Not to exaggerate but this is the best game I’ve ever seen

Pry would have won this game 17-10 and called it a gritty win

Don't knock Pry. Great dude. He had no resources

This is insane revisionist history lol

Nah it's not. VT doubled it's salary pool across the board

Pry seems like a great guy and a great coach but he’s not a great head coach. Increased salary may have gotten him 1(?) extra win. More salary allocation and resources are true but they’re not the reason for his lackluster tenure at the helm.

In my opinion it was too big of a jump. It seems starting off at a smaller school as a HC and building a staff, then moving as a unit is the best way to succeed. Trying to hire all new staff with a limited salary pool as a first time HC at a P5 program hasn't been going well lately. Franklin brought like 20 office personnel and dozens of assistants because of the salary pool. Same way Campbell was able to bring his staff, more pay

I agree he probably would’ve had more success at a smaller conference. Our admin was just legitimately that bad and out of touch that it took interviewing Franklin to finally accept what was needed since that was required to land him.

100% both Pry & Fuente needed to happen unfortunately, in order for admin to stop playing the underdog. If that had happened DURING Beamer's era who knows how high we could have gone. Now we know the program has uncapped potential and we're starting again on the ground floor. Its incredibly exciting

He took a flyer with Marve and Bowen. Hindsight he should’ve gotten 2 veterans to help him see the bigger picture.

Someone smarter than me pointed out that if some other school hired him as their DC it would be deemed a good hire which I agree with. The optics are just confusing.
