In case this helps others, I got the G5 Ferris wheel but I had read on various posts that it was really difficult to remove the EVA foam pads once applied (I don’t have access to a yard and pressure washer) and I also didn’t love the bright color foam color options or black from the manufacturer, so I went looking for alternatives. I found some neutral color self adhesive foams (tan, beige, brown, grey) on Amazon thx to some other Redditors, but I decided to go with the light grey heather felt pads from One Fast Cat to better hide wear and fur. I ordered two packs and I turned each pad sideways and cut the length of each pad to fit the width of the G5 since it has a wider track than OFC. (I had some extra pads leftover so I repurposed those for traction on a wood cat tree).

I also found a seller on Etsy who makes custom color 3D printed plates that attach via magnets to cover the open sides of the base legs. They look nicer and help keep dust and fur out of those crevices.

I realize these are half aesthetic and half functional reasons for me choosing these, but I just spent a lot of time updating my house decor and if I’m going to have a 4’ cat wheel out in my living/dining room, I wanted to attempt to have it look more cohesive. Sharing the ideas here in case it helps others.

I have been thinking abput getting a cat whell for my two kittos. But it is kind of an investment piece to get, since even good second hand ones are around 100€ from what im finding and its not money I can just throw out.

To the people that have cats that love them. What were some personality traits, that you think could show me my cats would enjoy it?

I do believe Lumi at least would love it, because she is pretty active and the most fearless cat I have ever met, but I am also known to overlook deciding factors, when I think some toys can benifit them in theory.

bought the popular Star Cat Wheel. Pieces not fitting? Seller not responsive but this wheel is notoriously quiet and what I was looking for. Any similar experiences?

I'm not handy so bear with me! I tried to put it together myself - but had to stop and ask for help, but I'm not sure if I need new pieces because they don't fit? I attached the photos. But the nuts that go into the slats that makeup the wheel don't fit and if forced, they start to strip. But the same ones fit perfectly when I built the base before that. I didn't have to force them they fit perfectly. It's just the wheel pieces.

I'm following the tutorial and if I have someone who is actually handy do it, I just wanted to make sure I didn't need new pieces. Or if I'm just doing something wrong.

So I’ve found a very cheap cat wheel with 75 cm diameter, our cat’s length from nose to tail base is approx 50cm. Would this be way too small? I literally can’t imagine.

I got a cat wheel from amazon and I've assembled it but the wheels seems to be on the cardboard wheel and causing an indent which is in turn causing the wheel to catch. See photos for visuals.

My 8 month old "teenager." this is round 3 of 3 short bursts with a 15 or so second break in between. It's a great way to get his energy out, and he goes even harder when the feather is involved. 🙂

Here’s how I mounted an old bike computer to my cats’ wheel. I taped three magnets to each of the joints, this allowed me to divide the circumference by three so it was in the range the bike computer would let me set.

UK based and these are the two ive narrowed it down to.
Price difference is pretty significant, and the latter is harder to get hold of and will require a significant wait (id be looking at Sept if i ordered now).
Im just not sure which one to go for. Both have very similar reviews - a mixed bag.
Excluding cost and whether or not the cats will use a wheel - my main concern is safety, comfort and noise level.
I have three cats, all moggies, but one is a big boy. Not fat, just a large cat. Not quite Maine Coon large but not far off.
The two normal sized cats are both 2, my big boy is 12 but very active.

This is my baby boy! As you can see he is a very large and very energetic boy. We started him in a cat wheel when we first adopted him as a kitten and he absolutely loves it, but he's long outgrown his current wheel. We're moving to a new place soon and planning to upgrade his wheel when we do. My question is -- how big of a wheel should I get? I've seen people talking about size/weight, but I'm not sure. He is a healthy 15lbs, he's 35" from nose to tail tip; 23" to the base of the tail. Can anyone advise on an appropriate size and/or brands that I can look into?

Hello, I want to get a wheel for my cats, but living in an apartment, I'm concerned about how loud they are (or arent). It wouldn't bother me, but I dont want to be that loud neighbor ya know? I watch videos on here and I don't think they're loud, but has anyone had issues with their wheels?

I am looking to collect data about for how long / often the cat is using the wheel. I saw a guide where someone repurposed a bike odometer, but I don't know how much fuss it'd be?

I’m trying to find a wheel that works for larger cats, we have three cats the largest being 31” from nose to tail tip everything I see says to choose a wheel 1.5-2x that size in diameter for the wheel meaning I need to find a wheel with a diameter of 60” does anyone have any good recommendations looking online I can only find wheels 45-50” in diameter

I didnt want to get an expensive wheel, I was pretty certain they'd treat it like all other toys I'm excited about-ignore it.
I try using treats to encourage and lots of praise when they spontaneously use it. What else can I do to get them using it more and encourage the other cats to try it?
