HIRING Looking for someone who can clean

Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m newish to Austin and since moving hear I have struggled a lot with keeping my apartment as clean as I would like. It’s mostly pet hair that’s the issue. I have a husky who sheds more than any other animal I have ever seen in my life and I can’t get it out of couch, my clothes, or my blankets. So I’m looking for someone who has experience dealing with this and can help me get my apartment back on track. I would be open to keeping it a regular thing like once every 1-2 weeks. I have proper cleaning stuff like a vacuum, a blower for his hair, that kind of thing, and anything that is needed I’ll ofc provide. I don’t know how much a job like this would be but I can pay cash or any cash app or whatever other form of payment you need.

I don’t know if this is needed but I’m 26 male and I live in an apartment in south west Austin. Please message me I’m in desperate need of help.

QUESTION Austin’s Worst places to work

Upvotes

What’s the worst company you have worked for in Austin?

I’ll start. One of the WORST places I’ve ever worked at is Terry Blacks. Not the original blacks… they’re just bottom of the barrel.

If you ever want to work at a place where they will work you to almost the brink of death, apply at Terry blacks bbq. They are the epitome of a good old boys club, misogynist and racist. You ever seen a black person, trans/LGBTQ, female employee or manager? They don’t hire them. God forbid they find out you’re gay.

They only hire mexicans to help them run the kitchen. If you saw the rat video, that’s just what was caught on camera. There are more you haven’t seen. I have an inside source that worked there. If you are a douche bag, you will be promoted. They hire people and fire them just as fast. I feel sorry for the good employees they have fired off or that are still working at minimum wage. For as many millions as the company makes, that’s right, MILLIONS, they still pay $7.25 an hour.

FOR HIRE Best jobs?

Upvotes

Hi! Does anyone here in Austin genuinely enjoy their job or workplace? I’m currently working in an insurance call center, and if I’m being honest, it’s not a good fit for me. I’m hoping to find something new before open enrollment begins in November.

I have experience working at a healthcare front desk and feel very comfortable helping patients, managing appointments, handling administrative tasks, and providing customer service. I’m especially interested in healthcare front desk, patient services, administrative, or similar people-focused roles.

If your workplace is hiring or you know of a company with a positive environment, I would really appreciate any recommendations!

FOR HIRE Calling all Austin MSW’s!

Upvotes

[For Hire / Seeking Field Placement]

Long story short, I recently started my MSW program at a transfer school, and due to some scheduling complications, I’m now looking for a field placement in the Austin area as soon as possible.

I’m able to begin immediately (or as soon as a site is available).
I started classes a few weeks ago but I’m unable to take more classes until I’m placed, so I’m trying to avoid having to wait too long.

Most of the organizations I’ve contacted that accept MSW interns have already filled their placements for this semester and won’t be accepting students again until the spring. I’m hoping there may be an organization, social worker, or agency in the Austin area that has an opening, or someone here who can point me in a promising direction. 🤞

I’m especially interested in children and families, mental health/counseling, trauma, relationships/marriage and family work, and community or government-based services, but I’m very open to other opportunities that meet MSW field requirements.

If you’re an Austin-area social worker, know of an organization that might have availability, or have a connection I could reach out to, I’d be incredibly grateful for a lead. Feel free to comment or DM me! Can send resume and references!

FOR HIRE Hoping to Find a Job (South Austin)!

Upvotes

I am a 25 year old college student who just moved to South Austin and I’m needing to find a job paying at least $18/hr. I worked the To-Go area of a restaurant for the past six years. I was hired on at a small used car dealership as a salesman for about a week before they shut it down. I don’t mind going back into that industry if I’m able to be trained. I can also try a server/bartender job at a smaller establishment where I’m able to be trained as well.

I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs and all of my applications are going through AI filters that automatically deny them. I’ve tried HEB, Walmart, Whole Foods, various retail companies, farm work, used car lots, thrift stores, hotel front desk/housekeeping, the airport, repo companies, clubs, etc. I’m willing to learn just about anything. I don’t have a degree yet, but I am a college student who is in class M/W from 8am-4pm and T/Th from 10am-1230pm.

The closer I am to W Slaughter Lane the better, but I’d be willing to drive a bit further for the right job/pay.

Anyone with suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

FOR HIRE Any mechanics hiring?

Upvotes

I’m gonna be honest I don’t have any official training. I grew up doing mechanics work on my cars and trucks with my dad and brothers but nothing official.

Done construction so I’m familiar around tools. I’ve been in sales for quite a few years, making pretty good money, but it’s just not rewarding. I don’t like being on my ass all the time. The only time I ever feel like I enjoy what I’m doing is when I’m working on a car and get it up and running.

FOR HIRE Nonbinary and seeking employment.

Wondering if anyone knows of any Queer Friendly part time jobs in the Austin/Round Rock area that don't require weekends? I've been on hrt for like 7 years so it's kinda hard to be closeted.I keep my appearance professional and such of course. Just kind of androgynous in a way that requires a queer friendly environment. I also have a small business so I'm busy on the weekends with markets and such. I have some non profit experience, and I'm currently working an office job Monday-Friday but there's issues with which bathrooms I can use and it's just generally been a very negative and even hostile work environment.

Is there any hope for me? Am I relegated to coffee shops and vape stores?

They’ll be looking to apply for a teaching assistant job having got 2 years experience working in a school, an access to HE qualification and 1.5 years at university. FOR HIRE Fixing your broken stuff

Upvotes

Anyone got stuff need looked at?

Recently lost my job to a shady business that put me in dire straights it was a horrible experience Ive had since being in Austin.

I made a post about it, but you can find it on my profile if you want the whole story.

So in the meantime I'm offering my services to anyone who needs it while I search for work.

If you have appliances (washers/dryers/fridges and stoves)

That need repairs, Id be willing to do it for cheap. Id even be willing to show you how to do it if you want to learn- and I'll show the prices of parts directly so you don't feel cheated.

No markup for prices on parts, just labor would be all I'd charge.

I can also work on water filtration, and irrigation repairs as needed or even just generally assembly/install.

If anyone in the Austin area has stuff needs doing/fixing. Feel free to dm as I'm desperate at the moment while I look for work.
