Wait why tf would we throw Landon out there what about his redshirt??
•
u/SandhillKrane South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Redshirts can play up to four games while preserving the RS, although the latest rules change I believe gets rid of RS altogether with the "five in five" rule.
•
u/venom21685 South Carolina • OC Tech 2d ago
You can play in multiple games before burning a redshirt

I am trying not to get too high on hopium right now.
•
u/Marshmello_Man South Carolina • Liberty 2d ago
I really like having a few easy teams to start the year. It lets us workout any kinks before actual conference play starts. Even then our first SEC game is MS state so we don’t have to stress until September 26th but if we keep this up I think we have a shot

Ok I usually can get names pretty close...but what the hell is this KSU QBs name
•
u/JumboDakotaSmoke South Carolina • Navy 2d ago
I’ve actually liked how clean the game looks without the bottom line. A no yellow false flag incidents as a bonus
•
u/srajar4084 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I don’t remember the last time I was truly this happy after a Week 1 game (including every time we’ve played a shit team in Week 1)
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Certainly not under Beamer. We finish strong, but start slow under him consistently.
Edit: Forgot how well he did in his opening game, but I and very few others were the ones optimistic about it future.
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
It's impressive how many games were 1 score going into the 4th, or even us leading, against ranked teams last year. Makes you wonder what we could've done with an offense in the top 100...
•
•
u/JumboDakotaSmoke South Carolina • Navy 2d ago
Shula must answer for his crimes
•
u/venom21685 South Carolina • OC Tech 2d ago
He should be renditioned to a black site for his crimes against football.
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
He deserves hangnails on every finger, and a remote that keeps getting lost.
•
u/venom21685 South Carolina • OC Tech 2d ago
Whoa calm down Satan
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
It would be excessive if he wasn't still convinced he was not the problem.
•
u/JumboDakotaSmoke South Carolina • Navy 2d ago
Respect to the students who have stuck it out in this heat.
•
u/Marshmello_Man South Carolina • Liberty 2d ago
600+ yards is a crazy stat 😂. I do agree though that’s only raising the expectation for them so we will see.
•
u/JMS1991 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I'm guessing that 600+ yard game in 2022 was against Tennessee? Lmao. Good times. Vol fans can get fucked.
•
u/nik-nak333 Newberry • South Carolina 2d ago
Fun fact: South Carolina holds the record for points scored against UT in the modern era(over 100 years since someone scored more against them)
•
u/Marshmello_Man South Carolina • Liberty 2d ago
I was literally just thinking about that game! Like remember we ran out of fireworks that was literally a historic game that I don’t think I will ever forget. Wish I was there in person but I remember watching it at home!
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Biggest margin of victory by an unranked team against a top 10, iirc. Next week, we accomplished back- to- back wins over top-10 teams ever. Amazing what happens with future period everywhere if you simplify, leave your playmakers in and just let them cook.

Looked more like the kent st receiver covering our cb than the other way around right there lol

•
u/Marshmello_Man South Carolina • Liberty 2d ago
I actually have to give kudos to Kent State. Columbia heat is like nothing else. For them to come out here and play in this heat like they have when they are not used to it, good for them! This was a complete shutout and I’m a little surprised. I’m happy we worked in the off season in things we lacked last year. Hopefully we continue to improve over the season!

How is Howell #5 on the depth chart? Everyone looks solid tbh but man he’s just never gotten his chance

Shortened fourth quarter for heat? Climate change is ruining college football too
•
u/multiple4 South Carolina • 九州産業大学 (Kyushu … 2d ago
I like how Cutter looks. Knows what routes the WRs are running, knows the timing, and knows where he wants to go with it
•
u/someUSCfan South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
It's amazing what happens when you simplify the playbook to where it doesn't require a damn textbooks worth of knowledge to understand
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Still wonder how '22 could've gone if Satterfield understood this.
•
u/CarolinaSandstorm 2d ago
We were two plays (an all-time screwjob call against LSU and that Harbor Hail Mary against Alabama) away from being 11-1 in 2024. We win at least one, probably two playoff games that year bare minimum
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Loggains did run a significantly simpler offense than Satt that year. Lanorris's game performance is dictated by the confidence he carries on the field. If he went into either of those games with the confidence and swagger he finished the season, both would've been wins. That's the biggest missing variable in '24.
•
u/Carolina296864 Florida Gators • Palmetto Bowl 2d ago
Man. These guys are clearly having fun, on both sides of the ball. Team chemistry looks strong, the talent is performing, there’s no crushing weight of expectations like last year. Yeah i know it’s Kent State, but there’s real optimism for the season now
•
u/someUSCfan South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Last years team would be up 17-10 by this time
•
u/beamerbeliever South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Shula's offense only broke 300 yards once iirc last season. His high water mark at Carolina was 390 against Illinois in the bush game, his first game, in '24.

