I’m planning a 14-day trip to Georgia and Armenia with my wife, travelling from India. We’re planning to rent a car and potentially drive between Georgia and Armenia.

A little background: I’m 45 years old and have travelled to 35+ countries. We also currently hold valid US, Canada and Schengen visas and have travelled internationally several times.

My main question is about entry and immigration, particularly as Indian passport holders.

I’ve read quite a few posts mentioning that immigration at Georgia can sometimes be strict or people can face questioning/refusal at the border, and I wanted to understand how much of an issue this actually is and is driving okay ?

I spent 5 days in Tbilisi as a tourist and I was honestly a little surprised by how little interaction I had with people.

I’m a very friendly person and I smile a lot, so I usually try to make eye contact, smile, say hello, etc. But I noticed that kiosk owners, McDonald’s employees, people working in shops, and even random people in public generally seemed quite serious or even somewhat bitter. I rarely got a smile back or any kind of small interaction. Instead i get often "the resting bitch face"

My fiancée and I plan to visit late September to hike in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti mkhare to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (and when we come back from Sakartvelo we're getting married!). I would very much appreciate advice from locals on weather, trails, and general tips you think we should know before.

Here is the plan:

We're renting a car (Subaru Forester) out of Tbilisi and heading straight up to Stepantsminda.

Day 1 - Leave Tbilisi by car, arrive in Stepantsminda, hike up to Gergeti Trinity Church and if there is time visit Gveleti waterfalls.

Day 2 - Drive to Juta and do the hike to Chaukhi pass. I heard the road to Juta village is closed and we should leave the car by a barricade?

Day 3 - Rest and then drive to Gudauri. Stay there and chill. Maybe some activites in tthe area (paraglide, horse riding etc).

Day 4 - Hike Gudauri-Khada valley - I have not found much information about this trail, would also appreciate advice.

Day 5 - Rest and drive to Mtskheta, staying there and exploring the town.

Day 6 - Drive to Roshka and hike up to see the Abudelauri lakes. We're not doing Chaukhi pass because that may be too advanced for now which is why I want to do both sides (Juta to Chaukhi base, Roshka to Abudelauri lakes). Weather? Tips?

Day 6-8 - Back to Tbilisi, leave the car and explore the city. Would appreciate restaurant recommendations and activities.

I want to travel to Georgia this October for about 10 Days from New Delhi but current flight tickets are too expensive at this route, maybe due to limited flights, So should I postpone it further down the year or do it as there is less hope to end all this. What is your suggestion?

Hi Everyone, I need some helpful insights from the locals here.

Me and my girlfriend is traveling to Tbilisi this December and I wanted to surprise her with a Romantic Dinner, I was looking at some spots around Mother of Georgia monument as I was specifically looking for a place high up with a nice view. Are there any places you guys would recommend for an English speaking couple? I'm open to suggestions.

Furthermore, she wanted us to do a cooking class to learn how to make authentic Khachapuri from a Georgian nonna (those were her exact words 😁). I've looked around Airbnb and Trip Advisor and so many other websites. My concern is that the listings have so many mixed reviews specifically about some of the items being pre-made and they were just there to assemble and bake which I know she will not enjoy as she's a chef and would definitely appreciate making everything from scratch. Do you guys have any insights about this as well? Or is that the norm.

Hi everyone! My fiancée and I are getting married in Tbilisi this October, and we'll have about 10 friends and family flying in from around the world.

We've read that we need travel health insurance covering the stay before entering the country, but I'm finding it hard to tell which providers are legit and which are just cheap PDFs that won't hold up at the border or actually pay out if someone needs a doctor.

A few questions for people who've done this:

• Where do you normally buy it - a Georgian insurer, an international one, or does it not matter as long as the coverage amount is right?
• Is there a minimum coverage figure or specific wording border officials look for?
• Has anyone actually been asked to show the policy on arrival, or is it more of a paper requirement?
• Any providers to avoid? I'd rather pay a bit more than hand over card details to something sketchy.

