Seeking Help Time Stretch not working in Cakewalk Next
The usual manual and all tutorials I have found say that if I hold the Control key and drag the edge of an audio clip, it will time stretch. However that just not happening. Instead, it acts the same as if I didn't press the control key, and just changes the clip range. Am I missing something, or am I uniquely cursed? TIA

Seeking Help Help figuring out this matrix loop issue?
Hey! So this is what's happening: I have a 9 1/16th notes loop duration, as seen in the upper image. I want to loop them in the matrix, so I drag the midi clip to the matrix and play it.
However, the matrix does not loop the 9 1/16th clip, it loops a 12 1/16th notes clip, as if it were a midi clip like the one in the bottom image (see the green pointer at the grid)
It's not just 9 1/16th note loops, but any clip duration that isn't a multiple of 4 1/16th, meaning that only loops 4 1/16th, 8 1/16th, 12 1/16th, 16 1/16th and so on.
My guess is that I'm missing something here, so any help would be much appreciated.

Seeking Help Multiple Sonar crashes per day — anyone else seeing this?
In the last year or so I've gotten back into recording after about a decade away. I'm a long-time Sonar user from "back in the day," so I returned to it and currently pay for the full license.
I'm currently running Sonar 32.08.0.040 on Windows 11, using a MOTU M4 with the MOTU ASIO driver.
I still love it — it fits my workflow perfectly — BUT... I typically experience multiple crashes per day.
I've been examining the crash reports/dumps, and it doesn't appear to be any particular plugin crashing, nor does it appear to be an obvious problem with my ASIO driver. The crashes do seem to happen more frequently when I have plugin oversampling enabled, and there seems to be some relationship to project/plugin load, although I've also had crashes in relatively new projects with very few plugins.
From what I can tell from the crash reports, most of the crashes are access violations occurring in Sonar.exe on the real-time audio thread, and the recurring stack signature includes:
m7_ippsLn_32f_A21
This same signature appears repeatedly in my crash reports, and I've also found reports from other Cakewalk users showing the same symbol.
I have a fairly powerful Windows 11 PC and there is no indication that I'm pushing it too hard. Engine load is typically low. I usually have my buffer set to 1024 or 2048 samples (unless I'm tracking), and this seems to help somewhat, but I'm still seeing multiple crashes per day. A fair number of them occur when the DAW is apparently idle.
Fortunately, I haven't yet had a crash that I couldn't recover from. I save frequently and haven't lost any work yet. But this is becoming more than just a minor annoyance, especially when working on larger projects that take a long time to (re)load.
I realize I haven't provided enough technical information here to diagnose a specific problem, and that's not really my intention with this post. I'm mainly interested in finding out whether this is something other Sonar users are experiencing, or whether my crash frequency is unusually high.
If this is common among other users, I'd be interested to hear how you've dealt with it. If it's unusual, I'm willing to dig deeper into my own system and try to identify the root cause.

Seeking Help Issues with buffering and clipping in Cakewalk Next DAW
I've had this issue for a year now, and haven't found a way to solve it besides extremely confusing connections that make me not want to produce music.
So far I've figured out that the buffering comes from the VST plugins I use, Arturia, to be specific. It happens with others as well but I mainly want to fix this one, considering I've paid a lot of money for the tones, and I can't even use them.
It doesn't happen when I input certain tones, but it happens in extreme buffering when a tone with any slight reverb is played. Along with synths, pianos, pads, and just about anything if it's played a lot.
Sadly I've been limited to only the Bandlab tones that are built in, which gets on my nerves to be limited when musicmaking.
So far I have also figured out that by using my G560 Speakers as the external audio device (not using Bluetooth), then plugged to my headphones, makes the buffer and clipping go away. However it's much too confusing and the wire keeps glitching.
I normally use headphones to the headphone jack to my Dynabook laptop and use the built-in audio driver. Which apparently causes latency.
\\-------------------------
Specifications:
Dynabook laptop
8.00 GB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz Processor
\\---------------------------
I was really hoping not to buy some $200 sound audio interface to solve this issue, perhaps you have a better idea of what to do, I'd really appreciate the help.
Thank you in advance.

Seeking Help How do I prevent a clip from jumping to the beginning or middle when clicking and holding its end? (Cakewalk Next)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, I am new to Cakewalk Next and need help with a timeline behavior where clicking and holding a clip from its tail end causes it to instantly shift position backward to its middle or start. This automatic layout rearrangement only happens at specific zoom levels and works completely normal if the clip is dragged from the front. Changing the Auto-Snap configuration, pressing Shift, Cmd, Ctrl, or using any key combination before clicking does not change this.
Is there a specific setting to disable this automatic repositioning so I can smoothly drag tracks from the end?

