I feel like this is almost sarcastic, but your question is right. Dude should absolutely not give up his buyout unless he doesn’t want to coach anymore. Firing himself is beyond his obligation to Clemson.

Yeah, retire at the end of the season and allow the program to do a thorough search. Sure it aucks but no one's going to forget what he did for the program. If anyone is gonna get a statue at Clemson, it's Dabo.

Saying a guy should give up his money and his dream job seems silly to me. If we say the team should buy him out and allow him to resign for the public that makes more sense from his perspective. Otherwise, it is Dabo’s job to coach and Clemson’s to fire him if he isn’t performing to expectations.
