You could actually call that a kind act (for the times)… as the state of Georgia was about to genocide the Cherokee over gold in northern Georgia. It instructed the government to have treaties with the tribes, with the idea that Oklahoma would be the safe haven for the native tribes. Jackson saw it as an act of mercy, not cruelty. Placing it in the lens of the 21st century distorts this. He fought shoulder to shoulder with the Cherokee against the British aligned Creek. Jackson even paid enslaved and free blacks the same as whites in his defense of New Orleans.
Popular narrative collides with history quite a bit over Jackson. He never ignored the Supreme Court (a charge from his enemies, the federal government wasn’t instructed to do anything by the court in Worcester v. Georgia), in fact the alleged quote was only reported long after his death. It’s also worth noting that the Nullification Crisis began all of 18 days after the judgment. Just because trump likes Jackson is the reason Reddit hates Jackson. In reality he was deeply complicated man, in a deeply complicated political environment.
Jackson was however cruel to the British (whom he rightfully hated due to the way he was treated as a POW) and to their native allies who he saw as traitors.

This is the first time I've heard of Trump's like for Jackson. That's an irrelevant point to many people's understanding of Andrew Jackson, I think. He was sometimes a cruel man regardless of the current administration. He was one of the only people to pay for the whipping of fugitive slaves. He had his wife's maid whipped for cleaning another family's clothing. Sure, he sided with the Cherokee against the Creek, and then his soldiers and the Cherokee brutally murdered the Creek. But also yes, the Removal Act is complex. Jackson most certainly saw it as a mercy to prevent more death/problems. Perhaps it could have been enacted better, but the 1830s (like most of history) is a harsh time. Willing people headed out West also suffered greatly, and that was free will. Let's not infer though, that someone like Jackson wasn't cruel (at least vs contemporaries like JQA).

hated in Argentina for ordering the pillaging of the garrison in the Malvinas (Falklands) Islands accusing them of being pirates for trying to defend their own shores. Eventually leading to the loss of the islands.

I might actually point to Andrew Johnson, who looked at the bloodiest war in American history as a way to snub the planter class who had snubbed him in the past, and as long as they apologized to him personally they could go back to torturing and terrorizing black people in the South.

I know everyone wants to throw Jackson in, and for sure he was a piece of shit.
I think people lose track of the fact that Trump is a rapist, child rapist and selfish narcissist. This dude doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He’s supporting the Israeli genocide and if he were in charge when Jackson was I’m sure it would’ve ended even worse.
That said it seems like Jackson will win and I’m not terribly broken up about it.

Yeah this is another one that Trump deserves to win. Bombing fishermen, helping ramp up the Gaza genocide, sending immigrants to CECOT, ending Haitian tps and sending immigrants back to a war zone.
Yes trail of tears was an ethnic cleansing and a genocidal act, but Trump is crueler.

History Major here. Andrew Jackson. He created the Trail of Tears via the Indian Removal Act of 1830, the name for the forced relocation of indigenous tribes by the American government from the US southeast to Oklahoma.
15,000+ people died from starvation, exhaustion and disease along the trail. Much worse than what The Oregon Trail was.

Gonna go against the crowd here and say Richard Nixon.
-Sabotaged the Vietnam war peace talks, dooming thousands of American GIs and Vietnamese people to death in 6 more years of war. This is not just a theory anymore, Nixon actually did this.
-Developed the southern strategy, a policy designed by Republicans in the late 60’s to use racial bias to get Southern electoral votes. Once again, recent evidence within the last few years has proven this to be fact.
-Dropped millions of tons of ordinance on Laos and Cambodia which in addition to killing people at the time continues to kill people today because of unexploded ordinance.
-Watergate and the political surveillance and scandals. This man was seriously paranoid. Like nuts.
-Madman Theory, Nixons nuclear doctrine that basically aimed to convince the Soviet Union he was crazy. He had armed nuclear bombers fly near Soviet airspace for days on end just to prove his point. This is all well and good except if something had gone wrong and triggered nuclear war
I’m not gonna debate the morals of the Vietnam war in this post but one could argue that Watergate indirectly caused the fall of South Vietnam, as the fallout from it weakened Nixon’s support enough for the War Powers Act to pass, and for Congress to cut war funding. As a result, Vietnamization was half-assed and underfunded, and the ARVN was severely weakened by it. In addition, Nixon promised South Vietnam that he would intervene if the North attacked after the Paris peace accords were signed; but because Nixon got himself impeached, he never backed up that promise. Basically, Nixon elongated a conflict that could have ended, spent millions of dollars and lives fighting said war, and then botched his own strategy by creating a scandal that was entirely avoidable and getting himself sacked. The fate of an entire country (Vietnam) and the lives of thousands of people were damaged because of his pride and ego.

Dronebama. Not only did he pioneer the heinous "double tap" strategy where you bomb (alleged) fighters and then do a second strike against those first responders (often civilians).
He also served as a pressure valve to stiffle genuine left wing momentum (which is hopefully coming home to roost this election cycle).

Guns rights are being protected, woke culture came to a dramatic yet justified halt, fake news is lowering, cities are becoming safer, taxes and gas prices are going down, we stopped catering to other countries without our fair share in return, America is getting healthier, its becoming extremely more easy to find red flags in people, religious liberty is being strengthened, and annoying people are finally being told to shut up and they are staying quiet finally.
