"So there's a serial killer on Saint-Pierre.. helluva way to start a week"
So sick of hearing the same TV promos on CBC radio, over and over again.
Also, that's the lamest line possible. Who reacts to serial murder that way? If that's the best line they can pluck from the show, I'm glad I don't watch TV.
"We're partners - if you go down, I go down. That's the way it works. Trust me."
"I'm nothing if not <squeaky> profesh! </squeaky>"
"Why do I get the feeling we've seen this before?"
"Because..<dramatic pause> We have!" đ€Ł

CBC just hasnât been what it used to be before Harper did his best to destroy it IMO.

I find it mildly amusing the way their streaming app and website start falling apart on Friday night, and are pretty much a hot mess by Monday morning when they come back to work and patch it back together.

The news app for the last two days kept informing me I had no Internet which wasnât the case. Eventually I logged into my account and magic! I have Internet - thanks for the fix đ€Ł
Iâve been noticing for a while now, many mistakes that are typos, poor grammar etc in the written articles - I guess editors are no longer required in this fâed up era of journalism.

Restore some of the CBCâs funding and they wouldnât have to repeat their content much as they do.
CBC had world class production facilities on Front St in Toronto, and produced content that employed Canadians and was sold around the world. But conservatives are convinced we canât have nice things and the CBC were forced to sell them off due to budget cuts.

I often wonder why they don't recycle some of the classics - edgy comedy like The Irrelevant Show or classic Ideas episodes - in a 1 hour time slot somewhere. Heaven knows there's enough pablum to cut (nobody would miss Now or Never).
The cynic in me say it's because they don't want to show how far they've fallen.

They did that in the early 2000âs with âRichardsonâs Roundupâ, an early afternoon program hosted by Bill Richardson, who took over the time slot from Vicky Gabereau.

it's a good laugh - based on the scripts, Saint Pierre must be the. most murderous, crime-ridden spot on the continent. Amazing police dept and tech for such a small pop, though. đ€Ł

So I was talking today to a guy at my library about this. He's always looking for new DVDs, particularly British shows, recently he's been watching a lot of Australian, NZ, and Nordic stuff as well.
I commented, why is it Canada can't make good shows like those? If we just compared with the US or UK we could say population and wealth. But that doesn't apply so much to those other places.
It seems like our stuff just turns out hokey and jokey most of the time. There was that Louise Penney one recently that was meant to be serious, but I found the script terrible - it leaned way too hard into very formulaic and predictable social justice stuff and much like the OP examples, some of the lines were just cringy .
I can't understand why we cannot produce good tv.

Thank you. I thought it was just me.
I guess it's intended as a public service announcement/warning to stay away, but I don't want to hear " nothing if not profesh" ever again as long as I live. CBC, if you're reading this please give it a rest.
