APUSH APUSH VOCAB QUIZ procasination

Hey everyone, I have a vocab quiz tomorrow for Periods 1-2 in my APUSH class. Since it’s Labor Day weekend, I completely forgot to study until today. I’ve been studying since around 9 AM and I’ve gone through 54 out of the 107 words, but I’ve already forgotten the majority of the terms and which definitions go with which. I’m lowkey stressing because I really don’t want to fail, but at the same time, I’ve been getting pretty good grades on my other quizzes and assignments. My teacher also drops a couple of grades, so that’s making me feel a little less motivated to keep studying. I just want y’all’s input, should I keep studying the 54 words I’ve already gone through and try to learn the rest for tomorrow’s quiz, or should I just enjoy the final day of break?

Keep studying. A vocab quiz early in the year is going to be much easier than later quizzes, so don't waste a dropped score this early. Just keep studying and do your best. One tip is to write down and say aloud the terms and definitions you are struggling with, because it will make them stick in your mind more than just reading them on the screen. And use active recall by testing yourself with flash cards or asking someone else to test you. I would recommend grouping the terms into like five groups and going group by group to make it less overwhelming.

If I'm using quizlet or gimkit, which one would you reccomend? like flashcards of looking at the def then writing the term for all 107 words?

I've used quizlet before and liked it, but I'm sure either are fine. Another way I like is to just open a word document and copy paste the terms without definitions, and then try typing in the definitions yourself and comparing with the answer key afterwards, that's just as good for active recall.

You probably don't need to write the definitions for all 107 words since that would take quite a bit of time, so just focus on the ones you're struggling with. Though I would recommend saying the terms out loud for all of them as you go over them.

Oh alright, what would you do if you know only half of the words I need to know and is also struggling on some of the ones I've studied? same method?

I think for now you should focus on the ones you don't know at all, then go back to previous ones you've struggled with. Same method, or any method you find that works for you.

definitely keep studying, but it looks like you're having trouble with actually trying to use flashcards or something.

There is a free website here (my friend made it) called vocabustudy.com, it's a free Quizlet alternative that has all the same basic features (flashcard, learn, test, match) but at no cost. You can directly import a set from quizlet to the website, there's instructions on the website. I HIGHLY recommend, personally it has made memorizing stuff like 10x faster.

Don't rely on those drops, it's a trap and I've fallen for stuff like that so much. Do your best in the present because you never know what will happen in the future.
