A sickos classic. Past 1am in Buffalo, the B team announcers falling asleep towards the end, punts galore that ended in it coming down to the last seconds. Ualbany just couldn’t get out of its own way in the end

Some of the worst mic quality I’ve heard in a while

u/BurgerNugget12 Alabama Crimson Tide 4d ago

Everytime they would yell my tv volume would jump up 100. Add in to the fact the scorebug dude fell asleep and just didn’t show what down we were on in the crucial moment at the end there

u/WillWork4SunDrop Alabama • Kennesaw State 4d ago

I don’t think they ever got the play clock on there.

u/americagigabit Houston Cougars • Michigan Tech Huskies 4d ago

I thought the play clock was optional

u/Ok-Knee6347 UC Davis Aggies 4d ago

This was the funniest part, I was listening for the stadium announcer hoping he would say something.

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 4d ago

I noticed the downs being missing a good deal, too. I just figured it was ESPN not caring about it because it was a smaller game

u/Ok-Knee6347 UC Davis Aggies 4d ago

They had it earlier but it said it was delayed? Fucking lame

ESPN doesn't run ESPN+ broadcasts. The schools do.

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 3d ago

Wait, fr??

u/NoonTimeHoopsMVP Army Black Knights 3d ago

For games like this? Yes.

There are hundreds of games on ESPN+.

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 3d ago

Yeah, I figured ESPN was sending out people and equipment to those games, or like had their equipment there on-site and paid some local people for part-time work, running the broadcast

Suggesting a field goal to "go up 7" under a minute left when you're down by 4 is maybe one of the funniest things I've heard on a TV broadcast.

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 4d ago

I'd love to see a clip of that. I didn't hear it at the time. I had the volume on low

Dude forgot which team was which.

Don’t forget about the score bug taking the night off a bit early

u/Jackandahalfass Georgia • Bowling Green 3d ago

Scorebug union rules. Can’t work past midnight est.

u/Alternative_Copy3401 Alabama Crimson Tide 4d ago

Announcer out here talking about Albany kicking a field goal to take a 7 point lead😂

u/CosmicOtter48 4d ago

that last drive was pure pain to watch ualbany just kept stepping on rakes

u/Eclipsedove34 3d ago

Those are the weirdly unforgettable games. Not always pretty, but the chaos, late-night vibes, and close finish are what make college football fun🏈

u/fhqwhgads_football Carnegie Mellon • Pittsburgh 4d ago

That took forever, ended in a complete blueball, and the production values, like Warren Harding's oratory, were so bad that a kind of grandeur crept into them

10/10, no notes

u/BurgerNugget12 Alabama Crimson Tide 4d ago

It’s genuinely charming in a way watching how B level everything is. True spirit of college football in these mid week late games

Never ask a woman her age, a man his salary, Warren Harding who “Jerry” was?

This is the type shit I come to reddit for

u/DarthNobody14 Texas A&M Aggies 4d ago

Albany was really one yard away from upsetting Buffalo, but then.

A False Start

-3 Yard Jet Sweep

Pass missed an open WR

Throw short of the goaline on 4th and Goal and needing a Touchdown to win.

MAC after dark at its best. Glad I skipped a party and stayed up to watch this instead, and lasted longer than the Announcers.

u/stretchdynamo Maryland Terrapins 4d ago

Egregious playcalling

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 4d ago

I skipped notes, homework, and going to bed early

ALERT: BOTH OF MY TEAMS ARE 1-0

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?

u/NoSxKats South Carolina • Ohio State 4d ago

I imagine that you either lived in Buffalo and live in Colorado now or vice versa but I am choosing to believe you just like the word buffalo

Albany is down 4 points with 1 minute left

Announcer: "it's 4th and goal from the 8... I'd go for a field goal here to go up 7."

u/SoloCapper Syracuse Orange • Buffalo Bulls 4d ago

Gaslit me so hard I thought I misremembered who scored previously.

u/leverich1991 Kansas State Wildcats 4d ago

The announcer was already suffering from sleep deprivation

u/FrenchFreedom888 Oklahoma State Cowboys 4d ago

I've read your comment twice and laughed both times. I'm just imagining him saying that with all seriousness and not catching himself

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 4d ago

He, indeed, was serious and did not catch himself and even doubled down after his partner in the booth tried to politely argue against it twice.

u/Ok_Bug_6890 ECU Pirates 4d ago

Are we sure Buffalo is getting more than 5.5 wins?

u/leverich1991 Kansas State Wildcats 4d ago

I’m not sure I’d bet on over 1.5

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 4d ago

They have Robert Morris for homecoming, but under 2.5 might be possible.

u/MinifridgeTF_ Paper Bag • UAlbany Great Danes 4d ago

classic UA

u/Zloggt Illinois Fighting Illini • Missouri Tigers 4d ago

Bah! We were denied an upset after all that!

u/bwburke94 UMass • Michigan State 4d ago

Albany snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

u/BattleofEppingForest Buffalo Bulls 4d ago

Yay! Go Bulls!

u/TairyGreene716 Buffalo Bulls 4d ago

That's how it's done

u/SolarIonRobot Nebraska Cornhuskers • Merrimack Warriors 3d ago

And how is that exactly?

u/E4439qv5 4d ago

And every inch of the way I know, From UAlbany, to WBuffalo.

u/myworld3 Washington Huskies • LA Bowl 4d ago

I’ve never seen an offense false start at the 1 yard line before. That’s a new way to lose a game.

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 4d ago

That's crazy, I feel like I've seen that a ton of times

u/Asukas13 Notre Dame • Montana 4d ago

Better than having 10 players on defense to lose

u/Comprehensive_Bus_19 UCF Knights • War on I-4 3d ago

Well way to be a fan of a competent team. Must be nice.

Pretty sure Ive seen my team go from 1st and goal from the 1 to end up 4th and goal from the 25 due to penalties.

The 2021 Raiders did it against Baltimore in the season-opening overtime win.

u/DullCartographer7609 Virginia Tech Hokies • Pop-Tarts Bowl 3d ago

Was there a weather delay? I was shocked this was still on after the CU-GT game.

u/LegendParkour Buffalo Bulls • Alabama Crimson Tide 3d ago

2.5 hr weather delay due to lightning and rain. Some parts of the buffalo area (not near the stadium though) experienced flash flooding up to a few feet high.

The game was scheduled to start at 7:00 and kicked off at 9:48 est.

u/Exact_Package_7264 Cornell Big Red 3d ago

why does buffalo always struggle to beat fcs teams lmfao

u/Lucario74 Buffalo Bulls 3d ago

We looked rough and so did the weather, but hey! We won in the end!

Though now I’m concerned for our next 4-ish games.

u/Sea_Sweet_6714 3d ago

Do any of you have video of the announcer thinking it was Buffalo who had the ball with a minute left? Need to send this to several friends.

Oh my lord this game took years off my life