I am thinking of visiting Georgia last week of September first week of October and i need your help. I have almost no experience traveling. I like hiking, nature, sight seeing, and experncing local cultures. Can you help me with the below.

* What is the average cost for (local ​meals, hostel or 3 star hotels.

* Best places/cities to visit.

* The ease of transportation from one place/one city to the other

* Is there any groups or websites where I can meet other travelers.

With all of the social problems this brings (at best rent price increases and at worst justification to "protect ethnic Russians"), why isnt more being done to stop this?

Hell, there is probably not a better time to make moves on South Ossetia or Abkhazia for that matter with Russia struggling in Ukraine.

I heard that a lot of Georgians now do not like when you speak Russian language with them.
I am completely fine to use English because as a tourist I don’t know Georgian language. Or Russian language is also acceptable?

I'm going hiking with my my friend in december and we're not exactly the most experienced hikers, so I would rather not go anywhere too dangerous. Any tips where we could go near Tbilisi? We do both own appropriate clothing so that's not a concern. Additionally any advice is welcome :)

We spontaneously decided to move to Georgia next month after spending some time in Asia.
We are looking for a house outside of Tbilisi, not to far away.

But where can we find houses that are up for rent? On Facebook we mainly see apartments for rent in the city, but we already spent to months near the Center and it’s a bit to much for us for the everyday life.

What are rent prices for a normal house? We really don’t need something luxurious. A clean and well build house would be more than enough for us.

I am in middle of a process of applying for Georgia visa as an Indian and had to upload some additional documents like flight tickets, stay, salary slip, travel insurance etc.

Now, it says that they only accept Jpeg and PNG files and we can only upload 10 documents. How do I upload documents?

I'm blessed to know the sweetest Georgian implants in my time of need, but it's not without it's friction points. I'm told it's a point if cultural friction and I'm trying to figure out how to navigate it.

The first is that my actions spur their actions. Which sounds fine, except it's like... They only start to cook or clean the kitchen if I'm about to cook, so I forgo kitchen access for a good 20-60 minutes. This would be fine and all except I have a very tight schedule (diabetes, need to eat at certain times, or make food work between tight scheduling). Originally I thought "oh our schedules are in sync, I'll shift mine the hour later" and then low and behold they don't need the kitchen STILL until I'm about to use it, every time. It's the same for the shower, tending to the plants, laundry, cleaning. It's driving me a bit crazy and also harming my health atp. I'm happy to work around them! I know I'm the imposition! But I feel I shouldn't have to pretend to go to do something an hour before I'm actually able to do it (not that I always have the time for that either).

The second is this "no means no and yes means no" thing, with the caveot that they seem to think I think they're evil if I respect a boundary. I'm getting skittish to accept offers and trust them to follow through. Supposedly it was super clear when the "yes" was actually a "no" or when am offer was only made out of politeness and isn't real and it's a Georgian thing, but I am autistic and I can't figure out this rule! I am trying!

The third is that there seems to be no understanding of allergies. Like if an item has peanut oil in the ingredients list, they'll swear up and down it's nut free and If I have a reaction they're all "well it's only a tiny bit and it's only one of many ingredients in an item in an even larger dish" and they just do not seem to understand how allergies work 😭 they're all careful until I recover, and then they seem to think I am fully cured of the allergy. I don't accept food from them anymore and I also wait for them to stop hovering before I cook (they have this need to hover and help??) anymore because their little secret additions are delicious, and lethal.

I dunno m8, I'm so so so grateful for their help while I really need it- no one else is stepping up for me RN. But if this is truly a Georgian thing like I'm told by them and two neutral parties who are also from the south, I need a translator and solutions stat 🤣

Sat 17th: Kazbegi (mountains) stay overnight in homestay

Sun 18th: Kazbegi (mountains) maybe horse ride/trek - stay overnight homestay

Mon 19th: Drive to Sighnaghi arrive PM - stay overnight

Tues 20th: Day in Signaghi - Stay overnight

Weds 21st: Day in Signaghi - Stay overnight

I plan to travel to Georgia this September, and wanna propose to my girlfriend in Kazbegi, on 29th Sep.
