I know a lot of talk is going to be about all the drama going into this game and the narratives being thrown around about this team. But ignoring all that and just focusing on football, this is the best coached I’ve seen an LSU team in an opening game since our 2019 team. Just absolutely flawless execution on both sides of the football. Limited penalties. Smart decision making from our QB who played a very good game. 200 yards of rushing offense in one half (we did not have 200 yards of rushing offense as a team in any game last year). Good passing offense.

And then the defense. My god that defense. Seeing a Blake Baker defense loaded with talent and paired with an offense that can actually drive, keep the football, and score  is a thing of beauty. Excellent pursuit of the football, excellent tackling. Felt like an LSU defense of old during the Saban/early Miles era.

I don’t know how good we are and I don’t know how bad Clemson are, but what I can say is that we definitely executed better than I’ve seen in years in an opener (and really any regular season game in the past few years). Say what you will about Kiffin, him and his staff had the boys ready to play and I’m excited to see a fun LSU team this year cause that was fun af

Except for Jayden Daniels, has LSU had a single 100+ rush yard game since 2019?

Tyrion Davis-Price ran for 285 against Florida in 2021. School record.
