Life How do you make big decisions at a young age?
I’m 25yo, and I’ve been working since i was 21 after doing my bachelors degree.
I’ve always had a goal of having an international career and earlier this year I received an offer to join a company in Luxembourg. I declined.
However recently they called me saying there’s a new opportunity and that they really liked me and would love to have me there.
The thing is, I’m really afraid to go. I’ve been the last 4 years in the same company where I’ve grown a lot and where the partners really like me. I know i can grow there. However i still live in my parents house.
Accepting the offer would allow me to have the international career, have my own independence, and I would earn more.
But this is really scary, and the fact that’s scary is why I think should do it.
This is a big decision in my life. This is the first time i feel like my life is in my control and that will impact my future.
Everyone says that i should but it’s so scary to leave everything and go while i have a good job

DO IT!
Sounds like you have a good relationship with your parents, so even if it all goes sideways you can just head home for a reset.
It is the opportunities I didn’t go for that I regret, not the chances it took that didn’t work out.

This is the perfect advice. As a 40 year old man I really wish I have worked and lived overseas in my younger years, as now I’m married and own a home and it’s just a lot more difficult once you’re established.

But it’s so scary. You don’t find good jobs easily, and I have one where they really value me. It’s scary leaving something good to something uncertain.
Deep down I want to go, to explore, to get out of my comfort zone and to grow. But there’s another part of me that likes the safety.
I know that if I go I’ll grow a lot and I feel like that matters more than everything

It does mate.
What you will learn about the world, about yourself, will be worth more than money. You will likely find something even better than what you have now.

When you're young you can afford to make mistakes and still correct
And I doubt it'll be a mistake anyway. Go for it

I'd be making it factual. Write down what they are offering and compare against what you currently get. Don't forget to include things like rent and food that you may or may not be paying with the parents. That's just the financials. If it feels like a viable option with all that factored in you should then consider the lifestyle factor. Are you in the US at the moment? Have you ever travelled outside of the US? Europe is really fun and culturally is a whole different world for you to experience. You won't be young and unattached forever. Life is meant to be lived. Get out there. That's just me.

I live in Portugal. I’ve done the pros and the cons. Any option is good. But I feel like that if i don’t go im choosing based on fear rather on what i dream

It's a big move. There's nothing wrong with feeling nervous about it. Don't let it hold you back but. You're talking dreams. Get after it!

You’re approaching things the right way.
Have a vague idea of the destination, but don’t be too attached to the trajectory.
Focus on what’s in front of you. If there is a choice between comfort and growth, always choose growth. It may be scary, there will be setbacks. You should do it anyway.
The worst thing in the world, isn’t the mistakes you make (and you will make them from time to time), but the regrets you may accrue from inaction.
Choose personal growth, always. So, do it. Take the job. It’s not often in life that things align so perfectly.

Have faith in yourself homie. You are 25 now. This is when your dominance over your life starts to snowball :)

I looked at my long term goal and made the choice that was aligned with it.

What are you more afraid of. Going and failing? Or not going and never knowing?

There’s also a possibility of doing a secondment with my own firm but that’s gonna take at least one year to start.

That's a lot of changes all at once. TBH, I think if you've never lived away from you that you'll struggle with that much of an adjustment.
