Thank you all! I've learned so much about myself just reading the memes and comments.

I’ve tried explaining this to people, and they don’t really understand. Must be nice to feel good when the kitchen is clean instead of relief and anxiety

"Don't you ENJOY that warm sense of accomplishment?"
"...what? What is that, some Asian food? All I've got is salami."

You guys are getting relief?

Well I don’t have to do it anymore so… less relief and more just thinking if it was a waste of time or not. Or just ready to move on.

lol I don’t get that. I get guilt from all that I didn’t do perfectly and will notice later.

Honestly I have managed to learn to ride that relief pretty far, to a point where the line between accomplishment and relief blurs.

I think the relief is actually fine. The problem is that it's probably offset by the massive influx of cortisol still lingering in the body

Is this what the questionnaires mean when they ask "do you feel as if driven by a motor" - the impulse to do/achieve/complete, with no rest in case the train derails?

I find I do get a sense of accomplishment after I let whatever it was I managed to finish sit for long enough. Maybe our inability to feel accomplished comes because we so often burn ourselves out to the finish line (waiting until last minute, hyper focusing, stressing the f out etc etc) and our batteries are too depleted to enjoy the fruit of our frantic labor

I haven't felt relief since the last time the tasks due until Friday were doable in under a month
