Taylor looked really good in the first half. He’s a special back if he stays healthy

And if the OLine can improve at all on last year’s effort.
•
u/Infamous-Present-616 Indiana Hoosiers 4d ago
We all knew it was going to happen in the summer. But good shit Minnesota for pulling off the Norway row.
•
u/kisswithaf 4d ago
It's too bad they can't do something original like... playing a super popular song.
•
u/tree-hugger Macalester Scots 4d ago
Vikings borrowed the Icelandic cheer from the Euros, Gophers borrowed the Norwegian cheer from the World Cup.
If you're not going to be original, you might as well borrow the best.

Minnesota is Scandinavian
•
u/Powerful_Mousse Michigan Wolverines 3d ago
I didn’t realize Scandinavia stretched all the way from Northern Europe to the Midwest
•
u/Studs_Not_On_Top 3d ago
The earth is spherical, not a flat map.
•
u/Powerful_Mousse Michigan Wolverines 3d ago
Are we also including Greenland and Canada in Greater Scandinavia while we’re at it?
•
u/Studs_Not_On_Top 3d ago
I mean Greenland is owned by Denmark...
it's hard to get more Scandinavian than that
•

•
u/tomdawg0022 Minnesota • Delaware 3d ago
Eastern Illinois went 3-8 last year in the OVC, with one of its wins against a Pioneer league team.
It's not a good FCS program at all. Belt to ass is exactly what we should do.

32 since you’ll go 16-0 with a big 10 championship and playoff bye!
•
u/codercaleb St. Thomas Tommies 4d ago
13-0 in 1904 with only 2 wins against high schools will be beat this year!

Guys, I don’t think Eastern Illinois is very good at football this year
•
u/nosotros_road_sodium San José State • Michigan 4d ago
Seriously what is going on with that school? Football hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2015. Basketball has sucked forever. Even the school’s PBS station went out of business.
And this is the alma mater of Romo and Garoppolo?
At least EIU is a baseball school nowadays.
•
u/Odd-Temperature7458 4d ago
I dropped out of grad school there after catching my professor not reading my assigned writing. They don't even go there to play school, just get blackout drunk and try crystal meth
•
•
u/NormanQuacks345 Minnesota • North Dakota State 3d ago
The TV station got hit with federal cuts to public broadcasting, taking away a third of their revenue. That’ll do it.
•
u/nosotros_road_sodium San José State • Michigan 3d ago
Similarly, following the defunding of public broadcasting, Penn State is selling its PBS and NPR stations to Philadelphia's public broadcaster.
So that is why football, not Joy of Painting reruns, is a "revenue generator".

u/TinyBearsAreBad Minnesota Golden Gophers • Sickos 4d ago
What are you talking about? They are a very good team and we still thumped them, that's a strong start to our CFP resume

•
u/Indystbn11 Oregon Ducks • Colorado State Rams 4d ago
You guys were my B1G team before the move because I live in Iowa and I hate their fans.
•
u/FlannelBeard Minnesota • Paul Bunyan's Axe 4d ago
Well that's a pretty lovable phrase that I agree with

Kinda implied, EIU was a 3-9 FCS team last year.

About what you'd expect from a Big Ten vs OVC matchup, still nice to see the backups get some real reps in the 2nd half

Did what they were supposed to do, next week we'll see what we've really got!
•
u/Rabidschnautzu Toledo Rockets • Ohio State Buckeyes 4d ago
Just a reminder that Minnisota does not play Oregon or Ohio State. Could be a sneaky team this year.
•
u/dwors025 Minnesota • Paul Bunyan's Axe 4d ago
I’m also glad to not see USC or Illinois.
But we also don’t get MSU, Rutgers, or Maryland.
Every B1G game is a conceivable win; and every B1G game is a conceivable loss. Even @Purdue.
Eastern Illinois is one thing, but I think Mississippi State next week will tell us a lot, IMO.
•
u/LrkerXtrovrt Indiana Hoosiers 3d ago
You will not lose to the Boilers
•
u/dwors025 Minnesota • Paul Bunyan's Axe 3d ago
Your words. Not mine.
We love an inexplicable loss in these parts.

•
u/Frequent-Case4214 3d ago
Our schedule could also end up being very tough when it's looked at the end of the year too. Washington, Indiana (obv), PSU, Iowa, Michigan could all end up being very good squads. But yea I'm glad to not play Oregon or OSU because those teams usually bully us.
•
u/MakeStuffGoBoom Mississippi State • Tennessee 4d ago
Should be a fun game next week
•
u/AntitheistArchangel Butler Bulldogs 4d ago
I think Mississippi State and Minnesota could both be better than people expect. They both have their best QBs in some time and very good RBs.
•
u/Fryboy11 Minnesota Golden Gophers • Marching Band 3d ago
I hope it’s gonna be a slugfest. Obviously I’d prefer we win. But as long as the game is close, hard fought in the trenches, with the occasional long bombs down field I’ll be happy even if we lose with an Iowa score like 3-2. Show we can both fight for 60 minutes and be dark horse contenders in our conferences, and praying no severe injuries.
•
u/cbi8 Mississippi State Bulldogs 3d ago
3-2 would end me (see 2008 Mississippi State/Auburn)
•
u/frosty_freeze Mississippi State • Oklahoma 3d ago
Yep. I was on board with the comment until I saw that score.
•
u/Fryboy11 Minnesota Golden Gophers • Marching Band 1d ago
But I was giving you guys the win 3-2. Partially to try and heal that memory.

I believe Eastern Illinois is just a long way to say Indiana. We beat Indiana! Our turn in 2026 it turns out, 15-0 here we come.
•
u/tree-hugger Macalester Scots 4d ago
They're presumably close to Indiana geographically, I won't be checking this

walked in, whooped ass. not much more you can ask for. row the boat ski u mah go gophers!!!
•

We did the easy things right. And with the Gophers that’s not guaranteed. Team looks well coached and ready.

•
u/dinkytown42069 Minnesota • Oklahoma 4d ago
I cried tears of genuine joy that we have functional special teams.
We had not had a punt or kick return TD since 2018.

Drake looked good too. I'm quite excited to see him next week vs the Bulldogs. A triple header B1G-SEC lineup next week is gonna be 🔥

•
u/AntitheistArchangel Butler Bulldogs 4d ago
How did Lindsey look?
•
u/No_Angle_8106 Arizona State • Michigan 4d ago
Like anyone would against eastern Illinois, he blew a couple of third downs early though so I’m going to shit post. Darius Taylor had more of my eye and they didn’t exactly scheme him open
•
u/dinkytown42069 Minnesota • Oklahoma 4d ago

I know it was HS so it doesn't really matter, but that Ryan Estrada kid we got at RB (freshman) had like a 12ypc average his senior year of high school, lol. At my HS we used to run the ol' Wishbone, so it would be like 3-4 yds a pop and go for it on 4th down if need be.

•
u/irishfanbcs 3d ago
I liked seeing some of the Goohers wearing black cleats. Especially D. Taylor with the white laces and white socks. Does USC still do that? Very popular in the early 2000's.

2 return TDs by Tracy is pretty insane. Had a great night.
