Local electroplating?

Looking for someone nearby to re-plate the 3" diameter silver cover of an antique candy jar of my grandmother's. Plating is very thin, I think the cover itself is tin. Getting ridiculous pricing on the web. Thx.

Would you be open to diy?

For budget options many people choose diy electroplating since the process itself is extremely well documented and fairly simple for even beginners to novice diy'ers

You can do it yourself. You just need an acid that can dissolve silver, a battery or DC power supply, and a sacrificial piece of silver

Google says 2-3V should do it for the battery. Any more and the silver will tarnish. Standard AAA, AA, C, and D batteries are 1.5V. Two in series will give you 3V. And nitric acid (aqua regia) will work for the acid.