Seeking Help Odd Miroslav Philharmonik behavior - some tracks no longer play audio
All the other VSTs I'm using in Sonar work fine. However, I have in a project around 5 Miroslav Philharmonik (version 2 VST3) tracks playing. Two of them currently work playing the MIDI notes that are routed out as audio, the others not. MIDI notes are being triggered, but no audio. The track channels are the same as those in the VST. It only started doing this after a recent Windows update. No problem before.
Sometimes there's a track that does play from the sequencer, and if I stop it and then try to play on the track from my controller keyboard, then it will mute somehow. And not come back. Very weird. There are no controller values zeroing out the volume somehow. Perhaps a reinstall of the VST is in order?
UPDATE - A cello track that was playing fine from the sequence now won't after I stopped it playing and then tried playing from my keyboard controller. Now it won't play. Fortunately the tracks that were working I bounced down to audio tracks so at least I have them as audio.

Seeking Help Drum mixing tips
I have a 4 mic setup: 2 over heads (Glyn Johns method), 1 snare mic, and one kick mic.
Do yall have any suggestions for mixing drum recordings? I add some compression and reverb on a drum bus, EQ to each track, and that’s about it so far. The recording I have on my phone has the drums sounding a bit thin. The two over heads are about 20-24 inches away from the snare drum.

[SOLVED] Seeking help [QUESTION] How do I route my Scarlett Solo through Cakewalk so Discord receives the processed guitar?
I'm trying to set up my Focusrite Scarlett Solo so I can use Cakewalk/SONAR for amp simulation and effects, then send the processed guitar audio into Discord.
My ideal signal chain is:
Guitar → Scarlett Solo → Cakewalk → processed audio → Discord
I want to plug my guitar directly into the Scarlett Solo, have Cakewalk receive it through the Scarlett's ASIO driver, apply something like an amp sim/effects chain, then route Cakewalk's output into a virtual audio input which Discord can use as my microphone.
The part I'm stuck on is getting the audio output from Cakewalk back into Windows/Discord while still using the Scarlett's ASIO driver.
I've tried using Voicemeeter Banana and the VoiceMeeter Insert Virtual ASIO driver, but I haven't managed to get the signal from Cakewalk back into Voicemeeter correctly.
Would ASIO4ALL be a better approach, or is there a proper way to do this while keeping the Scarlett's native ASIO driver?
I'm mainly looking for the correct routing setup rather than recommendations for different gear. Thanks.

💡Ideas Used cakewalk for professional projects 2 decades ago, will it still suit my needs?
Used cakewalk for professional projects 2 decades ago, will it still suit my needs?
I am a DJ. Well, I was a DJ, haven't done much of anything being in over two decades. I started off with a copy of cakewalk, and at the time, I put together some mixes way ahead of its time. I came out with several different CDs, which still circulate the Internet today and for sale from different retailers. I hope to think this is going to be like riding a bike again, that I could just pick up where I left off. But things have changed, I have Neuro issues. Learning isnt very easy for me and im a little slow overall because of the neurologic disease. But that being said, I would greatly like to use cakewalk, even though it has changed a bit, looks more familiar than anything else.
I now have a couple kids that are musicians and want to help me, but they are against anything AI and they are generally against such programs as fruity loops. I had planned on buying fruit loops to generate some of my own music, this is not gonna be the bulk for my mix, just for some added drum loops. It may be a few cents if I'm feeling crazy… But now that my kids have their hands in it, they wanna put their own track mix as well… I thought, great saving some money I won't have to buy fruity loops… But then I thought again about it, what if they get distracted? So my question to you is, if they start off helping me in the beginning and get busy/disintrested, will I be able to finish my mix/remixes while saving the progress and finishing out on fruit loops and composing it on cakewalk like I'm accustomed to.. or should I just suck it up, try to learn a new program like fruity loops and do everything in there? The reason why I keep thinking fruit loops is because I remember dabbling it a couple decades l ago and I remember it being very easy. I have no formal musical training myself. I don't consider myself a musician, although I have remix tracksI produced mixes They have always been well received, even when cakewalk didn't do much of anything except track the music.
So I need some opinions, should I get both cakewalks and fruit loops for my project? If I get only cakewalk, where do you recommend I get doors from? I'm looking for quantity quality and price point obviously . Second, they do live music so they don't have a controller and I don't have a controller as well. I want something decent, nothing too cheap and nothing too expensive. Something that's compatible with fruit loops, and cakewalk possibly would be preferred. Also, do we need external sound cards these days? I may want to hiccup print tables so my computer however I have made mixes in the past using virtual DJs recording feature and that may be the cleanest way for me to go but if it'll make my job much more harder, I'll buy a sound card. I feel dumb asking this because I don't even know if the sound cards are still a thing anymore. Lol thanks for the help Andsuggestions? Anything else that might be missing here? Thank you