They're shortening the 4th quarter due to weather
ESPN should be ashamed of themselves for this being a noon kick. Someone should get fired
•
u/someUSCfan South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I'm really loving this playcalling. Getting the ball out quick, simplified blocking schemes and route trees, keeping the tempo moving. It's absolutely night & day different from former Al QueSECda operative Mike Shula.

u/duvie773 South Carolina • Presbyterian 2d ago
Smart to get the backups in so early in this heat and an opponent that’s doing all but waving the white flag
Hate that we have to wait 2 more weeks to get our first real idea of if this offense is legit or not

•
u/elfstone08 Georgia • South Carolina 2d ago
They really should.
•
u/taco_bones South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
yeah, the score alone isn't that bad, but this heat is brutal
•
u/elfstone08 Georgia • South Carolina 2d ago
They're honestly going to have to be careful cooling down too.
•
u/multiple4 South Carolina • 九州産業大学 (Kyushu … 2d ago

•
u/JumboDakotaSmoke South Carolina • Navy 2d ago
They should consider a running clock, especially if we score this series
•
u/JumboDakotaSmoke South Carolina • Navy 2d ago
I can’t blame people for clearing out of WB. The sun feels like I owe it money here in GVL - I can’t imagine how hot it feels in Columbia.
•

u/RockdaleRooster Paper Bag • LSU Tigers 2d ago
I'm just happy to see us take care of an opponent that, on paper, we should take care of.
•
•
u/Tuckboi69 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
They should’ve shortened the game tbh
•
u/AFogmentOfADream South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Kent state isn’t even attempting to play. They want out no get it’s hard but man id be embarrassed to be a player and for coach to intentionally concede every time its third down
•
u/Tuckboi69 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I can’t believe they didn’t go for it on 4th and 2 when the game was only kinda over
•
u/AFogmentOfADream South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
3rd and 8 and they’re running inside zone or screen every other play. That was late 2nd quarter and early 3rd.
•
u/AFogmentOfADream South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Every forward pass is a screen smh. Play football
•
u/wagenejm South Carolina • Palmetto Bowl 2d ago
Uh oh, the Offense is cooked. They only went 75 yards on that last TD drive.
•
•
u/wagenejm South Carolina • Palmetto Bowl 2d ago
My weather app says it's 98 degrees in Columbia right now, and I imagine the stadium is that or hotter.
•
u/duvie773 South Carolina • Presbyterian 2d ago
I saw earlier the real feel was supposed to be like 112°
•
u/CutbowAndArrow South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
The upper bleachers have to be pushing 110. Humidity is also 45%
•

•
u/rokthemonkey Drexel • South Carolina 2d ago
I've seen Shane Beamer teams struggle against worse opponents so I'll take this happily
•
u/TheMrTypical South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I know it’s a smaller opponent but… we were in a low scoring game in this situation last year
•
u/Flapjack_ South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I’m happy we look competent, I think that’s the big thing
•
u/multiple4 South Carolina • 九州産業大学 (Kyushu … 2d ago

You guys think we can score 45+?
•
u/JakeSteeleIII Paper Bag • South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I think we could, but I think we should just run the clock and go home because it’s fucking hot
•
•
u/Socraticshitslinger 2d ago
The offense looks much more coherent this season. I dunno if it’s necessarily a top 25 offense, but I can watch this atleast.
•
u/Tuckboi69 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
If our defense stays as good as it has been under White, a top 25 offense will have us in the national championship conversation.
•
u/Mon221B South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I guess crowd noise won't be a factor in the second half
•

•
u/ugafan2148 Georgia Bulldogs • Sickos 2d ago
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a stadium clear like that at the half lmao.
Makes sense and don’t blame them, WBS is the hottest place on the planet on a normal day.
•
u/clayman41 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
My dad's at the game right now. He's been going to games for decades and he said he's never seen the stadium clear out like today. Heat index of ~110F? Brutal
•
u/DefinitelyNotAGinger South Carolina • The Citadel 2d ago
I remember a few years ago going to a home game in early September, it wasn't this hot but your worst enemy is really just the sun, it is absolutely brutal and I got bad sunburn even with sunscreen on. So I absolutely do not blame the fans and students, and pity the players for sure lol.
•
u/Tuckboi69 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
I don’t blame a soul but the stadium looks like we’re *losing* 29-0
•
u/Sonder_Days South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

u/Hun-_-ter South Carolina • Charlesto… 2d ago
Apparently concessions ran outta water and Powerade by the end on the 1st. Can’t blame them for leaving early when it’s that hot outside today.
•
u/the-walkman8 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago
Running out of water and Powerade in the 1st is unacceptable. The heat is dangerous today.
