I had people recognize my username over several points because I just kept thinking, "Surely the next match will be better!"
At one point, the enemy team asked me if I had eaten or drunk anything like 16 hours in. I asked if sugar free white monster counted, I had finished my third that day.
I really questioned my life choices when the enemy team and my team collectively tried to stage a intervention.
I still kept playing until servers went down.

I am severely mentally ill, hence being a Marvel Rivals player. Last point it was manageable was about a hour before servers went down.
100 points to a rank, average of 20sr gained or lost per 20m game.
It was mostly delusion that kept me going after that. "Ive hit grandmaster 3 times before, surely I can do it again!"
NOPE.
To be fair though, I hit gm the next season with a 75% win rate one tricking Jeff, so possibly was just bad luck.

In quickplay we know that after losing at least two games in a row the system will put you in a bot match, it’s not 100% of the time but happens consistently enough to be noticeable.
In ranked it definitely feels like there’s a system in place that monitors your win/loss ratio, keeps a tab on how likely you are to keep playing when you encounters either and plugs you into matches accordingly. I.E: it knows you’ll keep playing when on a losing streak chasing that win so it’ll put you against stacked teams until finally giving you that one win to make you keep going.
There’s no definitive proof it’s in the game apart from we know Netease has done studies into how a system like this would work and subjective player experiences to go off.

It's not even a conspiracy, the devs are pretty open about it. They do engagement-based matchmaking. There's a whole investor presentation where they talk about the system on YouTube.

Best decision apart from quitting entirely from competitive games, was quitting for the day after losing three games in a row.
No matter how long or short you have played before or how long of a streak you have had. Just go offline, step outside and calm down. Because deep down you are agitated even though your brain tells you otherwise.

I normally would do two losses into a 30 minute break.
This was pure desperation fueled delusion. I wanted the grandmaster crest for that season, it was the last day to get it. People were less toxic about me being a girl when they saw the crest, the more recent the better. I mostly play QP, it was surprising how much of a difference it made.
I have not repeated it since, I learned my lesson.

I mostly play QP, and people are meaner in comp. I got targeted by my own teammates often for being a girl, one tricking heroes despite having great winrates, or for specifically one tricking heroes people hated because they were easier from going blind. (Witch and Jeff).
Like I peaked rank 20 globally on witch specific leaderboards. Ended top 500 on multiple hero leaderboards 4+ times. I wasnt bad, but I would have my team throw before we left hero select because I locked Wanda or Jeff.
That specific play session, about 25% of the 50+ games were people throwing either in general or specifically because they didnt like me.
I wasnt toxic. I said "glhf, have a good (insert time of day/night)" every single match. I peeled for my healers, said thank you for the tanking and healing after every match.
People are just toxic sometimes lmao. I actually quit the game entirely after I got hit by a hate wave on youtube during the Play For Vibes incident, literally just for being a visible girl playing the game. After moderating 300+ hate comments in 2 weeks plus all the hate in game, I just got turned off the game entirely.
I only play OW now lmao.

Genuinely, yes. The moderation is better, plus less outright hate. For example, I say the same glhf message every match in both games. I only get death threats in like 30% at most in my OW matches compared to 50-75% in Rivals.
I do not recommend the game to people anymore because the community sucks so bad.

OW is definitely the way. While you won’t completely avoid toxicity it’s still night and day compared to rivals and similar PvP games (in my experience), the community is just way more welcoming. It’s also just so much more polished and balanced. I was really hoping Rivals would listen to feedback and make significant changes to improve the game but I realized over time this just wasn’t happening at a meaningful enough rate for me so I likewise ended up dropping it.

In GT 4 for PS2, you could sim it at 3x speed but it was still an 8 hour affair to Sim the 24 hour race. you couldn't save part way through. When I did it, my roommates and I left it going and took turns monitoring it. You couldn't just totally leave it because you'd have to do pit stops. whenever that game did pit stops, it reverted from "Sim" mode to normal gameplay mode, so you have to start up from pit stop and put it back into the "Sim" mode.

They recently reintroduced a few 24 hour races in Gran Turismo 7 and yeah you can pause them and turn off the console but while it’s paused you can’t play the rest of the game, basically.

Bioshock - straight through, from start (4 pm?) on release day to 6am the next.
Rock Band 2 - Endless Setlist 2 on Expert with a friend. 5.5(?) hrs, but felt like an eternity because we were going for the Bladder of Steel Award (no pauses, no failing)
Halo: Reach - buddy wanted to play it straight through, no breaks, on Legendary, while also going for all level-specific Achievements along the way. Easily 12+ hrs

I led a 40ish person tribe when early access ended and the full game launched. We ended up joining a server that had two even bigger tribes. Eventually war came around, and we had staged watches to make sure we didn’t get offlined by them. They tried, and attacked at like 1am. The sentry called me and I was able to rally like 8 of us to defend. Played all through the night till 8am when I had to go to work. The tribe fought them off and destroyed their FOB after probably 12ish hours. But some randoms from another big tribe who we were pulling in to help defend ended up getting admin privileges and kicked everyone but me from the tribe, and foundation wiped our whole base, dropped all our stuff on the ground, and killed all our tames. That was a shitty way to go, would have been okay with losing it all in the actual war.

Elder Scrolls Online. I think I only stopped to sleep. I looked like Waynetta slob by the end, and lived on tubs of ice cream. I was made redundant from a company that had to shut down after a couple of silly financial choices. I spent the first month securing a job before my money stopped coming in and then spent the next month sitting on my couch playing Skyrim. It was bloody wonderful.

I did this too. The mixed DMs I was getting upon hitting 100 was hilarious. Leveling wasn't even that long in warlords and if you got through a choke point and didn't get chain dc'd you just rocketed ahead, especially in gorgrond.
Getting called a no life, my guild being used to slander me, and a few legitimate congrats. Was a fun night.

36 hours on path of exile on last league launch. I had woke up 5 hours prior to the league as well and and only slept 5 hours the night before. Ive been a giga “no lifer” my entire life but I had never done anything like that before (I’m 32), but it was honestly so fucking fun and I have zero regrets lol. I want to try to do it again next league rofl. It’s also worth noting, that I had zero intention of even doing that to begin with, I just kind of kept deciding “meh, I’m not really that tired and I wanna keep grinding”, over and over again lol.

I spent 2 years waiting for half life 2 and then I beat it in a single 11 hour sitting and basically got mad at myself for blowing all of that in a day.
Half life 1 took me 2 weeks when it first came out so I thought there was going to be a lot more time needed to beat half life 2. Apparently I got a lot better at games between half life 1 and 2.

Me and the guys during COVID did a Zombie stream
There's 10 guys, , 4 games. World af war through Black Ops 3.
Goal, last as long as you can, the 2 worst players gets swapped. We had 2 runs going.8 players, 2 flex
I ended up playing from Nact to DIE RISE (BO2) before I got swapped. My brain was mush. We average 25levels per each map. Die rise I barely lasted 14 without just falling asleep.
I think we lasted 19hours, give or take

When Borderlands 2 was hot, there were often Fridays I would come home after a morning shift and start gaming at around noon or 1pm. I don’t know if I would even get up to eat but eventually it would be midnight, 1am and I would have gamed for about 12 hours.

After a three month crunch at work, I played Civ 5 from the time I got up until well past midnight, and only got up to get water or use the bathroom. When I stopped, it was 2 am, I was famished and had to drive to a nearby university town to find somewhere open to eat.
That was probably the only time I ever went longer than maybe 4-5 hours.