🗣️Feedback Exchange Is our money refundable?
These developers have been creating half-baked features and tools since X2! Now they’re doing the same shit under the BandLab name. These “Core Plugins” are a joke! They push "updates" every month but you do not see any new features. They claim to fix bugs, but its still there. Their support team also hold no knowledge of the DAW.
This Cakewalk Next DAW is even worse than Audacity! 14-year-olds develop much better and more complex software than these “so-called experienced developers.”
I regret wasting my $99 on this crap.

🍵Discussions/Tutorials i figured out how to remove shared "bandlab" plugins.
after generating a scanlog of my VSTs (of which sonar added over 1,000!!!!!!!) i found that the shared bandlab vsts come from a file called "BandlabVSTShell.vst3.
SO.
if you go to this address in the screenshot and simply delete that vst file, they will all go away and stop clogging your memory :)

Seeking Help Psychos of reddit, help me make an argent metal tone
I would like to start with "I have no idea what on earth I am doing," along with "let's use only free stuff for the sake of it."
I have:
Shreddage Stratus Free
Shreddage Precision
Guitar Rig 7
OTT
Ozone 12 EQ
riffs; i dont need help with music theory. this is strictly about the guitar tone
the will to learn how on earth to work a guitar amp like a guitarist, not like a guitourist, which I currently am
As far as I know, that is basically all I need. I can get real close to something I'm happy with, but there's one problem. All the sound comes out super muddy. Every time I make the sound heavier, it gets muddier. I can get super heavy sounds that sound like they're played underwater, and cleaner, open sounds, but no combination of the two.
What I don't have:
Any method of detuning, which is obviously a problem with a 6-string
education; i am not stupid, i just don't know
I have discovered that I can use the built-in shreddage pitchbend value, automate that and slam it down, keep it there, and that basically acts like a detune. I also know that reverb kills the sound, so i reduce it way down, but keep a little
I also want this to be kinda fun, so throw funny ideas at me if you have any. lets try some crazy stuff too, because why not. maybe it'll sound cool, maybe it'll sound like deep fried nickleback, maybe it'll sound like a wood chipper. it can't sound any worse than what I already have going, absolutely anything helps out.
Thank you for reading, thank you for commenting if you did.

Seeking Help Recording while simultaneously listening
I'm trying to record a song directly through my keyboard which has its output in a mixing table (Behringer EURORACK UB1832FX-PRO) which it's hooked unto other instruments, the output of the mixing table is to a sound card (Behringer U-CONTROL UCA 222) and that goes to the computer, I have selected the sound card as the mic and the output is also the sound card since it has headphones, is there anyway to possibly hear what I'm recording while using the program's built in metronome? Any help would be much appreciated.

its Circvit Bass VST in Cakewalk Sonar. You can see the pauses in the midi notes but one note keeps just lingering from the start and throughout. If anyone knows how to prevent this it would be appreciated. Does this in all projects I have used it for.

🗣️Feedback Exchange Performing live vocal covers live streaming
Title: Need a current Cakewalk Sonar tutorial for live vocal covers on TikTok
I am trying to build a reliable live vocal cover setup using Cakewalk Sonar, but I need a current visual tutorial that follows the entire process from microphone to livestream.
My equipment:
- ASUS ProArt 16 laptop with Windows 11
- Shure SM7dB microphone
- RØDECaster Pro II
- Waves Tune Real Time
- TikTok LIVE Studio and Meld Studio
- Pixel 10 Pro XL for mobile TikTok streams
I also stream on Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and Facebook.
I need help learning how to:
- Configure the RØDECaster correctly inside Cakewalk Sonar
- Import and play an instrumental backing track
- Process my vocals in real time with pitch correction, EQ, compression, reverb, and delay
- Keep the latency low enough to sing comfortably
- Send one clean finished mix into TikTok LIVE Studio or Meld
- Send that same processed mix to my Pixel for TikTok mobile streams
- Prevent doubled vocals, echo, and guests hearing themselves
I have iADHD and learn best by watching someone perform each action while I copy it. Long explanations without showing the actual screens are difficult for me to follow.
Does anyone know of a current video tutorial that covers this complete workflow? I would also be interested in affordable one on one help through Discord or screen sharing from someone who understands Cakewalk, live vocal processing, and RØDECaster routing.
My goal is to understand the signal flow well enough to build it myself, troubleshoot it, perform live covers confidently, and eventually help other singers do the same.
