it for “targeted harassment” or “NSFW” or some other nonsense. It’s those we report to Reddit admin for abusing the report button.
To answer your question, I couldn’t tell you why people report posts in this sub for no reason. Admin has told us it’s not the same person doing it every time so either it’s one or more people who just make a ton of burner accounts for the sole purpose of doing it (I don’t know if Reddit admin can see if it’s different IPs or not), or there’s a strange phenomenon that makes lots of people do it in this particular sub. It’s a real head-scratcher! None of the other subs I mod have this problem.
The thing that’s irksom isn’t that it’s a problem for us mods, it only takes a second to clear the post and report the abuse so it’s nbd for us at all. I just feel bad for the people whose post has been reported for no reason. There are times when one of us can’t get to it to approve the post for hours or days and that’s not fair to the OP who did nothing wrong.
On your last point, I absolutely will. She’s such a darling, that Grudge. Best natured cat I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing my home with. “Pspspspsps” delivered! And thanks again for bringing up this important topic. :)

Can we all agree that Grudge deserves some treats for putting up with us?
•
u/ChopsticksImmortal Jul 27 '26
Thats a king sized floof!
•
u/WithoutDennisNedry Jul 27 '26
She 90% foof, indeed! She’s smaller under there but still a big kitty and she’s heavy as hell. She’s dense like a neutron star lol. Siberians do be like that.
Shes an old lady (15) so can’t really take care of her coat like she used to. We get her groomed twice a year now and she’s a lot more comfortable.

I love that it looks like your cat wrote most of the announcement, I love this omg

How much do you wanna bet these reports are on posts made by queer people.
•
u/WithoutDennisNedry Jul 27 '26
It’s pretty random, but that wouldn’t surprise us. We are a pretty supportive sub and all are welcome here as long as they don’t break the sub rules.
I think it’s more likely someone who has had a post removed and they lost their shit so now they’re gonna “show us” mods or whatever. You’d be surprised how many people crash out when a silly Reddit post of theirs is denied. It’s like the end of the world or something.
They can keep doing it if that’s what makes them feel better, we just laugh and report it to Reddit.

They absolutely do something about it. We get updates periodically about the reports and who gets banned and such.

•
u/WithoutDennisNedry Jul 27 '26
Practically every day, completely innocuous posts are falsely reported in this sub. NSFW, “targeted harassment,” “spam,” “hate speech,” etc., we see it all.
I couldn’t tell you why people do this, but just to reiterate Reddit’s site-wide rules, REPORTING RULE-BREAKING WHEN NONE HAS OCCURRED IS AGAINST REDDIT’S RULES and considered report abuse; doing so may get your account suspended. Every time a false report comes in, us mods report it to Reddit and habitual violators get flagged by Reddit for account removal. If you really piss off Reddit admin, I believe they’ll suspend your IP address so even if you make new accounts to skirt the ban, they’ll shut you down again. No Reddit for you.
If you think that’s worth it? Go ahead, keep abusing the report button. It takes just a second for us mods to delete the report, approve the content, and report you to Reddit admin so it’s no skin off our noses, barely an inconvenience. Instead, you could just enjoy the sub and all the silly, mouthy kitties here spreading joy but it’s your choice, you do you.
Thank you for your attention to this matter :)
*For you normal folks just here for the cats, I’ve included a video of Grudge doing what Grudge does for you to enjoy. She’s a very talky gal and yes, she smokes a pack a day.
