Hi, I was looking to have a Thanksgiving trip to Hatteras, and was wondering if it’s a worthwhile trip for that week? Are the majority of things still open around that time, and how is it with storms? Any help is appreciated. I’m visiting friends and thought this place would be a good trip for us

I noticed the obx sporting events removed the 25K from their page. Is it still happening in October?

In a place that is mostly water. If you put in at a boat ramp, maybe don’t anchor 10 feet from the only shore fisherman at the ramp and start fishing the same spot…?
They had a brand new 24 foot v bottom. Annoying NJ accents. They had all of East Lake to explore. And yet they choose to anchor literally right next to me and start fishing. Incredible.
God I need a boat to get away from people like this.

I’m currently staying in Salvo and we have 5 houses for sale in our neighborhood. What’s going on? The houses don’t seem horribly overpriced considering the area either.

Any opinions on the best cleaner to use for cleaning mold/mildew off the ceiling of an external screen porch here in OBX?
Don't ever remember seeing a rainbow in 20 years of visiting OBX

My husband and I are looking for a photographer to document our vow renewal ceremony next year. I already searched but most results were from over a year ago. I already reached out to Pullen (?) but would love any other suggestions!

Everyone else on the beach is fine, they’re literally just swarming me and my wife unless we sit right by the water.
Unrelated, I’ve never seen the water this clear though.

I just recently moved to elizabeth city so i've been taking trips to kitty hawk almost every weekend the past month or so since moving close to the OBX.
I haven't ever really been to beaches before now because i've never lived close, but i've had great experiences every time there except yesterday evening I could not take a step onto the sand without swarms of flies biting and stinging.
Does anyone know what these are or have any experience with them to give me any tips on how not to get swarmed by them?
I'm planning on going back today but I don't want to deal with that again.
Also I saw there is a surfing commotion in the OBX today, is that all day at jenettes pier? Is it worth going?

We are considering bringing a fan to the beach to help. Are the flies as bad in KDH as the other areas? Thanks!

Staying in Nags Head around Milepost 10 and the last 2 days the flies have been unbearable, even following us into the ocean which I've never had happen. Anyone have any refuge anywhere?

Hey guys. Does anyone have any information on the current status of Waterfall Park? It’s such an eyesore and I feel bad for the folks who live around it. I am surprised that Dare County allows it to continue to exist in its current state.

My husband lost his wedding ring in the ocean yesterday. We were about half a mile north of Nags Head Fishing Pier. If anyone finds it washed ashore, please DM me! We are offering a reward to whoever finds it. It has our wedding date engraved on the inside (9-4-22). Please be on the lookout! 🙏 Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I have a trip coming up in a week and wanted to get a local idea of what public parking is like. We’re on the opposite side of Croatan HWY behind the Food Lion shopping center next to 3rd street. With a dog plus other stuff we’re carrying, wanted to see what the options are aside from having to cross the HWY.
From what I’m seeing there’s parallel spots on 2nd and 3rd street beach access. I also see Hayman Blvd has some spots but I don’t know if that’s public. Also seen public parking on Bonnett St which is 15 minutes from where we’ll be staying.
Wanted to get an idea of what to expect and what the options are. Thanks everyone in advance!
Bonus Question: What are some local places we should try for food?
i was surprised, to say the least, at the data collected and disseminated by the Motorola driven messaging system. (FLIR competitor) The user agrreement for the mass messaging option they make you agree to is highly invasive, in my opinion. The first responders in Obx are absolutley among the best, but this is not neccessary.
