A sickos classic. Past 1am in Buffalo, the B team announcers falling asleep towards the end, punts galore that ended in it coming down to the last seconds. Ualbany just couldn’t get out of its own way in the end

Some of the worst mic quality I’ve heard in a while

Everytime they would yell my tv volume would jump up 100. Add in to the fact the scorebug dude fell asleep and just didn’t show what down we were on in the crucial moment at the end there

I don’t think they ever got the play clock on there.

I thought the play clock was optional

This was the funniest part, I was listening for the stadium announcer hoping he would say something.

I noticed the downs being missing a good deal, too. I just figured it was ESPN not caring about it because it was a smaller game

ESPN doesn't run ESPN+ broadcasts. The schools do.

Wait, fr??

For games like this? Yes.

There are hundreds of games on ESPN+.

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 3d ago

Yeah, I figured ESPN was sending out people and equipment to those games, or like had their equipment there on-site and paid some local people for part-time work, running the broadcast

u/NoonTimeHoopsMVP Army Black Knights 3d ago

Nope.

The schools run the operation. There are ESPN standards, but from personal experience, obedience is hit-or-miss.

They had it earlier but it said it was delayed? Fucking lame

Suggesting a field goal to "go up 7" under a minute left when you're down by 4 is maybe one of the funniest things I've heard on a TV broadcast.

I'd love to see a clip of that. I didn't hear it at the time. I had the volume on low

Don’t forget about the score bug taking the night off a bit early

Announcer out here talking about Albany kicking a field goal to take a 7 point lead😂

u/CosmicOtter48 4d ago

that last drive was pure pain to watch ualbany just kept stepping on rakes

Those are the weirdly unforgettable games. Not always pretty, but the chaos, late-night vibes, and close finish are what make college football fun🏈
